no. everyone should get bbc NI on their sky / virgin, and watch special deliveries! its the hosp that ruby was born in! last week there was a baby born in her pool!
starts at 10.35 :)

Is it the Ulster Hospital? My hubby was born there!!xx

I just compared Omar's Dr. Browns bottles to my breasts. Nope, they dont look alike. My breasts dont have anti-colic vent, his bottles have :D

Haha I hope thats not the only differance, do your ends screw off? :)

Opps, I didnt try it. mmm, can only go half way, but it doesnt come out. Am I doing sth wrong?

& the bottle nipple is much larger than mine (mine r flat). This is why Omar prefered the "artificial breast" I guess :haha:

Abby was breastfed until two weeks ago. I stopped and within 3 days she had a very bad throat infection.

There you have it - absolute proof that breastfeeding protects against bugs an leads to healthier babies......

.....Or it could just be that after 3 months at nursery she was bound to pick up something and she'd have been ill whatever. :dohh:

Some breastfed babies are ill alot and some formula fed babies are healthy all the time. The point is, as long as a baby is fed, you're doing ok. It is entirely up to you how you do it.

Of course there are benefits from breastfeeding and my own preference would be to see more mothers do it, simply because I loved doing it and I know that if you can push through the difficulties, it can be a wonderful thing to do. But I wouldn't judge anyone for choosing not to. Your baby, your life, your choice.

oooh. ive not saw a frog for years actually. might go frog hunting

hehe thats what i sound like!!!
ruby was born in room 2, thats our pool!!!!

Oooh there's a baby prog on????... actually, I can't watch any more tonight... it's been enotional to say the least lol

I go to work for the day..... and it's about 60 pages later

To respond to the bits of this (I can't say I read every bit in detail!)

I FF having combined for the 1st month and I did at first feel that I'd "failed". Having said that, I've no problem hearing how lovely others find BFing - in fact, it's really heartwarming sensing the joy in the posts many BFers make. I'm sad I didn't have the chance to really experience that - but I have a lovely bond with my LO and still bond when feeding her from a bottle (which look nothing like my breasts may I add :haha:). I do admit that on the odd occasion a post about BFing does come across as smug but that is the exception rather than the rule and I tend to shrug it off (life's too short and I'm sure it's not intended to cause any anguish to people). Many of the BFing posts encourage me to have another go at BFing should we be fortunate to have another child.

In terms of the word "artificial" ~ I know it's the medical term but I have to admit my first reaction to it was a negative one (I'd never heard the term before reading this thread!). In my head it implies fake and sounds like quite a condescending term. I understand that formula is artificial and so it is a perfectly valid description but I'm not sure the connotations attached to calling something artificial are helpful.

Oh and just to add - I'm not a big fan of frogs! They are a bit jumpy for my liking (the ones with the zimmer frame might be okay though) :haha:

That pretty much sums up how I felt after my first.

I was then lucky enough to come across some fabulous women in a now extinct small crunchy forum who gave me the support and inspiration to try again and to look at how circumstances conspired to prevent me from successfully breastfeeding first time around. Crucially, without making me feel guilty about how my child was fed.
(My problems though were basically from lack of support, poor advice, lack of knowledge, misinformation from those around me, poor choices etc rather than that I physically couldn't breastfeed as I first assumed.)

agreed. its not the word, but the connotation. we dont go around talking about 'artificial nappies' and we wouldnt dream of talking about csection ladies & their 'artificial births' so why is it necessary to continue to use this 'artifical feeding' thing!

To be fair, I do feel like a fraud when it comes to birth. I have a baby but have no idea what it feels like to have a contraction or be in labour. :dohh:

I don't like the word "artificial" when it comes to formula. It doesn't sound right.

When Abby was in NNICU they gave her a fluid called TPN which basically gave her everything she was getting through the umbillical cord. It wasn't "artificial" as far as I'm concerned, I prefer the word "synthetic"
