Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

Hi Rabiah, I have had an HSG test at St Mary's, it was OK, I took painkillers in advance, but in my case it was fine and the lady doing it was v. nice. Is a useful test to rule out any scar tissue.

Sorry that they found a clotting issue, did they explain the problem?

I started at St Mary's RMC last week - had a whole load of tests.

They told me that if I ever did pregnant I should take aspirin. SOmething to do with the length of my clots.

They also said I should have an HSG test. This is where they put dye in your womb and x-ray you. They said I need it because I've had 3 ERPCs at my MCs, although my ultra-sound was not flagging anything in particularly.

Has anyone had this test? It does not sound great tbh.

Take care

Hi Sassy, so sorry that you are having to join us.

Whether to TTC while waiting for test results is a really personal thing: it is good that your appointment is so soon, at least you should get some info on what they are testing for etc.

Earlier on in this thread are discussions about the various tests and treatments.

Hi Girls,

Can I join? Sadly I suffered my 3rd loss yesterday and I'm finally being sent for testing, me and DH have our first appointment on Thursday and I really dont know what to expect. We have to wait 2 months for the results and not sure if we should be TTC until we have them, the consultant said its a personal opinion as the chances of all our results being normal are alot higher than it not and also I could get pregnant with a healthy baby or I could have another M/C, I really dont know what to do for the best :(

Thanks Smiler

I don't really fancy the HSG test - but heh... what can I do?!

It was a brief phone call re the clotting issue, but she said that it was just in case I feel prgnant before the result appointment, then I should take 150mg of aspirin per day. This is because of the length of my clotting, which should have been at 64 but wasn't...

Take care

Hi girls,

Can any one tell me what tests I will be having tomorrow? I havent even got a clue.xx

Well 5 days till my 3rd appointment and seeing consultant this time for a care plan!!

Also got fertility clinic on Thursday

Sounds like a big week fluffyblue, hope they come up with a good plan.

How'd you get on at your appointment Sassy?

I had a good 8-week scan yesterday, measurements right for dates, good heartbeat etc. I was v.scared going into the scan and had to go alone as my daughter was ill so my OH had to stay home to look after her. Feeling hopeful!

Hi,
I just wanted to ask a few questions if possible. I am now having my 3rd miscarriage and I really want to know what is going on!!
I spoke to my GP, who said that the EPU would look into any tests etc, but then spoke to epu who said it wasn't up to them it was my gp, but that they are not likely to do any tests anyway because I already have carried 1 child to term so there isn't going to be anything for them to find! they also said that most the tests they would do are for infertility, which is not my problem, I can get pregnant, I just cant stay pregnant!!:growlmad:
Is this true? can I just really be that unlucky? or can things change in your body to make carrying a pregnancy difficult/impossible?
could it be something to do with the delivery of my son? I was asked if I had a cs which I didn't then they didn't mention it again. could a traumatic birth have done something to my insides?
I dont know if any of you can help me, but I dont know who else to turn to.

thanks for listening!!
Donna.

Hey hun sorry your in this section, its crap about if you already have a child, I have 2 already and im under recurrent miscarriage testing, its normally 2 losses after 35 years of age or 3 losses. Doesnt matter about how may children you have.

Your GP will refer you normally but EPU can refer you as well. Stick with GP , I did.

Im like you I am so fertile but cant keep hold of a pregnancy. I had a crap birth with my son to but that was 16 years ago lol. I have a 8 year old daughter to.

Just keep perservering with GP xxx

I know that you can be referred after 2 losses if your older... do you know if they have to be consecutive losses? I have had 2 but not one after the other, i had a little boy in between.

Okay time to join you ladies! 3 mc's in 5 cycles! Im nearly 42 so this could be a huge factor to say the least, luckily I have good GP's and was referred to my gyno after the 2nd one in December, appointment is this coming Wednesday!:happydance: Yeah who would have thought I would be excited to go see my gyno! Im leaning towards a progesterone problem, fingers crossed, my temps after O never get really high and my 21 day bloods had progesterone on the low side at 24, I also have had a high fsh level at cd3 at 34, eek! That could also be affecting progesterone through inadequate follicle development. Roll on Wednesday!

Doddy - get stroppy hun! They should test you after 3 consecutive losses or less if you're older but they probably won't bother if you don't put your foot down. Iwas tested after 2 MMCs & 1 chemical - but they can't always find out what the prob is... good luck

I've decided to go back to gynae & thinking about demanding referal to ST Mary's. He was reluctant to in July when I asked as he told me I would be stressed out by all the testing they would do - but I think I would find it more comforting - what have been your experiences??? Besides he told me I would prob have hh pg next time, and as soon as I tried I had another loss.

a tentative hello

just suffered my third loss in space of about 18months

i have a blood clot that has caused it...so im not entitled to any tests etc as they and i know the reason why

just thought id say hi, i guess im unsure as to what im looking for

im so sorry for all your losses

 KA94 and wannab, I think we are all looking for support and answers and this is a great place for it. Keep preserving, and don't be turned away by the 1/2 assness they try to say sometimes or by the hurt and sadness of our losses. The blessing will come.

Ooooooohhhh appointment tomorrow and fertility 9am thursday, all go this week !

I am so sorry for everyone here, none of us should be here but i am so thankful that these places exist so we can all feel some sense of community and we know that people understand. You are all tremendous women.. and i hope we all get our sticky beans soon.

Had my appointment this morning!:happydance: He's running all the usual recurrent mc bloods and am getting a HSG. He also put me on 100mg aspirin daily till I hit 14 weeks, haha when I hit 14 weeks:haha:, and 200mg progesterone daily at night up the ole love tunnel from day after O. Barring anything funky turning up in my tests, he wants to see me back in 3 months if not succesfully up the duff! Bring on the egg!:happydance:

Good luck with your appointment on Thursday Fluffy! Big hugs to all you lovley ladies!:hugs:

Hi ladies,

I am feeling really annoyed with some of your doctors!

First, just because you have had a successful pregnancy doesn't mean they shouldn't do the same tests after three consecutive losses (including "chemicals"): all kinds of things can change.

Chilli - for a doctor to suggest that further testing would stress you out is patronising - it is for the patient to decide what will or won't help. My local doctor said the same thing, "just try again", and it was only after I was tested at St Mary's (privately) they found a problem, for which I am receiving treatment. Your GP can refer you to St Mary's, the referral doesn't need to come from a specialist.

KA92, really sorry for your recent loss. Have they investigated any blood clotting issues with your blood? There are certain types of condition that means your blood clots too much / quickly and this can cause recurrent miscarriage (both early and late). Some ladies on here have this problem. There are blood tests that can be done. Sorry if this is alarming, is not meant to be. Lesley Regan's book on miscarriage explains it all.

Thats good news hun, im on 75mg aspirin daily now and have progesterone but feel that it delays my AF by days giving me false hope so I only take 100mg (1 pessary 3 days after ovulation for 4 days). Did this last month and only delayed by 1 day. Im gonna ask today bout HSG as finally seeing consultant today for action !.
