I wanted to come on here and wish all of you luck. Soon I will be joining you as well.
Here's the thing that you don't think will happen to you.
For the past two years, when I've obtained a cold, I've coughed, mostly at night for months later. It's to the point where you are gagging and almost throw up. Last year I was pregnant so did nothing about it.
This year, I caught a cold in February and I've been coughing consistently in the night ever since. I went to a doctor (mine was away) a month ago and he said that I may have asthma/allergies which is initiated by a cold. I have an inhaler and my cough didn't get any better.
So I have recently gone to my own doctor for a second opinion. My coughing is getting worse, and it was bad before. The coughing starts at around 7-8 every night, I am moaning in my sleep, I am coughing in my sleep and when I do wake up from it at night, which is often, I am up for an hour or more consistently coughing more. I am exhausted.
My doctor is sending me for a lung capacity test and lung x-rays. Either it has to do with asthma or, as they will tell from the x-rays, pulmonary disease. Kind of a scary thought actually.
My mom has asthma and she also has lung disease.
Obviously, this is from smoking. I did this to myself and we think that we are all invincible and it won't happen to us. But it does.
Good luck ladies! I am going in for laser therapy to help me quit smoking and will be making this appointment very, very shortly.
