The Bad Mothers (Guilt Free) Confessional Thread

I was getting my eleven month old son dressed after his doctors appointment yesterday and he was fussy so I let go of him for a second to grab him a bottle and he fell face first off the exam table . huge goose egg above his eyebrow and then today he started vomiting so we rushed to the doctor to make sure it wasn't brain swelling. luckily it isn't related. but I feel so badly because how often are we told to never let go even for an instant :/

Yesterday me and my 7 month old and his dad were driving back from the city ( 1 hour drive) we were using the truck so jake was between us. I had gotten a dq blizzard before we left to eat on the way home was sharing it with him. After his tenth small bite I told him that was enough for him and the rest was mine. He looked between me and his dad 6 times before pulling a huge pout and bursting into tears. Of course me and his dad just kill ourselves laughing!

After 10 minutes of laughing at his tantrum I offered his some juice and he finally calmed down. But how could we not laugh about a 7 months old throwing a tantrum over a banana spilt blizzard!

:haha::haha: I just had visions of my lo doing that. Haven't tried ice cream yet, he is younger then your lo. Coz my lo chucks tanties over finishing his bottle.

Omg! My dd fell off our very high bed for the first time. My son has never (even to this day) had any incidents where he rolled off the bed, changing table, ECT so it was so scary! I flew up the stairs at unhuman speeds and screamed very dramatically when I saw her on the floor sobbing. Then she started smiling and laughing the moment I picked her up...and I shook for an hour afterwards while she acted like nothing happened. Kids...

This afternoon my OH went to his parents and i was home alone with both bairns. I was sitting on the settee holding my 6 week old and emily was standing in front of us, she decided to throw her toys at me and when i told her no she started throwing a tantrum and tried to lash out at me and when i told her no again, she threw herself to the floor in a huff and out of rage she proceeded to nip and grab nathan but i slapped her hand out of the way before she could and i growled at her and the soul burst out crying which she never does with me! i instantly felt horrible even though she was lashing out at the baby in frustration and anger. I never hurt her hand, i think she started crying out of shock because 'mummy never hits'. It definitely couldnt have hurt her because she came climbing up beside me and cuddled in and stopped crying within 20 seconds. I however felt like a terrible person

That moment you realise the baby monitor isn't switched on, only to find they have been crying for god knows how long :-(
My LO won't look at me, just keeps turning his red blotchy face away......

The other day I put dd in the swing and forgot to buckle her in. I literally wasn't looking for 2 secs and I heard a thump! She had rolled out f the swing!! I scooped her up and she just laughed but I felt horrible! And of course dhade it worse by telling me she could've died and I need to be more careful :'(

Men are so dramatic! I doubt she would've died!
Once they reach toddlerhood you realise how indestructible they are, mine ran face first into a brick wall the other day and was more bothered about getting back to his ball than letting me clean him up! (Little graze bruise and bump to the head, no biggie)
Yesterday was my bad mummy moment, we went to the farm and I wanted to bottlefeed the baby lambs but while we were talking to the guy and checking times Flynn was standing next to me and slipped and banged his nose on the metal fence post.
I feel awful coz he's getting a little black eye! The photos of us shortly after are priceless tho, both stood feeding this lamb with te biggest grins ever!
He forgave me quite quick.

This evening i was putting away Isaacs toys, Isaac was lay on the floor in front of me and i was stood, crouching over his toy box when i had his Vtech crawl about ball (motorised ball that rolls) in my hand and i scopped over to put it in his toy box but the ball rolled out of my hand and hit Isaac on the forehead (from a 2 ft drop roughly and the ball weighs 1 and a half pounds). well Isaac cried, i cried and a huge bruise appeared instantly on his head. How bad did i feel..... i now hate that god damm ball!.
We phoned NHS direct and got some lovely advice, but my goodness he is bruised and i feel rubbish :-(

Oh dawn poor you! That ball is a beast! Ive dropped it on my baby's foot and his hand, seperately, days apart.

Glad you got advice from nhs. Don't beat yourself up, things happen and your LO still loves you SO much.

Joy x

I can hardly bring myself to write this because I feel so bad....
On Monday we were on a flight on our way back from NZ to London. I was shattered.
We had been using the bassinet to store all our crap when LO wasn't sleeping in it. I have no explanation why i did this other than a momentary lapse of reason, but he was sleeping in it and I threw a (full) bottle of water onto his head. He didn't cry but gave me a look I won't forget. 'Why did you do that mummy?' As if I didn't feel bad enough my OH had a right go at me as well.....

Update on the farm injury, we now have two black eyes and a big mark across the top of his nose where he got his head stuck in a cardboard box at grandmas.
I give up.
I'm really glad I live with a social worker who specialises in child abuse cases or I'm sure I'd be in prison by now!
Also I forgot what treats he had had today and he ended up getting three times as much chocolate and biscuits as i usually would let him, it's been a stressful day what with dh doing his driving test (pass) mil having a skip delivered and us having to fill it for her, viewing a house with mil where Flynn just ran wild! Then a quick dinner and hysterics from an over stimulated over tired toddler, early bedtime coz he was so tired Abd then him getting out of bed a million times before going to sleep.
And my wine tasted weird and I had to throw it out.

The terrible twos is like Groundhog Day, the only difference from one day to the next is the cause of the tantrum.

Micah drank from the cat bowl today!!! OH saw him do it too, and instead of stopping him he just called me over to watch! (It was quite funny lol) can it do any harm? (obviously I won't let him do it again!!)

:haha:

He should be fine as long as the bowl was relatively clean. I used to eat cat food when I was little and I turned out alright. :haha:

I took Chloe's dummy away this evening and despite feeding and rocking and ahhh patting she still cried for an hour before she went to sleep. I am the meanest mummy and I feel so bad and oh is cross with me for doing it too :(

Nothing to feel guilty about! In my opinion, the earlier you take the dummy away, the better! Ive heard its a lot harder trying to take a dummy off a two year old... we had to take emilys dummy away in december because she wasnt sooking it, she was using it as a teether and bit holes all round the teat! as long as she has her comfort teddy she is all good, there is NO CHANCE of taking her teddy away! :haha: xx

My Lo just refused to sleep last night and I had a horrible toothache....well around 4 a.m. we finally got to sleep again on the couch. I woke up at 5 am to find her on the carpet walking around.....I felt horrible and it really scared me, no more couch I guess but I was so tired I slept thru her climbing down!

:(

I'm sitting here watching my play with and chew on a rubber monkey dog toy and I'm doing nothing to stop him. I've taken it away over and over and my lovely lab just keeps taking it right back to him. So I just decided to let him play with it for a while and bore himself of it so it wont be so attracting to him anymore.

I do exactly the same :haha: He still prefers the dog toys to his own, and he's had full reign of them for months... Funnily enough, the dog thinks the same of his toys.
