:happydance: np ladies! my lips are sealed!!

ooooh, just found this thread, I love it, can I join??

I'm Catherine and I'm 29. Currently pregnant with my first, due on 8 November. We live in Bangor and I'm originally from near there (Crawfordsburn), while DH is from Lancashire (hence as Emy mentioned I 'imported' him!). No local friends who have babies so far and none with any immediate prospect so would love to get involved in any local meets etc once LO is here (and I am on lovely lovely maternity leave.... 10 weeks to go!).

Would love to hear about people's experiences with all the difference NI hospitals, especially the Ulster Hospital, if anyone wants to share (Ni firsttimer I think read your birth story a while ago, it was awesome, thank you for sharing!)

So great to find an NI group!

:)

Welcomes! :hugs:

I sooo want to go to a meet, but I work fridays and weekends so it has to be midweek to suit me :-(

Thanks EmyDra!

How long are you planning to be off on maternity leave? Hopefully we can both make it to a meet then!

I can get paid for 9 months, so will definately take all of that, then I can take 3 months unpaid or further time unpaid if I would like. Probably just the 9 months but I will see how I go.

Mine will probably start late November/early December. I don't fancy working any lenght of time into December whilst huge and amongst the busiest month of the year. You aren't permitted in my work to take any normal hols in December - so am obviously milking it!

Hi, My name is Debbie and I'm..... oh, wrong group!

I'm Debbie, mummy to 1 little girlie - Abbie, who was born March '09. Want another ONE someday, but not soon lol, is that bad?!

Hmmmm something interesting? Er, I dunno, I's a short arse? 5ft0. Nope, that's not interesting... I'll get back to you on that one!! I'm an Usborne Rep? (www.littlebooklovers.co.uk)
My favourite activities... oooh too many now!! I spend alot of my time making things. Both for my website (click below) and in general. I also spend alot of time behind my camera. Have a wedding to photograph soon!!

And here endeth the shameless plugs.

Just been looking at your website and your stuff is gorgeous! Have a taggie blanket on my list but wanted to wait until I knew if it should be pink or blue (on team yellow) - must remember to order one from your site then! Gorgeous site too btw - v stylish & professional.

Hi Minx! Congratulations to you!

Your GP will probably offer a pregnancy test, but some don't if you've used a good quality one, will ask you the date of your last period and give you an EDD (estimated date of delivery) S/he will ask what sort of birth you want and what hospital will be your preference. They will write to the hospital and then usually from then on the care is shared. Unless there are complications, you only really go a couple of times to the hossy for scans etc. Usually your GP and local midwife team are in charge of your Ante natal care. AND you should be given a copy of Emma's Diary which is a wee booklet and contains a lot of useful information about what to expect in pregnancy.

That's been my experience of the first visit to the GP. It's really to confirm pregnancy and get your AN care kick-started. I've done it three times (so far...)

Good luck! A healthy and happy 9 months to you!

Hopefully I can go to Altnagelvin tho, their new maternity wing is like a hotel! OH's baby brother was born there last month, and it's class inside!!

my doc asked what i'd tested with and took my word for it when i said clearblue digi. she reckoned that was more reliable than her diptest anyway  (I didn't tell her that i'd actually used about a squillion ebay cheapies, 4 boots ownbrand and a digi to "double check")
