Zander is SO cute :D And he has some great outfits too!

I posted my "return to work" letter yesterday (You know Blah blah blah, I'll be coming back from maternity leave on this date and i want to reduce my hours blah blah blah  ) I just can't believe how quickly the time is zooming by! It is so much fun to see all the new tricks Toby is learning though, you can definitely see aspects of his personality starting to shine through, he is a very cheeky boy! :baby:

It's lovely to see how everyone is doing. All of your babes are absolutely gorgeous and growing away so much.

Rebaby, we should swop telephone numbers. Sounds like you are up at night just as much as me lol. That way in the middle of the night I wouldn't feel quite so lonely whilst Elliott is feeding quietly (and half asleep) and OH is dozing his head off!! :winkwink:

As you know we have also started to let Elliott experiment with food. I also wanted to wait until 6 months but like you say it's baby led and Elliott is certainly leading us very well also! I am not properly weaning him, he's just experimenting right now and enjoying every minute.

I think he may have some rumblings of teeth in his gums. His gum at the bottom front looks lumpier than normal and he has taken to chewing and carrying his blankie like a dog :haha: Love him to pieces.

He is also trying to sit up but like Tobias he is wobbly and drunken looking at wobble forward or to the side after a while. If he's really concentrating though he does quite well. He was rolling from front to back but doesn't do it so regularly now. No sign of rolling from back to front yet though he has got half way a few times.

Here are some photos of the little man. First one is when he was newborn and a few more recent ones. I can't believe how much he is changing so quickly  He is my world.

No but REALLY we actually should! It seems everyone i talk to at baby groups these days is saying their babies are now starting to sleep through which feels like a lifetime away for us...i get to feeling like the only person on the planet awake at 3am (and 4am and 5am etc!)

On another note though: Elliott is such a dab-hand with that doidy cup! Having seen that picture i now really REALLY want one! Toby has 2 "sippy cups", one with a two-way valve (i.e. doesn't spill, you have to suck the liquid out) and one without (i.e. water everywhere!) and neither are a great success. With the 1st one i think he basically has no clue he's even supposed to drink from it, he thinks it's just a weird toy i keep handing him, and with the 2nd, he loves to wave it everywhere but when it comes to drinking from it, he tends to drown himself a bit, particularly since the lid is prone to falling off! :dohh:

Looks like we lost another sparkler in bloodbinds :(

not really sure why but am just a bit sad. That's the 2nd one now...

Anyhoo I have a big day coming tomorrow! Am going to try a little bit of Blw weaning! I think we're ready :). Have sweet potato and melon to prepare tomorrow after swimming. Am sooo excited!

We've been having loads of lazy mornings and afternoons, with walks with the dog and walking trips to the grocers and butchers (I am trying to avoid supermarkets!). It's been really awesome and I have a real wee smily man on my hands :).

Going to new Zealand in august for 3 weeks. 2 x 12 hour flights there and back. In trying not to think about it just yet though... :/

Aw Rebaby, big :hugs:

Poppy! Elliot is amazing with his cup!!
I've been waiting to get H's but I think after seeing that I might just order it today! ;D

Jenny - I keep having the travel debate... I want to make the MOST of my time off work, but I'm too scared to do the plane thing incase it's living hell.

As for Bloods... I've got her on Facebook - she doesn't know why her account is deactivated at the moment - Stircrazy said they're 'investigating' something and not to read anything into it
Hopefully she'll be back on soon.

Here's Hazel...

Ooh ok thanks Seraphim. Maybe its not serious then and she'll be back :)

:-O at the video! We are almost there but its still very wonky and he needs a lot of help. Can't wait until hes sturdy! I think Hazel has more toys than Culann haha!

We kindof *have* to do the holiday thing this year as we're considering applying for a resident's visa and this is the only time when we can go really. I am scared but a part of me knows that it'll be good for us to just go for it and see what happens. He should sleep for most of the first flight as it coincides with his bedtime. The second flight...well, I'll have lots of toys :)

The people who DO take LO on flights don't seem to regret it - so that has to be a good thing :)

That's excatly what everyone was saying to me....I was like "aaarrrggghhh" especially as my night wakings were hourly from 1 am.....:coffee:!! The last 2 days I have been joining Polaris with Sleep Sense. I am not following it exactly but doctoring it to suit us and last night I was up once....yes, once!! He is learning to self settle and is having so much better sleep because of it. I am really hoping it continues.

Elliott LOVES the doidy cup. He was the same with the sippy cups and couldn't figure it out. Don't get me wrong, a lot of water ends up down his front and I do often help him whilst he's getting the hang of it but the good thing is....he actually realises drink comes out of it for him to swallow! He asks for his cup now with dinner (in a baby way of course - he's not that advanced lol!). It's very cute.xxxx

Aaawwww thank you. :hugs: Like I said to Rebaby , he does need help but he understands that there is water in there to drink and he does try (sometimes he swallows normally, sometimes he will try and lap the water - very cute!). As his movements are still quite jerky at times we often get soaked but it's a lot of fun.

Gorgeous video of Hazel. She is amazing at sitting up! Elliott is getting better but still looks a bit drunk at times! Did that come with practice or is it something they get better at naturally? I don't want to push sitting up too much as I know he'll get better as he gets stronger but will practicing hurt him at all?xxx

I did spend a week helping H with sitting. I put her toy arch over her crib in the bedroom so she could hold onto it (while I was blowdrying my hair ;)) and I put a squooshy cushion in her moses basket (which turned into a mini play pen) to prop her if she wobbled backwards, with toys in to play with... she found the softer surfaces easier to get balanced on. Within a week she aced it - but I think when they do take to it its a bit like that whenever it may be.

She took a bit of hand holding for a while but now she's loving it. I don't know if I helped or if she'd have got there anyway - but I was eager for her to be unaided so we can start BLW at 6 months.

I think it's good to let them have a rest often... it is like a workout at the gym, but I don't think you'd hurt them. I think they soon tell you if they want to do more... H was lifting her head up and straining in a sit-up style way saying she wanted up. I think you'd also have a floppy crying baby if they found it too much.

Almost 6 months

Hey girls - gosh these babies are growing too quickly!! Katie is able to sit unaided now, she is quite good at it but still refuses tummy time, really doesnt like it, although am trying to get her on her tummy for a few mins every day. She has managed to roll from back to front once but as she ended up on her tummy, she hasnt tried it since....lol....

She is settling well in her room now although she doesnt like going to bed before 11pm these days, was a real battle to get her into bed before 10 tonight, think she just wore herself out in the end from trying to stay awake....lol

Never seem to have 5 mins to myself these days, hence not been on much. Hope to get more time over the weekend so will post some new pics of Katie then :)

H is such a clever little peach. Good idea with the toy arch. Elliott is enjoying practising and is getting good! I use my bf pillow as support which really helps or he sits on his playnest as that is safe whatever way he tumbles...even though I'm always there to catch him.

As you know I've been letting him experiment with food and have been putting him in his bumbo to play with it. However it would be nice of he could support himself.

Nearly 6 months  don't remind me!!

Ooohhhhh forgot to ask...how did Hazel like the door bouncer??xx

Hi Flower :hugs: :hi:

Help someone re:sleep!!!!

Culann used to be the best little sleeper at night! He wouldve went down before 7 with barely a peep out of him!

Now everything is a fight! He's so mobile in his cot that he won't settle. I give him his Teddy, a muslin square, his dummy, to settle with but nothing works! I told my friend and he laughed and said that when his now-3 year old was 6months, he decided that sleep wasn't for him and has been a terrible sleeper ever since. I'm so worried that'll happen to us!

He sleeps on his side and tonight was almost wanting to lie on his tummy, but I was afraid to put him in that position.

Should I even try pushing back bedtime till 8pm??

All the stress that happens at bedtime is not good for him. He's so anxious now when we put him in his cot :(

oh, I should also say that he won't finish his bottles now either. Last night he took 2oz instead of the normal 8 before screaming and crying. Tonight I managed to get 5 into him...

Hey girls, had first experience of baby led weaning with Katie today, she had melon and banana this morning which she seemed to like and carrot and brocoli for tea which went more down her front and on her face but she did seem to have lots of fun :) I bought her a door bouncer yesterday too and she went in it this morning and LOVED it!! :)
Jenny, I am sorry you are having problems with sleeping - I wish I had some suggestions but I am having similar issues with Katie so will be interested to see any advice that gets offered.... babies eh!

Here are some pics of her brocolli experience :)

awww Chrissie your girl is so beautiful. Finley is a month behind most of the sparklers so although I am dreaming of solids to hopefully help him sleep more, we are still a bit yet....

I get so tempted some days to open the formula tin I was sent and just try him on a bottle of it to see if he will sleep (he is still waking to feed 4-5 times a night)...but alas I don't because I don't have a good excuse. BF is going just fine, he is growing and happy...I am just tired. Ah well. It is all worth it and I just have to remember the newborn days and boy am I ever grateful for the happy place we are actually in now :)
