septembryos baby area (09 babies)

Kathryn, when are you due to go back to work? I'm thinking about the start of April when Joe will be 7 months old, but it seems so soon :(

Joe's still no where near trying baby rice yet. Going to get him weighed on Tuesday as we couldn't go last week, so will talk to the HV about it then. He's having 5 x 7oz bottles in a day and we're including 1 8oz one too, so milk still seems to be enough for him.

Hope everyones ok and not too badly snowed in. We're had no more since Friday I think, so hopefully thats it x

We are giving Izzy baby rice once a day, and sometimes with a bit of a jar mixed in (just the veggie ones). We are giving her ones without anything in it, such as milk powder, gluten, wheat etc just in case. She is loving it, and starts to wiggle her legs and arms when she sees the pot and spoon! She opens her mouth wide when the spoon's near! lol

hi,

if your babies are happy with milk then stick with it. i'm not trying to encourage anyone to start weaning.

we only started blake on food as he wasnt happy. although blake is having 2 meals a day he is having 8x8oz bottles as well.

he may still be small for his age (he's just over 14lb) and has only just gone into 3-6clothes (which fall off him, but 0-3 are too small), BUT he certainly has an appetite. i just hope we can get him to eat anything like the other 2 will. i dont eat much fruit and veg but my boys will eat most, they dont like cabbage and brussels but apart them are really good. they wiill also happily get fruit or ask for carrot/cucumber as a snack over chocolate n biscuits!

Hi ladies and babies, muchos love to you all.... so we are all getting the weaning stage then. I'm going to leave it a bit longer with Noah, although i feel really bad because he is blatantly interested in food. You should see him fixated on anyone when they are eating. The HV in my town are drumming in the whole 'don't wean until they are 6 months' malarky.

Wow Amy, 8 8oz bottles! Joe is having 5, maybe 6 7oz bottles but is quite big already. When he was weighed at 3 months he was 13lb 11 so that was nearly a month ago.

Does anyone have a bumbo?? Joe seems to be ready to sit up, he's always trying to so it in his rocker so I want to get one for him but he has really big thighs!! (He must get them from his dad, although I'm not exactly sporting twigs as legs at the moment lol!) Anyhoo, I was wondering if he would fit, as they look quite small?? Don't get me wrong, Joe's not massive by any means but he has long legs and quite big thighs, in a cute baby type of way! Just wondered what people's thoughts were about them?

x

hi,

blake has a bumbo and will only sit in it for half hr or so, the he gets really fidgety and grumpy. he has had his for about 5weeks. they are quite roomy. if your not sure go into mothercare etc and sit him in 1 and see what you think b4 you buy.

****we have 2 new problems****

apart from him pulling the sheets off mattress i cot he has now worked out that if he holds it he can pull himself up the cot!!! i was awake most of last night as he kept doing the above and then banging his head on the top. i know they say not to use cot bumpers at night as they can snuggle in and suffocate so has anyone got any ideas as to what i can do so he doesnt hurt his head???

the other "party trick" is putting 1 arm down the side of mattress though the bar and then trying to wriggle up to top and screaming as he has got his arm stuck.

he is sooooo active at night. LOL! a right lil monster. me thinks he is going to be in the bottom bunk bed with safety side b4 much longer. HV will LOVE that 1. NOT!!!

on a plus note he has decided that when anyone gives him a kiss he trys to blow a raspberry at them, its so funny. there is spit/dribble and tongue everywhere!

Thanks Amy, I didn't think of that :dohh: !! I'm planning on going out shopping tomorrow if it doesn't snow anymore, so will give it a try if I find one

Does anyone have any other recommendations of things to get for a 4 month+ old? He has his rocker and swing (which he doesn't like :nope:) as well as his playmat, but anything else people have that they can recommend??

x

Hey Vicks! Izzy has a bumbo and she's 16 pounds and fits! The holes for the legs are actually quite roomy as her thighs arent small!!! Sometimes when we go to take her out it stays attached to her, lol!!! (but not in an uncomfortable way!) U r going through the same dilemma as me, what can i entertain her with??? She has a swing (and doesnt like it!!!), she generally doesnt like lying down on her play gym, we have a door bouncer which she loves, but i find it tricky to get her in and out on my own. So i have been thinking about either a baby walker or an activitiy station. Not sure which yet, but probably the activity station as we have a small flat! (and the leapfrog one is half price on amazon at the moment!)
How was Joe last night?

blake loves his bean bag but now he can wriggle of it i cant leave him on it when i leave room. he doesnt like his play gym as he doesnt like things hanging above him - car seat toy, cot mobile etc.

I'm due back ont he 12th April, so Isaac will be just under 7 months... I had always planned on going back then, and got my promotion kind of on that basis! Not particulary looking forward to it, but hey!! I've got 3 fridays worth of keeping in touch days before Easter to ease myself back in!

Isaac is definately interested in food - he's shoving everything in his mouth, licking his lips and trying to grab stuff off plates, and like I said I need him to be eating before I go back to work, as I don't particulary want to give him formula for the few weeks before the summer hols! So I think I will start at teh weekend with the baby rice and then make up food for him over the next couple of weeks!!

I'm trying to find new stuff to entertain Isaac.. we recently bought the tummy time explore thing from lamaze, which he loves!!

Thanks ladies!! Yeah, I'm looking for new things for him. He loves his rocker which we have in the lounge, so he can be with us and goes on his playmat every day and on his flat one for tummy time. He really hates his swing, which is a shame as it was a lovely present, but he just doesn't like it :(
I was thinking of a bumbo to help him sit up and to learn to grab things from, but will look into the walker or activity station. I just feel like he might be bored, he doesn't seem to be but its limited on what you can do to entertain them at this age!

as for bordome - blake got a morgan monkey by lamaze for xmas, its about 8-10inches high and has rattle bits, squeak bits etc. he loves playing with it. it gets hugged and chewed daily.

most of his other xmas toys get 5mins play and then thrown. and he got loads of rattles, cloth books, soft toys etc.

Hello! I can't believe we have 4 month olds now! I took Lennox to his checkup Friday and he grew. Yay for that! He's now 16 pounds 4 ounces and 26 inches. He was 8 pounds 1 ounce at birth so he has already more than doubled his birth weight. Which I'm happy about! He's wearing 9 month clothes and size 3 diapers.

His dr told me to wait on introducing foods till he sees him again. Which will be at 6 months. It's fine by me as he doesn't seem ready for solids just yet. I'm sure the dr won't get upset if I start foods sooner as all my other kids were eating cereal by now. Maybe I want my baby to be a baby a little longer as he is my last.

My oldest will hopefully be a licensed driver in 3 months. Oh my what am I saying? He's still a baby himself. Man they grow up too fast! Treasure every moment!

I'm adding a pic of Lennox I took the 7th he looks so cute sucking his thumb. None of my other children did that. Ty tho had a paci!

mom2pne- Thats fantastic about Lennox's weight. Izzy is that now, and she was 8lb at birth. Love the picture x

Hey everyone!! how are we all!

ooo amy we have a lamaze toy snake for mason he got it as an xmas present and he LOVES it its soo colourful with different noises etc!!

Vicks - what about a jumperoo for joe???....mason has 1 and OMG its his most favourite thing EVER lol he knows exactly what to do and would jump for hours if he could its got soo much to entertain them with and i think he likes it so much is he feels free like im not holding him and hes always like boucing when sitting on my knee...DEF worth the money imo!!??

Also with the bumbo mason has good chubby thighs and he fits in it no bother, i tried him in 1 in mothercare also hehe...altho he will only sit in it for like 15mins max...think he feels restricted lol

Mason has his 3rd set of jags on monday and his 4month check!! eeeek! more jags arg!!

hi,

just been and got "chunky monkey" weighed and he's not as heavy as my scales made him! he's 13lb 5oz, BUT this also means that i'm not as heavy as i thought! YAY!:happydance:

it was nice HV today. HV was shocked at how many bottles he is having and said to try him on hungrier milk, then realised he on soya and there is no hungrier and said that she is not advising me to put him on baby rice but its my choice as a mum!!! :thumbup:i'm takng that as my OK to "carry on" with what he's having. i didnt dare tell her what he IS having. will leave it few weeks. LOL.

so even though he having loads of milk and food he has put on 1lb 1oz in 4weeks and has dropped below the 9th line which he has followed since birth. which means hes not getting the nutrition he needs.

:flower: and hi to all that havent been on in ages. hope your ok.
