Has anybody postponed presents for their kids u til later in the day or Boxing Day etc, because of their behavior? My two older kids have been terrible the last week or so, and i have told them if it doesn't stop they won't get anything for Christmas! Well they are still acting up and just laughing when i threaten them with that so i was thinking of following through and not giving them to them u till they are good! I dont want to be a mean mum but i do t want them to think they can run all over me and still get presents, what do you think?

Tough one, I wouldn't ever threaten my child with something that I wasn't prepared to carry out.

I agree. Maybe dont put them out and see how they behave at breakfast. Get them to help set the table etc. If they do I would then give them out.

I would follow thru with what I said. You're not being a mean mom; you're helping them learn that their actions have consequences. It's not you who is withholding their gifts, it's their behavior.

Thanks ladies its really hard, cos i know it will break my heart to see them upset in the morning. Will see how they go today and have a chat with hubby tonight.

:hugs: hope you worked it out and the kids are behaving for you now xx

Not postponed presents because of behaviour but we have saved all the presents under the tree which is A LOT! As she was getting complaicent as she had opened too much so doing the tree tomorrow :happydance:

If I had threatened it, and they didn't listen, I'd follow through because I wouldn't want them to think threats are empty. It's a tough one, but if they are older, they are perfectly capable of learning a good lesson in having to wait due to bad behavior, which will hopefully be remembered in future years.

Thanks Ladies they ended up changing their attitudes, i postponed the present opening until later in the day, when i thought they had been good fur a sufficient amount if time, and they have been good since, so i think they realized i wasn't mucking around!

Good! Hopefully they remember that next year too!
