Ok this might tun into a bit of a rant lol, so be warned.

Any moms out their with pets that they don't get rid of because they are having a child?

I myself have 3 cats and 14 snakes, I cannot tell you how many people have expected me to sell my pets, just because im pregnant, its really odd to me. They frown (like im a bad mom, and don't care about my unborn child) when I say I wont be getting rid of them. They then try to convince me that I should, and tell me about germs lol, I clean my house daily, the cats have a cat genie, and I wash my hands with anti bacternial soap after handling or cleaning out the snakes. I can't believe the ignorance of people with reguards to pets and correct husbandry/cleaning.

Agreed. We have a cat and I didn't get rid of her. We did rehome our two dogs, well, they were MIL's dogs and we inherited them, but that was because I could not walk them on my own. Anyways, I see what you're saying :)

Not pregnant any more but I know where your coming from I got it allllll the time, we have 2 cats, rabbit, guinea pig, frog and 3 geckos. OH's nan kept saying that my cats are gunna kill the baby by smothering him, at first I ignored it but she kept on so I told I'm not stupid enough to leave them alone together, the cats are my fur babies and she needed to butt out! OH mum made lots of comments about the cats as well, even the HV said I need to watch my cats as they get jealous, I don't what he meant by "watch them". The cats pretty much ignore Keelan anyway, hes loud, smelly and unpredictable, everything that cats hate :haha:

Lol total lack of education, and even the HV? wow lol.

Iv had people say my corn snakes will eat my baby.......to which I don't say a word and walk away, it's that or I may resort to violence at the utter stupidity.

If we didn't keep a clean house with good inection control then yeah, say something about it, but other wise shat it lol.

My corns must be giants yes, and seen as non of them are adult it's even funnier, oh and my baby will obviously smell like a mouse too haha

This is my 2nd pregnancy and my dog still gets the same love/attention as before. Sometimes I think people forget that their lack of caring for the pet is the real cause of the problem, rather than the other way around.

Some people are ridiculous. I have a dog and I would never get rid of her even if she did have issues (which she does not) I believe everything is workable and the dog was here first!

I have 4 cats and have no intention on getting rid of them. Ive had the 'Are you getting rid?' question so many times and it really sucks :( Even my health visitor walked in, told me to remove my cats from her sight and said "So when do you plan to get rid of your cats?"!!! She wasnt impressed when I said never, then started to spout off about how dangerous they are to be around a baby unattended....Like im going to leave them all alone together to begin with!!!

Peoples attitudes are horrible :(

I have two cats, one now 12 and her daughter, 11 -- both are still as spoiled as before (perhaps even more so) and our LO loves his big sisters! The only difference was -- I was able to get my OH to do the litter trays when I was pregnant and for the first few months after my c-section, but all three 'children' are well-loved, etc.

best wishes

ps. nobody asked if I was getting rid of my cats, more questions on whether the cats would 'feel' neglected, and they probably did for a little while, but we made sure they had their own space (places to sleep) and loads of cuddles!

Same here, how rude!! It's there home not hers, I would of gone mental at her and definitely made a complaint.

Yes! We have 2 horses and a dog. The dog stays no matter what. We will just be carefull obviously even though i trust her compleatly.

I did have to sell one of my horses but the reason being we couldnt justify the costs per month for 2. So ive kept 1 which is actually LO's pony haha.

She was the really intimidating type and she had already gone on at me for several other things such as me definately getting PND once my son is here because I witnessed and experience abuse as a child...I just did as she said and shut up until she left :(

She's my first dealing with health visitors an I know now that her behaviour wasn't great so the next time she comes into my house with that attitude, she will be leaving fair sharp ish lol

Anyways taking it off topic a bit there, apologies!

My life, she sounds very unprofessional, silly old bint she is. Maybe you could ask for a different HV?

Jeez, I agree with the other lady, I'd definitely be asking for a different HV :hugs:
