Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

:hi: Hello everyone!! I trust everyone had a great weekend!

Any new BFP that I don't know of? Ali.......how are things? :)

Coy, I tried to get some rest, but it seems I always manage to find something to do! Lol! But I did manage to squeeze in some sushi with BF on Saturday...

hi guys am 38 and ttc for 1st time..been trying for about 6 months now. just had first appoint with NHS and private dr this week so starting to get ball rolling. had that AMH test today so 2 weeks for reults to see how many eggs i have left? hubbie has had semen analysis 2 weeks ago and he has super sperm:thumbup: so he's not the prob!!! hoping my journey is not too long!! it's so hard that all i seem to see everywhere is pregnant women and babies!!!:baby:

Hi Sarlou! :hi: My name is Jess...and I wish you a very short journey!! :winkwink:

Welcoms Sarlou! I'm Ali and I'm 39 and single and trying to conceive on my own using IUI and donor sperm. I just had my second IUI last week, and am now 5DPO, waiting to see if this is my month! Best of luck for a short journey to a :bfp:

WOW! I can't believe how much I miss with being away for a day or so. 3 pages of messages.. So cool that there are so many of us here to chat and discuss all the different things we are going through :hugs:

Jess - morning to you too! You need to set a different alarm for 4:25 or something to make sure you test before you get out of bed. I use my cell phone alarm, and the different alarm helps remind me to grab the thermometer.

Claire - get some blood work done ASAP to ensure that you have a high enough level of progesterone. That is what is going to sustain your bean until the placenta takes over at 10-12 weeks. If it is low, you may run the risk of having a MC. So keep on your Dr's and get them to test!! So happy for you and your :bfp:

Coy - hope you and your girls are doing well? I think perhaps my higher temps are due to the fact that I'm not under A/C and it is definitely HOT up here! In FL I practically live in A/C, but at the cottage we only have open windows and fans. I did have a bit of a dip this morning, not sure if that is implantation or the fact that it was cooler this morning? I'm only at 98.1 or 98.2 then this morning it was 97.84. I guess we'll have to see what it does tomorrow. I'm only 5DPO today, maybe too soon for implantation? I guess only time will tell?

Welcome to all our newcomers.. I really do hope that you all join us in our discussions, and best of luck!! :dust:

Nope, actually 5 dpo can be perfect for implantation...They say 7 days from sex  to implantation...As you didn't have any sex but went straight for the trigger  I'd say you skipped a good day or so of travel time for your olympique swimmers :haha: 5 dpo is a good day for implantation. But outside things can cause a variation or two and there is of course the ocassional "throw-away" temp  Got my fx'd! Strange to come from FL all nice and cool and hit Canada and heat up lol! Strange planet...

Hi ladies! :hi:

Jess- glad you got some rest, sushi sounds yik  but I'm not a big fish eater! Not since Alaska fish camp (year after year )with thousands of fish and fish for dinner every night  LOL!

AFM- had a nice restful night, woke up and went for my morning walk in the cool air, had shredded wheat for breakfast...Now the girls want to go walking again but's raining out :nope: Dh and I have been having them go out in the front yard and practice their kata and punches, kicks, etc, in the morning while it's cool. Poor little Kat keeps running into the boucning back punching back and getting hit in the face  KIDS. LOL!

Finishing up my final asignment for this course in criminology, I did most of it yesterday  so get most of today for whatever I want :cloud9: lol!

Ooh, I hadn't thought about that! My swimmers would probably have reached the egg sooner than those with normal sex! HEHE. Maybe you are right! Plus there is some chance I ovulated a day earlier than my chart suggests. Certainly makes you go hmmm... I just ate and now I'm suddenly feeling like I could puke it all back up. WOW, ya.. I think I'll have to break out the dollar store cheapies tomorrow morning and see what they say. :saywhat: I hope they say :bfp:

I'm with you.. no fish for me right now! Although I do normally love sushi, and fish. Not with the way my tummy is feeling at the moment. :nope:  Glad you get to have a free day to relax and enjoy :) We all need that sometimes.

ali feeling like you wana puke is a wicked sign fingers crossed cant wait to see what your tests say

I hope you are right, but I've been feeling like this on and off for 2-3 days. So maybe it is just me and my dislike of progesterone? I must say that right now my  is way worse than the past few days.

I wanna feel like I wanna PUKE  !! ...but only if it means I am pregnant!

Ali...I just said a prayer for you! :hugs:

Hi ladies!

Nuts, I mentioned that I had shredded wheat for a late breakfast/early lunch...It's weird, because I exercised, had coffee and saltine crackers, then at 11:30 a.m. had shredded wheat then went for anohter walk with the girls (albeit a 7 and 3 year-old amble walk ). At 12:30 I checked my glucose and it was 118! I am really worried about this. Dh said to check it in half an hour. As my glucose spiked the other day to 108 then dropped to 59 I know my insulin is working, but why the spiking? Nuts, anyhow, I will keep an eye on it. If it doesn't go down quickly I will call my doc about it after his lunch hour :growlmad: Stupid bodies anyway! :grr: lol

You'll get your bfp, then when you're sick your gonna wonder why you wanted the  so much! :haha: But it only lasts a few weeks on average...

Coy...I don't understand all the ins and outs of blood sugar levels... what is high or too high and what is low or too low?

Is it different for pregnant women? I had an aunt that had gestational diabetes and ended up with an 11 pound baby!! OUCH!!

I know a little..

Fasting glucose for a normal person should be under 100. If it is between 100 and 130 then it is considered pre-diabetes, and anything over that is considered diabetes. It will fluxuate throughout the day depending on what you eat. If it gets high, like over 200 and stays that way for a long period of time I think that is an issue, conversely if it dips really low, say below 60 then I think that is an issue too! There is a glucose tolerance test that you can do to properly diagnose diabetes, or gestational diabetes. You drink stuff over a period of time, and they measure your glucose at certain periods. The test takes 3-4 hours I think. I've never had one done, but I have a friend that has done it a few times.

Ali, fingers crossed for you! I got a dip at 6DPO this month as well so hopefully we'll both get those BFPs very shortly . I've had a dip at 5DPO before which resulted in my darling 20month old. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but the symptom spotting has went into overdrive

I had the glucose test for gestational diabetes as type 2 runs in my family. It's a ickly sweet drink you take but some folks hate it, I found it fine lol. My results were ok.
