I have really itchy palms and feet so im going to contact them about this. do u ladies think i should go through MW or GP?

Nothing showed up from bloods done at 28 weeks.... im 31 weeks now and have been itching for a week.

will they do a blood test to try to diagnose/dismiss OC? is that how it works?

Do you mean 28 weeks bloods ? Oc is not checked for in these I'm pretty sure x mention it to your mw she will do specific bloods for it x

Hmm, can the itching from OC be a non-constant thing? My legs get really itchy in the evenings, but are ok otherwise? I find it happens more when I'm lying in bed too... E45 cream calmed them down yesterday when it happened though. I also had a bit of the restless leg syndrome thing last night too so not sure if that can be related?

Just an update - my blood tests showed normal bile levels and liver function so my itching must be down to general pregnancy - and prob my latex allergy. Will kp an eye on it still though xxx

Can it occur in first trimester? I had it in my last pregnancy, now pregnant again only 7.5 weeks but my legs are so itchy and hands its quite severe itching iv scratched all my legs but everything seems to say it will start in 2nd or 3rd tri?

I have been itching on both thighs for 7 days now but just on the outer thigh. its worse at night. i mentioned to my doctor but she didnt say it was anything. i was taking progestorne injections and i read that these could contribute to OC. I see her again in one week time. should i request the bile salt blood test now or wait until i see her next?

I AM GOING CRAZY!!!!!! My itching is so bad I literally have made myself bleed... I have been on 1,000mg of Ursodiol for a couple weeks now.. my levels are still high. Doing the ultrasounds/trace monitoring twice a week.. I hope this medicine helps.. did the medicine help for any of you all?? How do you relieve the itching? The only way I can fall asleep at night is to take a cold shower, turn the heating vents off in my room, open the windows and put my ceiling fan on high until its absolutely frigid in my room, and of course sleep without the blanket. If I stay cold I don't itch too much, my poor hubby is going to get sick!! He wakes up with a runny nose, but doesn't complain.. I feel bad.. but I dont know what else to do.. I have a 1 year old and desperately need my sleep at night.. any advice ladies??

I say there is no harm in getting your levels checked! Better to be safe than sorry.. I take p17 shots too.. can they really attribute to OC??? Thats an interesting thought.. My doctor said the itching in woman with OC is generally in the palms and feet.. but mine are worse on my legs and back.. so if you feel any concern, GET IT CHECKED!! it only takes 5 mins...

Honestly, I have never heard it starting in first tri- Mine did start in 2nd tri which my doctor was completely baffled about.. but like I was saying in the previous post- It doesn't hurt to get it checked. But in first tri I was severely itchy, but I attributed it to high blood flow.. gl!

I am only 15 weeks but have itching on legs, hands and mainly stomach especially at night! My mum had OC and I'm at doctors tomorrow but is it likely roster this early? Have felt sick and lost my appetite in last 4/5 days or so and beer sufferered from any morning sickness in 1st tri! X

Ive never even heard of it until now, but on a night time i am so itchy its awful, i cant sleep for a good hour cos i need to keep moving or scratching myself, i seem to get it on my legs and belly!

Lately, especially at night, I have been SO itchy all over my arms, belly and legs. I have also been really overheated. I have been blaming the itchiness on stretching and the heat on hot flashes but now I am not so sure. I have started itching in my ARMPITS and I doubt THOSE are stretching. I'm very worried that this may be obstretric cholestasis but am worried to call my doctor as they never seem to take my worries seriously.

So sorry about your diagnosis. I hope they keep everything well monitored! As I said in my post above, I have just developed insane itchiness. I was up all night last night itching so much that I bled in some spots... I called my midwife first thing this morning and I have an appointment for tomorrow. They wanted to see me today but they had to close due to a HUGE storm we are having. They did say to go to the hospital ASAP if anything worsens or I experience other symptoms. I'm very scared now.

So I've been having insane itching yesterday and today, it was SO bad yesterday that I was crying. It was worst on my arms and legs and shoulders, and wouldn't go away even after I showered and put lotion on everywhere I didn't think it was something to be too worried about, but now I am. I've also been having horrid hot flashes for a few weeks, which make sleeping really difficult. Should I be worried? I am leaving town for a week on Saturday, should I call my doctor?
