It's a killer really because it's so much easier just feeding him and not worrying about expressing and faffing around with bottles. But absolutely necessary for us so that someone else can feed baby when needed.

Hey baby mummies!

This past week has been sooooo much better. I said before that I wasn't getting the bonding at all, but this has changed for the better. Am getting coos and smiles now which makes everything seem a lot better. Hes also napping better during the day which stops his crying and overtiredness in the evenings.

Have also put my foot down with my OH. He was making me feel guilty about wanting to go to bed early as he never gets to see me, but it was then killing me getting up at night and then early in the morning - I was delirious with tiredness! Am going to bed when LO goes to bed at 9 now, just until hes sleeping through and I feel more like a human being now!

Am getting lots of proud mummy moments too - I swear hes starting to copy us when we wave at him. It *might* be coincidence, but hes done it 3 times since last night now so hopefully he knows what hes doing :)

I'm completely smitten now - I'm just sad it took me this long to get there :/

OMG Jenny I am so happy to hear you are doing better!! The minute Finley started smiling, was the moment we turned our corner a bit too... it just makes up for everything...

and good on you for forcing sleep. My DH does that too...they just don't get it... he even had the galls to once say "well you get almost the same amount of sleep" as me... I'm sorry honey but 8 hours total of sleep interrupted into 1.5/2 hour intervals is not the same... :hissy:

They just need to be assured that the love life will return when baby starts to sleep more... DH and I are already getting a bit more time together now that Finn is happier.

OMG my OH said this to me the other day too, he added up all the little bits of sleep and it came to about 8 hours in total so he was wondering why I was tired! I was a bit dumbstruck - how can they honestly think that it is the same as getting a full uninterrupted nights sleep???

Glad to hear that you are feeling so much better Jenny!

Well Thomas is three months old today, and I think we are going through the three month growth spurt! He is back to wanting to feed every two hours day and night, I am exhausted. He had only just started sleeping for longer stretches at night so it does feel like a bit of a step backwards. I hope it doesn't last too long!

Fab news Jenny, so glad things are coming together. What is it with these men eh!! My DH wakes up every morning and says "Im so tired!" - I quietly fume away to myself that I went to sleep an hour after you, woke up to feed after 4 hours sleep, had another 2 hours sleep and had to get up to move the bloody car so you can go to work!! good job I love him or I might have done some damage by now :)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention too the other day he uttered those stereotypical words " Well what have you actually done all day!!"

I'm so so glad things are getting better for you now jenny :hugs:

I totally get what you are all saying re: OH's...to be fair to mine, he is working full time nights at the minute so when he says how tired he is, i understand what he means by it, but it doesn't stop me thinking  sometimes.

I'm sure he thinks i sit on my butt breastfeeding and watching crap telly all day! Truth is that by 9.30 most mornings i have Toby bathed, dressed and fed, myself washed and dressed and had a cup of tea, the cat fed, the dog's been let out, the living room floor is swept, the dummies have been sterilised and a washing load has been put on! :laundry:

Toby is 12 weeks old tomorrow and i'm not quite sure how that has happened! I remember it taking FOREVER to get to 12 weeks when pregnant but now he's here it is speeding by! He laughed properly for the 1st time yesterday- a real hearty chuckle at me while we were playing a silly game on his changing mat :cloud9: Not sure how much he weighs at this exact minute because it's been 10 days since he was last weighed but he was 12lb 12oz then so i am guessing perhaps 13lbs?! He's mostly in his 3-6 months clothes now

Is everyone else finding their LO's much more interested in things (books, toys, the environment in general) now?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention too the other day he uttered those stereotypical words " Well what have you actually done all day!!"

OMG I don't think i would have been able to stop myself becoming violent!! I hope you let him know in no uncertain terms!

Chrissie - just wanted to let you know that we are definitely making progress now with the bottle issue, Thomas will now take a bottle more often than not, although he will only drink it if it's very warm so we've been heating the milk up 2 ounces at a time as otherwise it cools down too much by the time he's half way through! Not particularly convenient, but at least he is taking it. Hope you are having some success too.

Cole slept for a straight 8 hours the past two nights! :happydance:
But, it made me feel more tired than normal and I actually woke up more to check on him. :dohh: And, he's out-growing his bassinet!!! I'm not ready for him to move to his own room, he'll only be 11 weeks tomorrow! I didn't plan to move him until about four and a half months! He's currently 25 and a half inches long! He fits perfectly in six month clothing and we had to go buy more as all that stuff was summer time clothes and there is about two feet of snow on the ground right now! :haha:

Oh dear, our DH's...silly men they are. Mine used to act the same way, but he's currently home now as he's out of work. So he understands and doesn't say anything to me anymore!

Hope all you ladies and bubs are doing well besides that! :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Wow, well done Cole! LOL at waking up more often to check on him, that's what I'm like too!

Thomas has been sleeping much better too since he learned how to suck his thumb. He can now put himself back to sleep when he wakes up instead of using my boob as a soother! For the past two nights we are down to just two feeds - he goes to bed at about 8.30, sleeps till about 1.30 a.m., has a feed, then on Sunday night he slept till 6.45 a.m.!!! My boobs were about to explode! He normally wakes at 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. but he just missed those feeds out, I actually heard him wake up at 5 but he just tossed and turned for a bit then found his thumb and went back to sleep by himself!!! I was so amazed! Also he will now self settle in his basket at bedtime, I just make sure he has the thumb in his mouth and I can leave him in the basket awake and go downstairs and he's asleep within 5 minutes! He has come so far from the little baby who would ONLY sleep on my chest for weeks! I know not everyone agrees with thumb sucking but it has been life changing for us (soothers didn't work out for us).

Hope everyone else is doing well.

quick question girl. are any of your babies teething yet? jacks already got a tooth cutting though but its one of his back ones and is in sooooo much pain :( xxx

Oh wow, teething! That's crazy, thought we had at least another month or so before anybody would have that problem! Bless his little heart! Have you tried getting a gel to soothe his gums? I recieved some at my shower, I'm interested to see if it works, I assume it just numbs your LO's gums.

That's great for Thomas, Polaris! Cole still has issues finding his thumb! Isn't it lovely getting a straight night's sleep? Or close to it anyways?

Well I might have spoken a bit soon, he had a really unsettled night last night due to wind. Just couldn't seem to get his wind up, I was winding him for at least an hour after each feed and he still woke up screaming at 5.30 with it and was awake for an hour. :(

No teeth yet, what's the bets they start appearing just as the wind starts to settle down!

Oh poor fella! I hope he's feeling better today! Sounds like he and mum need some rest! I don't know if you have the Little Remedies brand over there, but we use this for Cole:

https://www.littleremedies.com/gas-relief-drops/

Take about 20 minutes to work and seem to help a lot! Cole loves the grape flavor, but we could only find the fruit punch last time, he gives me quite a look when he gets that flavor! I also rub his little tummy in a clockwise motion before I move his legs up and down and it seems to help him pass wind! I do hope he feels better today! :hugs:

Momma, thats what we have as 'Infacol' or 'Dentinox'

Polaris, I'm right behind you. Teeth are a milestone I could live without for a looooooooooooooooooong time.

Wind is driving me bonkers :(

Hey Tanya welcome hun.

Rebaby, can you believe Toby and Katie are 3 months old??? Its flown by!!

Well no more luck with bottles, though DH has not been here much to persevere.. I have bought some avent bottles to try to see if that helps as when DH gave Katie a bottle the other night, whilst she took about an ounce, she spat the whole lot back up, all over DH!!

Katie was weighed last week and was 13lb 8oz and measured 23.5 inches :) She is growing at a ridiculous rate..

What do you girls do with your babies during the day when they are awake?
