septembryos baby area (09 babies)

Mine never stayed in a moses basket more then 6 weeks, i dont think they are reccomended for long, due to no space and the sides not being solid so moving baby can be at risk!
Im going for a swinging crib, which is only reccomended till they can sit up about 6 months, but I personally feel more secure with them then I do moses baskets, we ahve the cot bed for after though!
some prams though the carry cot part does do as a moses basket, the silver cross cream one which is more expensive comes with a rocking stand the car seat would fit on if babies asleep in that or the carrycot part whcih is handy, (also expalins why its so expensive!)

Hmmmmmmm.... I'd thought cot beds were quite a lot bigger than cots, but they're not really are they? I'm trying to get an idea from measurements on the Mothercare website but it's a bit hard to really visualise properly!

We'll be looking to move house within a couple of years (maybe even sooner) as our place is tiny, so if we got a cot that would last from birth to 1 year/18 months then we can get them a more long term bed when we move house to suit the place we move into, ie when we'll hopefully have more room. But if there's not much different maybe we should just go for a cot bed..... I think I'll have to get the tape measure out tonight and figure out how much space we have!

Although.... cot beds don't have the drop sides do they?

my nan is making us a moses basket (like buying it and then decorating it herself bedding wise if that makes sense, with embroidery etc)
which wil stay downstairs,
and then one of my mom's friends has said we can have her swinging crib and cot.
bubs will be in the swinging crib in our room, and then move into own room in cot... assuming we have our own place by then with no more housemate.

I think the cot beds do have drop sides - they have to in order to accommodate the junior bed portion. All the cot beds I've seen have drop sides.
wow, moses basket only for 6 weeks, that makes me want to rethink the whole thing - a six week expense is quite an expense!!!

Hmm, on the sleep arrangements...not quite sure what you all mean when you say a "cot bed". I do know moses baskets tho! LOL!
DD slept in a sturdy bassinet til she was like 3 months maybe. Then we moved her to her crib where she stayed til this past October. It"s one of those convertible cribs so we did switch it to a day bed back in the summer. Now she is in a regular toddler bed. By the time she outgrows that LO will be ready to use the frame.
For the new baby I think we are just going to use a crib straight off. Of course I am a big swaddler so that will help LO not feel lost in the vastness of the crib. We loaned our bassinet to someone who had nothing as she was only 14...she destroyed it! We don't have the $$ to really go all out and buy new furniture this time.
So that's my take on it, already having one child.
I apologize for not totally understanding all of the "European"(for lack of a better word) wording...and I apologize ahead of time if some of my NY terms confuse you all! LOL
Oh and it is nice to have a place to go where you can just be silly or serious as needed. I am home all day with an almost 3yr old, 2 dogs, and 5 cats...so getting away from it all is nice!

That's what I was thinking 10thSept! As much as I'd love my baby to have everything, we're going to have to compromise a bit. If I can get a cot bed with drop sides, and it will fit in our room, then I think that's what we'll go for. Although then I do want to get something to use for naps, but I guess the carry cot from the stroller should do for that at first at least......

Siyren, I do love the idea of a handmade/decorated moses basket, that will be lovely!

I have feeling that my little raspberry will pop out on Sept 23rd. I thought about correcting the doctor with the date, but didn't think she would appreciate it.

She/he is now called lil Raspberry because I now can't get enough of them, and, of course, there seems to be a world shortage.

Good News,

The ms is finally waning, starting to feel more like myself.:happydance:

um i might have laughed at that star-dust.

yeah im thrilled about the moses basket!
i like the idea of a cot bed, think it would save money, as would last longer, but as i said we have a donated cot, from my moms friend.
