Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Ali- Awesome temp spike today! Got my fx'd for you, can't wait to get some awesome news in about 10 days!!

Jess- how are you doing? When will you start temping? I think if you normally temp at 4:am when you get up that's awesome but if you want to sleep in on the weekends, just temp when you wake up  I think temping is awesome, but don't let it get in the way if living, you know? :hugs:

Hi Coy!! :hi: Today is CD1 for me... AF came two days early this month...26 day cycle..
But I will start temping tomorrow morning. I hope I can figure out FF by then!! ...abnd how to post it too...

I am glad to hear that you are working out and eating healthy!! I LOVE it!!

Aw, stupid AF! :growlmad: Are your cycles usually 26-28 days?

Yep...like clockwork...but for the last 3 months they have been consistently 28 with spotting starting about 4 days before. But this time, no spotting and early. Could be from the extra running...I've added about 6 miles a week for the last three weeks... Well, there was a little spotting after BD'ing on Monday but that's it...
Oh well, I'm not giving up!!

You're a funny girl!!
First of all, I don't think you have any fat to spare!1
Second, I don't want ANY extra!
But I am not super lean right now. And I never get so lean that it effects my cycle. And I don't think the exercise is too much either...I work out less now than I did 15 years ago...

15 years ago all I did was teach aerobics (4-6 classes a day!) and then I would do my own workouts...not to mention the hiking and biking I did every weekend. Austin is in the heart of the Texas hill country and has some of the best hiking and biking trails in the state!

It is just so strange to me that all my tests from the FS have been perfect...my ovaries look great with lots of follicles...on both sides, I have regular cycles (always have), I don't have PCOS or any other issues...I had a baby 15 years ago...and now...NOTHING!!! :growlmad:

I really think it might be BF...but he is younger than me and he probably thinks it is me! Lol! You know how some men might have EGO issues if their swimmers aren't working just right...

But, like I said...I'm NOT giving up! I just might drive everyone crazy in the process!!

I was thinking it might be BF too, but  And yes, men have ego issues...My dh is awesome about that but he is uber confident to the point of arrogance  so he struts, you know? :haha: But some guys (especially younger) may feel challenged about the topic, and understandably.

Re: the workouts. As long as they are something you have always done then I think you are certainly doing the right thing keeping up. You are superbly healthy and if FS reports are all perfect then you got nothing to worry about. And I want to give you my fats anyway  Jk, I'll keep them for now :sadangel:...lol!

 !!! You are so funny...I am sure we can find some unsuspecting super model to donate waht little fat you have!!
We can sneak up on her like a :ninja:...drop it and RUN!!!
Or we could even :serenade: and act like we are :friends:...and leave it for her...by the time she notices, it will be too late!!

Thanks Coy! Yes it is always nice to see that spike!! I am hoping I ovulated on 7/10, but I fear I ovulated last night. I felt a few sharp pains on my left ovary about 10pm last night. With my IUI on 7/10 it would be better if I ovulated on 7/10 as the sperm only live up to 48 hours. If it was the O I felt last night that would have been at 36 hours, so I think I am still OK. Although someone said in another thread that sperm only live 36 hours post IUI? I read that once they are out of the semen, they live longer. So I'm really not sure?? What is your take?

Jess - sorry about AF, that stinks, but hey, it allows you to start anew! Plus now that you are going to temp and all of that jazz it makes this cycle different and more exciting :) If your tests have all come back good, then the next thing to do might be checking your tubes? It worked for me (they were able to open mine up), plus I have read that many women that had been having trouble getting pregnant got pregnant the month following the HSG. Even if they aren't fully blocked, giving them a flush sometimes clears out the cobwebs so to speak. Maybe your RE would consider getting this done fore you? Worth asking!! GL in August

Coy - would you please eat already! Don't worry about what your Dr is saying. You are in great shape, and shouldn't have to worry too much about your weight (well if you start eating quarter pounders from McDonalds for breakfast, lunch and dinner then I would worry). My point being is that you need to make sure you are getting enough nourishment for you and the baby! So please EAT!!! As for your crazy neighbors and walking, do you have mace? I would get some, and carry that. That way you can keep doing your walks, and be protected from your  neighbors!!

Can I get in on this caper? I have about 20 lbs of fat to donate, any takers? Maybe I can mail it :mail: it to an unsuspecting thin person?

Hey.. so I was checking out my timing and was hoping for some help here.. trying to figure out if the predictions are true or not? I have heard that if you BP the first few days you are fertile that you are more likely to have a girl, but if you BD right before or on the day you O that you are more likely to have a boy. Does anyone know if this is true or if there is any credence to it?

If it is true, then it is more likely that I will have a boy then a girl.

Scroll to the bottom of this website..it allows you to put in the day of your last cycle and it gives you ovulation information. And below that, it basically tells you when to BD in order to have a boy or a girl...But who knows if it is really true? Probably based on strength and life cycle of the :spermy:

YEP.. that is the same thing (well different site) that I was looking at. So according to this it looks like I have 2x more chance to have a boy then a girl. Course I have to get a :bfp: first!!!

Hi girls, catching up after a few days away with my parents caravaning. I'll probably reply to a few posts so apologies if I read on and similar comments are already on! :winkwink:

TerriLou... if it is of any help I too have PCOS, which I think I have already mentioned a few times :haha:. Anyway, if your pain is a deep stabbing like pain, especially around the time working up to ovulation and ovulation, odds on from me is that the pain is from your cysts so don't listen to your doctor. I was crippled for about 5 years with this and still get it the odd cycle but I find now I have my PCOS under control a bit more this has subsided for me a lot. Two consultants also asked me this question and agreed with me, after other doctors dismissed the pain as well xo

Thanks Ali, I'll think of you on my next Doctors visit, hopefully you'll help me to put my foot down. I've just turned 37 btw.

Yes! Pretend you are me (or Coy) as we are both pretty assertive  I'm turning 40 in October, so I'm a few years ahead of you. I have a friend that said her periods stopped coming but for every 2-3 months, like you. She wasn't trying to conceive so the Dr put her on BCP, and now she is regular. She mentioned that if she had been trying to conceive the Dr was going to put her on metformin if that didn't get things going they were going to add clomid. She was diagnosed with PCOS, which is why she wasn't having her period as often. Could this be the reason your periods are so long?

Ali, yes, I have PCOS, well, I was diagnosed with it about 20 years ago, I mentioned it to the doc, asking him if it was that causing the pain. He just poked around at me and said he could feel an inflamed ligament, so put it down as groin strain. I'm sure its a cyst there causing it, but if the pain is still there, I will go back for that second opinion.

I wish I could be assertive, I'm often being told I'm too soft. Even my Hubby tells me that, but then he is very similar too.

The whole boy girl probability things comes from the fact that boy sperms are typical male...move fast but burn out quick. They have better motility but die quicker.

Whereas the girl sperm are more like the tortoise, move more slowly but are in for the long haul.

This is why supposedly sex a few days before O has a theoretical higher chance of producing a girl & right at the time of O more chance of a boy.

But like with everything its still all down to who gets to the egg at the RIGHT time

I have PCOS too, also used to get excrutiating pain for about 3 days the time of ovulation when they scanned both my ovaries where 3 times the size they should have been & very cystic which was the cause of the pain. I was put on metformin for a few years & once more under control like Angel said the pain wasn`t as bad, still feel pinching pains though.

Gosh ladies, you are all a chatty bunch:friends:, it's taken me about 45mins to catch up on the thread.

Jess... just play with FF, it can seem confusing but you'll soon get the hang of it. I'm still figuring it out, I only clicked this cycle why they colour code part of your cycles under the Stats row

Claire :happydance::happydance::happydance: :cloud9:, so happy for you lady! :flower:. Have you had any luck with the doctor yet? Sorry for asking, how many MCs have you had, and have you had any testing done? Please think positive, every pregnancy is different and all that, I had a healthy DS after 3MCS. I hope this post reads properly! xoxo

Ali.... fingers crossed for you honey, everything looks even better this cycle so will say a wee prayer that this IUI gives you your rainbow baby :hugs:

Alin and Terri... how's things?

Coy... your bump is gorgeous and I can tell you about 95% of other pregnant women would be jealous as you are so neat :winkwink: California or Hawaii, exciting :coolio:

Welcome to our other new ladies :hi:

AFM... DPO4, not holding out much hope this month as we only got one :sex: session in around ovulation :growlmad:. Although on the positive it only takes ones session! :haha: I use Instead Cups as well to make sure those :spermy: boys have the best chance of getting up there. I keep it in for 12 hours which is the maximum so you never know :winkwink: It's only my first month back TTC after my latest MC so I'm just trying to go with the flow.

Ali, I agree with Claire- the theory is that boy sperm move faster, so if you only bd say the day of or the day before OV then you are likely to have a boy. But if you bd say 5 days before, then three days before, then the dau of more likely to have a grl. This is because the boy-sperms of 5 and 3 days before are likely to have died or are taking a break :haha: whereas the girls trudged along up the tube and are chilling up there waiting for the egg. So in your case I'd say oyur chances of girl are pretty high! See, I am having a girl and dh and I bd'd 1, 4, & 5 days before Ov and one day after. But the girl-sperms from the days prior seemed to have been ready and waiting  It's all a guessing game  LOL! Start buying yellow and green !

Angel- thank you! I appreciate all of the support you ladies give me :hugs:

And yes- it only takes once! (Isn't that what we tell all the teenagers?!) So fx'd for you this month!!

Ali- re:the eating...hmmm I am cooking burgers at the moment LOL! But at least they are homemade, right? lol...

I had 7 MC then had DS (with fertility treatment) who is now 6. Had a 2 MC after him. Decided about 4 years ago I couldn`t take the heartache anymore & counted my blessings that I have my gorgeous boy. His dad walked out when he was just over a year old after a 10 year marriage. Then I met my current DF 4 years ago and after much deliberation decided we would like to try to have a child together (he has 3 older boys). Over the 10 or so years of actively trying I think I had every test under the sun & even tho the PCOS was atributed to the difficulty conceiving they said that the losses were down to bad luck as it seemed to be a different cause each time.

Anyway thats my life story lol...sorry for waffling:wacko:

As for the doctor I never recieved the phone call they promised so i`ll just have to hound them some more tomorrow

Oh Claire, please do hound, you need all the support you can get, for your health and sanity :hugs:. You've been through the mill so much, I pray this is your rainbow baby.

My story in a nutshell; have had gynae problems over 16+ years, no periods for about 7 years, I had Female Athlete Triad. Once my competing days were over they started returning but only a couple a year, and I had pains all the time. A laparoscomy only reavealed a hostile womb whatever that is lol :haha:. Anyway, after TTC for about 5 years more tests revealed PCOS had developed, we had 6 cycles failed fertility treatment on Clomid so I then did all the research and went the natural and alternative medicine/therapy routes. Conceived within 2 cycles but went on to have 3 MCs then had DS in Nov 10. Once my periods returned last November (I was breastfeeding) we went back on the TTC bandwagon but I've had another 2MCs this year, the last one at Easter. I've now went from the not being able to conceive to not being able to keep them bracket

And pooey to your docs again (sorry) but us PCOSers do have a higher risk of mc, although they are not sure why. They think it is the uneven sugar levels and/or hormones that affect fetus growth or/and the sticky blood issue. This is why a lot of PCOSers are prescribed metformin, claxane, aspirin or a combination depending on where they sit through their tests.

Are you taking junior aspirin? I was told after my latest MC by the consultant and GP to take it as soon as I got a BFP if my tests have not come through. They both suspect my issue is the sticky blood one as I have lost most of mine at 8-10weeks and they have all appeared healthy beforehand :cry:.

If your GP is no help can you contact your midwifery clinic directly?

:hugs::hugs:

Strange metabolism of late...today I had fruit and granola for breakfast, then as a snack some shred wheat. Took a long (albeit HOT) walk with the girls and when we got hom I got what we call the shakes- where you feel all weak and start cold sweating. My blood sugar was dropping super fast for some reason  and felt like I was going to pass out until I got it back up. So I had to chug some fruit juice and eat some crackers. Then I made sandwiches for lunch but weird, right?! Not sure what causes it
