Ugh - feeling fed up

We're off to the vets in half an hour or so. Booo... The dog has been having these odd sort of fits (though they're not actually) where he collapses and poos everywhere. It's not pleasant and every time we think he's dying but then once we've calmed him down he gets up and is happy as ever. Dunno what's going on with him... Hopefully he's just getting incontinent with old age and combined with his dreadful arthritis he's just struggling to do everythign at once, like walk and not poo for example.

I hope all goes well for your dog. I have an aging springer spaniel who's going a bit deaf now, he means the world to me so I can understand you being worried. :hugs::hugs:

Hope you feel better soon xx

Keep smiling x

:hugs:

Hey you're back! Hope you're rested though!

I'm just back from the vets. We have to take a pee sample in when we can to check his kidney function but we don't think his drinking and weeing habits have changed at all in the 3 or 4 years we've had him so hopefully that will come out clear. But he has lost weight and his arthritis is just terrible and there's nothing more we can do about it. The vet said to massage his legs to help the blood flow and to move them about to try and improve the muscle. We can't walk him more because his legs aren't strong enough - it's catch 22. Poor little old guy... Feel sad that he might die in the near future. :-(

And my stupid next delivery came after 6pm having waited in since 1pm! Grrrr.... But on the plus side the dress I got from Topshop is actually really great so I'm keeping that for the fancy dinner I ahve for work in Sept. It's here: https://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/..._category_rn=42391&productId=771027&langId=-1
I'm really pleased with it and DH thinks it looks fab!

So sorry to hear your dogs not well, its a horrible feeling when you carnt do much to help !

Glad you finally got your delivery and your dress is beautiful !!

It's stupid me having this whinge when loads of people (you included Kelly!) having been having serious times just now. But sadly it can't be helped, I blame the hormones!

Ahh your poor wee dog, I hope the test come back good. Your dress is lovely!

Don't underestimate how much good things like massage can do for old pups. They get so much comfort from that sort of thing. And it makes us feel so much better to be able to do it for them, too.
I was really grumpy and miserable several times over the weekend. I am all panicked about being such a procrastinating fool all summer, and just indulging myself in a state of preggy daydreaming when I have such a huge workload. But the panic worked: I suddenly just flipped a switch and am starting to churn stuff out at a crazy pace!
That's the nice part of hormones - they swing both up and down!
Hugs to you!

Everyone is allowed to have off days! It is par for the course!!

And as for your dog..I've been concerned about the way my cat has been walking (he's really old, he's going to be 15 people years old in November) so I started massaging him when he comes and lays down with me. He LOVES it, all he does is purr his head off. Normally he won't let anyone pet him unless he's in a mood for it, but he doesn't do a thing but enjoy it when I actually massage him.

Haha, my dog is funny, when we massage his legs now he starts to play! He's always played funny, he rolls around scratching his face and roaring like a lion, he's a bit of a weirdo after all his years of mistreatment and isolation before we got him! He likes having his legs pulled but now we're to do that to try and exercise the muscle so he stretches out to play making it impossible!

I know what you mean about procrastinating. I have the same problem. I've got about 2 months left of work which includes two science festivals, one of which I'm running three events, the other of which I have solid meetings and have to move to a different city for a week for and stay in a hotel. Then there's all the handover stuff... Very stressful!

Awwww, that's very sweet! 15 is really good for a cat too! I hope you get some more good years out of him. We're just so happy that our dog has been happy with us when he's clearly been miserable forever before we found him. But it breaks my heart to see him getting old like this. If he dies before the end of my pregnancy I'll go into early labour I think from the stress. I was so upset when he collapsed the other day and DH hadn't seen it before and thought he was dying. :-(

It's the worst thing about pets, they're one of the family! We're going to get a tortoise one day and by the time we do it'll outlive us - hooray!

So my journey was pretty nightmarish yesterday! I had to get a total of 7 trains in the one day and was travelling for 7 hours altogether. Here's how it all went down:
Monday - I forgot to book my tickets online so wouldn't be able to get to a fast ticket machine before the journey
Tuesday - went twice to the local train station at about 1.45pm and 4.10pm only to find the station shut!
Wednesday - went to the station again on the way to aquanatal. Wasted 25 mins there making me late and stressed for aquanatal. Arrived and said I want to reserve seats, passed a slip of paper through with all the times and route etc. Got my tickets, no seat reservations. Asked again so he spent 20 minutes no being able to get them at which point I really had to go and decided to phone to do it. Got home later to find they won't reserve seats over the phone unless you buy the ticket at the same time. Could've done all this on the stupid net!
Thursday - set off on my journey, get to Manchester and try to reserve seats for the return journey, get a seat on one of the trains but not the one leaving York at 5.30pm! Get on the first train to York and the conductor tells me my ticket isn't valid. See the guy at the station who did the tickets did the wrong route which is why he couldn't reserve the seats on the trains I wanted, even though I'd told him the route and train times! The route he did is one that takes at least an hour longer each way. Fortunately the conductor was prepared to overlook it but I was able to pay the extra £4 (wow) to get the right route.
Manage to get a seat on the train from York, just, and was actually next to quite a nice guy who was travelling with his two small sons. Later he swapped seats with one so I would have more room (bless) and the 9 year old was super-sweet and entertained me on the way to Newcastle!
Then on the way home, we finished the meeting a bit early so I rushed off to the station to see if I could get an earlier train to York to arrive and watch a direct train to Manchester leaving. Boo. no more trains until the one I was booked on so sat around when I could've been touring the Centre for Life instead. This train was delayed by the 8 mins I needed to make the connection in York so wouldn't have had my seats in the end anyway! Waited for the next one to Manchester, stood up for 15 mins as everyone was on all the seats and no-one offered. Got on the train and watched a young energetic man sit in the priority seats then had to fight tooth and claw with some woman for a seat. She couldn't have been more than late 40s and got off at the next stop anyway! Finally get to Manchester and find that the connecting train now is not even the direct one to my station so had to change AGAIN!!

And now I have a cold.

So now I can just copy all this and paste it into a letter of complaint for National Rail about what incompetency of staff leads to! lol
