***September Rainbow babies 2013 parenting thread***

Loving the photos ladies.

Sannie, when are you next getting George weighed? Are you breast feeding or formula feeding or a bit of both? It may be he needs a little bit more formula.

Chimp I think you have a real little chunker there. Caitlin had her 6 weeks check on Tuesday and was 9lb. She put 9oz on in 6 days. Still bf with one bottle of formula at be time. She is doing approx 4-6 hours at night so only waking once.

I do find in the day she wants to constantly feed, although will have a sleep for approx 3 hours. However when's she's awake she cries and then feeds on and off. On an evening she feeds constantly on me until formula at approx 9.30!

Started driving on tues after 8 weeks without and back to school run. Having to get a whole new routine but nice to be out and about again and seeing people. (DH drops in morning so I only do afternoon run)

We're off to Wales at half term for the week. Will be interesting to see hkw we get on with Caitlin with her feeds whilst we are out and about.

Got my Glucose Tolerance test next weds at hosp to see if diabetes has gone, will get results on 4th nov.

@Danca we are bottle feeding and he has 3 to 4oz every 2 hours. The HV was like well try to make him finish his bottle (was making 5oz bottles before but stopped cos he wont finish em anymore) But I won't force him to have more than he can handle he tells us very well when he is hungry and when he has had enough.

Good luck with the driving & ur glucose test!

@Chimp Thank you! & wow ur little man is a little chunk he's gorgeous :D

@Zebra Not sure yet. Used to be on the pill but I know how forgetful I am these days and I haven't a clue what else is out there :haha:

This may help :) Doctor told me to have a look, so I thought I'd pass it on :)

I would always make bottles bigger than I knew they would drink as if they leave some you know they've had enough if they suck it dry they probably haven't had enough plus they are then sucking on air which in turn will create more wind.

Caitlin has formula as her last feed around 9.30-10.00. I make up a 4oz bottle(125 ml) and most nights there is some left but I don't mind that.

Last night she left 80ml, tonight she has left 70ml

Hi ladies,

Aww Zebra Caitlyn is so tiny still. You are so lucky. Sorry to hear about the finger and bum lol but at least you know things are healing.

That is a smile Sannie!! He is gorgeous. Lucy feeds like George, little ans often. I still make 5oz bottles and must be wasting so much but sods law if i make a 30z one she will want 5!!

Chimp, Dalton is doing so well. Banjo was always a lot bigger than most babies and still is at just turned 3 years he is in 4-5 year clothing. Have a fab holiday.

Hey Lisa, well done for still breast feeding. I should of had my glucose test this week but don't have time to fit it in for the next couple of weeks. Hope yours goes well.

Lucy and I had our 6 week check today. The Dr wished me luck in TTC!!
Lucy is long and skinny!!! She was 58cm ( 91st centile) and 10lb 12oz (50th centile) and head was 39cm ( 95th centile). She has dropped on the graph for weight, going from her 75th centile to the 50th. The health visitor wasn't concerned though. She loves smiling and sleeping (during the day) on a night she goes about 6-7 hours but thats after feeding every hour and half from evening until midnightish.
I'm driving 320 miles with them on my own on Friday.... that will be FUN!! xxx

Thanks Mwaah :D
Yeah same he wasn't finishing 5oz bottles so went back to 4oz as formula ain't cheap ya know but then he's want more so now just stick to 5oz and he will have the whole lost atleast twice a day so I am happy with that.

Woah that's a long drive, hope ur off to somewhere nice.

Danca thanks for ur advice I am sticking to making them bigger than we need most of the time.

George is getting weighed tomorrow, I am so hoping they are happy with his gain cos she said they would do things differently if he hadn't
Also got my first post natal group tomorrow morning it's a 6 week class and then another one for baby massage etc..will be fun and it gets us out :D

Glad all the rainbows are doing well.

Caitlin was weighed yesterday but is still 9lb and she is 7 weeks today.

Going to Wales next week. Wher are you off to Liss ?

Mwaah - Pleased Lucy is doing well. Hope the 320 mile trip goes ok too, safe journey :flower:

Hope all goes well at your appointment Sannie :)

Lisa - Have fun in Wales :D

Had my first post natal group this morning and 2 of the women who were in the antenatal classes were there too so lovely :D

George got weighed and he is 11lbs03oz so the HV was happy now. :happydance:

Have fun in Wales Danca.
We are off to Belgium on the 2nd for a week.

How are things with u and LO zebra?

xx

Thats great about George's weight gain, I bet you were relieved. I'm hoping Lucy starts an upward curve on the graph when she has her 8 week check.

I'm going to North Yorkshire to stay with family. Really looking forward to it but not the drive with Lucy. Banjo never woke on the journey but I know Lucy will.

Have fun in Wales Lisa and you in Belgium Sannie. George has a passport then?? xxx

Aww try not to stress about it too much yet Lucy might surprise you, enjoy spending time with the family :D

Yeah I was relieved, I don't really understand the graphs they use surely aslong as they are gaining weight that's ok in my eyes but who knows lol

Thank you we will :D George has his Belgian Passport as the UK version was so complicated and they told me it could take up to 6 weeks and we need to find someone to sign the application form so we decided to get his Belgian one first.

Thanks Sannie, I hope she does. I'm sat here in disbeilief. Lucy had her last bottle at midnight went down and is STILL asleep in her crib and it's 9.15am!! This is a 1st.

Yes I don't understand the graphs, like you say weight is weight gain so must be good no matter how little or how much.

Thats why I thought you got it his passport so quickly. Great he can have a Belgium one too without all the hassle and paperwork of a British one.
We'll apply for Lucy's after Christmas as wont be going abroad until at least June and that's only if I'm not expecting.

Are everyone's babies in a routine yet? I just can't Lucy into one. She does whatever she wants and eats when she wants. xxx

Seems like Lo's are sleeping well, G fell asleep in my arms around 9pm i put him down in his bouncy chair I went to bed fell asleep so OH put him in his cot around 2230 expecting him to wake up nope little man slept till 0400am...he slept for such a long time I started worrying something was wrong :haha:

Where are u thinking of going abroad next year?

Not a routine as such here he eats whenever he wants sleeps when he wants. Only routine we are starting to do so he knows it's time for bed soon is give him a bath(not every day as he has got some dry skin) and then put him in his PJ's and we stop playing around with him so he relaxes and knows it's night time...god knows if it works but I read about doing this somewhere LOL it must do something cos he sleeps for hours at a time and wakes up for 1-2 night feeds max depends on when we put him to bed.

We are doing well thank you Sannie :flower: 7 weeks yesterday, jabs next week though. Eeeek!

George sounds like he is doing well, great weight!! :D Have fun in Belgium.

Hope everyone else is well?

Oh No the jabs, hope ur better than I will be.
Remember him having his heel prick at hospital I had to ask them to take him out of the room and for my husband to go along as I couldn't face seeing his little face in pain and I could hear his little cry across the corridor it broke my heart :dohh:

Ours are on the 13th & 6 week check up on 12th was meant to be on the 5th but unfort I am not here.

What exactly do they do at 6 week check?

Last week our washing machine leaked all over the floor, this morning at 4am it was the boiler hot water all over the carpet in the hallway

Caitlyn didn't cry when she had her heel prick test. I was like eeek preparing myself for when she cried. She did nothing. I hope it's like that again but we'll see. Husband is coming so that's a relief. It is horrible when they are in pain, sure does break our hearts.

They do similar to the day after the birth at the hospital :)

Oh dear, that's not good. Hope it gets sorted for you soon.

Mine haven't!

Caitlin's jabs should be weds but we are in Wales so had to cancel.

Guessing everyone is different, I really didn't expect them to return now. Pah! It hurts like mad.

Have fun in Wales, have you got her booked in for when she is back Lisa?

I have to wait for a new appointment through the post.

I found my periods to be heavier after having had kids
