You can't have triple test until 16weeks so you will have had the blood group and all that malarky at your 12 week appointment :)

Hi ladies!
How you doing?
On the serious stuff: I didn't have bloods at the nuchal (which was done privately as my hosp doesn't do them) as the doctor there said the risk was low enough not to bother (that's the combined bloods which can be done around 12 weeks)

My hospital does do the triple test at 16 weeks if you want it, which they combine with the results of the dating scan to give you a risk factor BUT my MW said the nuchal is far more accurate and therefore if you've had the nuchal, you don't need the triple test. So I didn't have it.

As I've said before, I think we're at the point where we're having this baby whatever we get told, so I don't think there is any point in doing more digging, but anyway the hospital would have been reluctant to do a triple test when I have already had the nuchal.

As for taking lots of blood - there are a whole host of tests they do - some hospitals use the same vial for a number of tests (therefore, my screening vial for example does rubella, hep B, rubella, syphillis) but others want a separate vial for each test, so it depends on the hospital.

On less serious, I SOOOO want cake right now!!!!!! But just been to the gym, so have to be good!

Hi everyone!

I had my appointment yesterday with my OB/GYN and everything went well. We didn't do a scan but I heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time. It was such a weird feeling and sounded like a galloping horse. The heartbeat was around 150 and when the baby moved, it was so LOUD!!!

My OB/GYN also saw me wearing flat shoes. He actually suggested that I wear shoes and house slippers with at least a 4cm heel (wedge like or a comfortably shaped heel) as that will help avoid back pains and will balance out the weight from the belly and the back. Great reason to buy new shoes and slippers lol!

Hmmmmm, seems I was wrong about having had the triple test..... I've just been digging on the internet and it seems what I had was the combined test, ie nuchal scan combined wth blood test which looks at HCG and PAPP-A levels. This was at my 12wk scan. The triple test looks at HCG and two other hormone levels and is done between 15-20wks, so I'm not sure if I'll be given that as well or not.

Did anyone else get the combined test when they had their 12wk/nuchal scan?

When I had my nuchal scan, it was also done together with a blood test. The results of the two together indicated my risk level.

lol ive joined star-dust with the fab thing, i also crave irn bru soft drink.
which is yummy.
lmaoi want pics of your next attempt at cake making btw

as for triple test, i was offered mine yesterday, (at 14 weeks) but refused it.
was never offered a nuchal scan or the combined test.
