The Bad Mothers (Guilt Free) Confessional Thread

Hi

I thought I'd start a thread (where I may be alone ) but I thought it may help if I could confess my bad mother moments in a guilt free and non-judgemental thread i.e. for fun! Bad Mother moments like catching their head on a door frame as you walk through it (sure I read that somewhere on here), finding them playing with scissors (like a friend of mine did), giving double the dose of Ibuprofen by accident (another friend).

Wanna join me? Confess your sins Bad Mothers!

Here is my bad mother confession from Sunday. You may have seen my thread about a poo stain in the carpet. Wanna know how that happened? Well our two were having some nappy off time. I was putting some clothes away and DH was wandering about. Charlotte had crawled off into our bedroom where she normally looks at herself in the full length mirrors.

Anyway, a minute or two (literally no fibs!) later we found her. She was up to her elbows in it and not only that it was squished between the fingers of both hands and smeared all across her face.

My confession is that my daughter ate her own poo!:rofl:
lol thats funny bless you bet you were gagging cleaning that up !!

:shhh:
my 2 year old is "working on potty training" and he likes to play in the toilet. He has this red sand shovel that he brought into the bathroom and used it as a spoon to scoop water from the toilet bowl into his mouth. Gross.

Elyse is obsessed with sucking on MY fingers, not the tips, or the knuckle, but the sorta joint? LOL.. I let her do it once because my hands were clean and her soother fell on the sidewalk.. well goddd you think I can get her to take the pacifier now? Nope..

I was cutting charlie's nails last night and accidentally nipped his finger :-( I felt so awful! x

My greatest sin?

Ugh...too much tv.

Abbi is a very clingy kid. She doesn't nessesarily like to be held, but she wants me right beside her while she ignores me. lol She plays well enough by herself and again, doesn't really want my input. But if I stop staring right at her, she freaks out. :hissy:

It's frustrating. Especially because I have other duties online I have to attend to and if she's not napping, I can't have her sitting in my lap while I do them. And if I bring my laptop to her play room, she'll try everything possible to pull it out of my lap or climb into my lap with it.

So, when I absolutely HAVE to get work done...I turn on the tv, pop a dvd in for her and leave. I give her a sippy cup and a num num and hope to God that'll keep her satisfied.:baby:

It does work temporarily but honestly, I feel awful about it. I hate feeling like I'm ignoring her. But I don't know what else to do. She's getting kind of spoiled so I feel like maybe it's not so bad what I'm doing but....I feel bad about it.

This isn't a bad thing at all! Our doctor actually told us to do this when my girl was a newborn. She HATED passies too and it calmed her down to suck on my knuckle. I just always kept my hands and nails clean and let her do it. It feels natural for them, especially if your LO is breast fed. Who wants a cold rubbery passie when you can have a warm fleshy finger (which feels kinda like a nipple)?

Ugh Kathryn is like that too! Though she does what me to talk to her and make funny noises and faces too. She is such a happy baby, but even when she's happily playing by herself I try to leave to do some laundry or just to grab lunch and she starts whining and crying. I feel bad but I just let her cry, I don't want her to learn that if she cries I'll stay. So I do put the tv on for her when I need to get stuff done (though that doesn't work very often) and I also have the tv on a lot for me, though she's more interested in her toys unless it's HER dvd on.

My other confession is that I haven't been feeling well the past 2 days so my DH gave Kathryn her solid food in the morning before he left for work and at night when he comes home and I'm supposed to give her her lunch, but I've skipped it  its such a mess to clean up and if I don't clean it all up right away MIL will give me hell, so I've just been giving her a couple extra sippy cups and some yogurt melts instead. Not that I could clean up today anyways since the water has been shut off due to a leak (luckily MIL doesn't know that I have wet pads for the swiffer)

i banged violets head on the tap in the bath, we were bathing together and i was whooshing her back and forwards when it happened, she didnt cry tho.. just looked a bit shocked!

also, a few weeks ago was trying to get her to sleep when she kept making this weird sort of noise over the baby moniter but not really crying so i didnt rush in, when i eventually went in there was a massive mosquito next to her head!! poor little baby..

i just hit archies head on the tap aaarrrggghhhh i was giving him a quick dip in the kitchen sink as i have broken my thumb and the baby bath is too heavy for 1 hand i turned him round to clean the nether regions and his head bumped on the tap...hes ok but i feel like the woirst mother in the world ...theres no mark ive checked

Brilliant thread!
Well, my first entry (and many more to follow)
Today Daniel banged his head on the kitchen tile floor (he is fine).
Also I shouted at him when he peed on the carpet with potty being 2 steps away.
And also I didn't spend enought time with him today.

A week ago I couldn't drag my ass out of bed so I just stayed there under the covers while my husband attended to the baby. She had soaked through her diaper so he decided to take her clothes off while she was in the crib. He sat her up, she's only 10 weeks, and proceeded to lift her shirt over her head. I thought she might fall over, but he must know to support her and I closed my eyes. The next second I hear a thunk and she's screaming. He pulled her shirt over her head and let go. She then banged the side of her head on the crib bars. I actually took her to the doctor over it even though she was smiling like right after it happened.

I've also once dropped a thermometer on her head, the kind you use on her temples. And right after she was born they took her from my room to weigh her and whoever did it didn't put the "bed" in place right. I set her down in it after I breastfed her and the thing fell down and she bounced a little (she didn't even notice). I don’t know what to call it. It’s a wheeled cart with drawers and this clear acrylic type rectangular container with a mattress on top. There was a place to tilt the “bed” so it could be on an incline, but the nurse had set it on the name tag plate or something like that.

A couple more are about me when I was a baby. My parents took me camping with their friends when I was 6 months old. My mom put me in a laundry basket and left me alone in the camper to take a nap while she, my dad, and their friends hung out around a fire. Somehow I got out of the basket, made it to the camper door, got out the door, and fell to the ground below...on my head. Had a huge bump and a bruise. Later at 9 months they had a walker for me and I apparently decided to run it down the stairs. Then there was the German shepherd they kept even though it once partially tore off my ear until the third time it sunk its teeth through my hand when I was four or five at which point they put it down.

I call Elyse's bouncy chair (that has a vibration setting) "The Electric Chair"

lol its not even been 5 weeks yet .... but ...

my oh caught her finger in
the car seat belt thing and toke
some skin off it bless her
she cried so much

and i toke her bottle out of the
hot water, went to shake it
and shoke some on her face
she didn't even notice! :dohh:

poor kid! lol there'll be more to add
im sure :blush::rofl:

xx

I caught Elyse's finger in her clothes before, wailed for like 10 minutes straight, she was so red :(

I call her baby items funny names, I mentioned the electric chair already here, I call her baby sling the "banana hamock" because we first tried it while she was wearing this yellow sleeper & we call her a banana when she wears it.

At my brother and sisters christening(they're twins) the church part went well. after my mom was carrying my little sis and my dad was taping it, sometime during the party they noticed my brother wasn't there.. he was still in his carseat, in the back of the car that my uncle was driving obliviously to the other side of the country! He missed his own party! My bro is 15 now and still doesn't let mom live it down

Leo was having a really cranky day yesterday and I couldnt get anything done. I noticed he had fell asleep whilst I was vacuuming and woke the instant I turned it off.....So I stood it a few feet away from him for 20 mins and he was out for the count!

The cleaner smells a bit burnt out today though:blush:

LOL Jackie at keeping the vacuum running, hehe! well if it works!

Once with my son I put him in a door bouncer thing, it didn't attach properly and whilst I caught him the metal bit cliunked him right over the head, I cried my eyes out on the phone to NHS direct.

I was delirious when I woke up the other morning, saw it was 9 o'clock and I was that tired I thought it was in the evening (Don't know how I thought this as I never go asleep before 11pm) and she was waking up so I was confused went down, warmed a nice bottle of milk and give it too her as always (give her bottle to feed herself, walk out , she falls back asleep) so next thing I know it's 11.30am! I woke up as Hallie was doing her usual chorus of words and she was absolutley piss wet through, her bed was soaking her nappy was like a house brick and it had started crumbling. She had fell back asleep because I give her bottle n the dark and in bed, so she ovbiously didn't know it was morning and she had been wearing her nappy from 7pm at bed time thats over 12 hours :dohh: :yellowcard: for me!!

I felt so bad and irresponsible!

Same thing happened with my little guy when he was a couple weeks old! I got my hubby to make a CD with sound downloaded off the internet of a vacuum, and cranked it often when I put him down for his nap. I'd put him to bed when he was tired, he'd start to cry, but then I'd turn it on nice and loud, and he'd fall straight asleep!!!

Unfortunatly it's stopped working this week though!

I put both of mollys legs in the same leg hole in her trousers this morning, and it took me about 10 mins to realise!
