Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Um, my dh might- he is Oglala Lakota Sioux (partly) LOL! :haha: He says he can't make it rain but he can draw lightening down from the sky  lol!

HMM.. I am not sure how handy that might be? Would prefer some rain!

Lightening might catch your straw on fire!

Well if that happened at least I wouldn't have to water the garden anymore!

OHH.. Jess.. are you still up? Does that mean you decided to give some BDing a try this evening? :sex: HEHE!

Aw, Jess and Ali you two always make me laugh! :haha: Nope, I don't think the lightening would do any of us any good at this point but if ya got some neighbors need scaring he might be handy! LOL!

Ooooo Ali- I just looked again at your chart for today--those are bfp temps girl I don't care what your hpt says!!! :growlmad: I think it's lying to you! :haha: Try with fmu in the morning  I got my fx'd. And can I see pics???LOL! I am addicted to poas and lines.... From what I understand the temp rises in response to corpus luteum producing progesterone. Until c.l. dies just before AF your temp stays high. BUT from what I also understand this rise is generally like between 0.2 and 0.4 degrees F. But your temps are waaaay up there! Anyway, I am not trying to get up any false hopes but it lookes aweosme good to me! If not a bfp then I'd say you def don't have to worry about prodcuing enough progesterone, as long as the c.l. stays put long enough :) Can't wait for testing again! :happydance:

Oh yeah, AFM- I fasted yesterday right, for my GD test this morning? Well, I go to the hospital and they draw my blood and tell me to leave. :Come to find out my doc just wanted to check my blood sugar levels and NOT perform the Glucose test! :saywhat: So I gotta admit I am a bit more than peeved at the careless and casual attitude my doc has taken :growlmad: I do not fancy that nasty drink but I don't want GD sneeking up on me and babes either! So I have an appointment this Thursday with doc for regular checkup and will, ahem, talk more about it then :growlmad: LOL!

Good morning everyone! I finally got my chart in my signature!!

Ali...I tried so hard to stay up last night...but to no avail. There was no BD'ing last night.:nope:

However, I took another opk yesterday afternoon and it was negative. And negative again this morning. And my temp this morning is higher than it's been...temp spike? Meaning ovulation happened early yesterday???
That would be less than 24 hours after my last BD!!
That's good, right???

Jess, sounds like you are going to be just fine! The temp rise does indeed mean that you ovulated yesterday, although FF doesn't give you the official Ovulation date until 3 days of higher temps. Sounds good :)

I just got the call from the FS, and it was negative  I didn't really expect it to be positive, so it wasn't that much of a let down. She didn't say what my hCG was, but I'm assuming that it was negligible, and my progesterone was dropping, she mentioned that it was 9.98 and a week ago it was 31. So I'm sure AF :witch: will be here soon.

I'm to call her when my period arrives and I'll go in for day 3 blood work and a US to give us a baseline. Then she mentioned using the pergonal to get some nice follicles. I haven't decided yet whether I want to do a double IUI or just a single one. I think that the double is better as we can make sure we hit things more accurately, with 2 days of IUIs.

So I guess I'm on to August.. boohoo

Why in the world does this process have to be so darn difficult for some of us and not so difficult for others?? So irritating!! :growlmad:

Ali...I don't know much about hCG or progesterone or IUIs but I do know the sadness that comes every month AF rears her ugly head!! I'm sorry and I wish I could give you a big hug!! :hugs:

My fingers are crossed for you for next month!! What is the benefit of a double IUI?

Thanks Jess! I am doing OK. It wasn't my month.

Well with a single IUI you have to time the squirt really well, to make sure it is at least 12 hours before you O, but not more than 24 hours before. With a double IUI you have 2 chances to squirt the :spermy: up there, and hopefully if you do them at 24 hour increments, then you'll have a better chance of hitting that window. Don't forget that with frozen sperm they don't live as long, no more than 48 hours, and sometimes even less than that! So the window is tighter. This past month I took longer to O then I thought I would and I ended up O'ing 36 hours after the squirt of :spermy: so who knows? Maybe they were tired of swimming around by then? The pergonal is supposed to make really nice healthy follicles, and hopefully we'll even get 2-3! That is my hope, then we'll have a better chance of making this happen. So really I'm not doing too badly. Now I just need AF to show in time for me to be able to do a cycle in August! I need to get my IUIs done by August 10th!

"you have to time the squirt really well, to make sure it is at least 12 hours before you O, but not more than 24 hours before"

That's what I told my dh :haha:

Ali you may be right as far a stiming, all joking aside. As frozen sperms doesn't live as long you may have to do the double IUI. Can you do one, skip a day, then do the other? What is the "trigger" for and can that aid in faster and more predictable ovulation?

Jess- Awesome you got your chart in your sig finally :happydance: Yay! Gives us all something to watch:) I'd say your bd timing is just about perfect so no worries

Ali- if this month shows no bfp then I got my fx'd for next month...how long will you be in Canada??

AFM- It is rainy and cool here today :cloud9: Just my style. I would love to visit cool wet Ireland today  Anyway it was so nice I decided to take a long walk downtown to run all of my errands... as soon as I was far from home it started to rain :haha: Just my luck! Anyway, 40 minutes to an hour in the rain and I was properly cooled down :haha: Dh called to see if I wanted him to come pick me up but I said no because I need the excersize

I am feeling a bit irritable today so am glad it is cool. I woke up this morning with terrible aches and pains  literally my butt hurts :haha: LOL! My hips ache and my tailbone is killing me...dh says I am starting to "spread" (gotta love that term ) in preparation for later birth. He says I have to spread early because I have a small frame  Anyway it is uncomfortable. I read online it can be hormones causing the muscles to relax more, sciatica, or the baby is pressing on a nerve  Then both girls decided to crawl into bed with us this morning which meant dh was hanging off one side of the bed and I on the other- I got smart tho and used a bedside chair for my legs and the top half of me was across my oak desk  When I woke up properly I got disgusted and let the girls have the bed and just got up  Silly kids, they were very comfortable :) therefore could not understand my irritation  lol

Coy...your family sounds absolutely adorable! :hugs: I can see the girls just as comfortable as they can be and you and your dh getting up with aches, pains, and stiffness everywhere!

So you get to have some wet weather today? :rain: sounds so good! It is just plain HOT here in Texas...I have not done my running for the last three days because of it! But, I still worked out.

I sure hope our BD'ing was perfect this month. If I don't get a BFP in the next couple of weeks then there has to be a problem somewhere else. You don't think my temps are too low? Does that even make a difference? I just don't know...

I know it sounds funny, but that is what it is like. I picture a squirt gun with a really long hose and the Dr just 'squirts' it up there! There is really no way to tell how long sperm live once they are 'up there', but I figure we need to err on the side of caution and assume that they don't live more than 36 hours.

The trigger is a shot of hCG that basically triggers you to release the eggs. They monitor you using US to make sure the follicles are nice and ripe, 18mm-22mm and then give you a shot of hCG, it mimics the LH surge and pop go the follicles. 2 months ago we did this, but I ovulated too soon (like 12 hours later), last month we chose not to do it, and I ovulated too late! So I don't know what to think? Am I a story Goldilocks and the 3 bears? Maybe this month things will be just right! :haha:

So this month I am hoping to do the double IUI and do one before the trigger, then go in for one the following day. That should provide enough coverage and get those :spermy: to the egg! Couple that with the pergonal to make really healthy follicles, what can go wrong

Coy.. so sorry you got rained on, I hope you don't get sick because of it! So the aches and pains you are feeling, are they normal? Do you remember feeling them before when you were pregnant? Sounds like the walk was a good idea, to make you feel better. Stretch the muscles and hopefully stop your butt from hurting  I think you mentioned late last night that your Dr only had you come in for a normal fasting blood glucose test? Is he dense? You need the full workup. You sure you want this guy to deliver your baby? Are there any other options? He sounds like a quack!

So glad you got your chart in your signature! YAY!

I don't think it matters how low your temps are, as long as you see the increase around ovulation, and it stays high for a few days. Once you've had 3 higher temps after your OPK, FF will set the coverline and your O date. Then you'll have crosshairs like mine does.

I do think that you BD'd at the perfect time since you O'd the following day. You can't get any better than that. I thin that is what you want to see. The :spermy: up there ready to greet the egg when it pops out. So  it turned out to be perfect timing!!! :happydance:

Hi ladies!

Jess- I think your temps look fine. Every woman "sports" a different basal body temp and your preov and ov temps are usually pretty low. Its the following surge of hormones that pop them up more. Notice though that your temps have gone from 96.2 to 96.8? Generally you will see a 0.2 to 0.4 increase yours went up 0.6! So very good. Um, not sure if you don't get prego this month what the reason could be....I know stats say a 20% chance of getting prego when you are trying each month but what do they know?:haha: I remember you mentioned your BF agreed to the SA at some point or other but can't remember the timeline you two established. It could be just that percentile or it could be his swimmers are confused? Wait and see this month, right! Fx'd :hugs:

Ali- Yeah, I would def go for a "squirt" :)haha:) then the trigger then another squirt :) Or however you time the trigger to get your eggs where you want them in time. I think the double shot is a good idea, especially if you are impatient (like me :haha:)

Re: My doctor. Hm. I have thought alot about this. Dh and I have known him for years as a pediatrician and he is absolutely wonderful- couldn't ask for e better and caring doctor for my girls. And when I had Kat it was an emergency as labor was only 29 minutes so we couldnt make the hour and twenty minute drive to our MW. So this doc showed up and caught her  I did like his bedside manner, he did not insist upon pain meds or stirrups or position - or anything, h let me get comfortable as I could and do my thing. And at that time we were pleased. I am not sure if he is being under-cautios or if I am being over-cautious. He seems to think I am in excellent health so doesn't see the need for pushing further tests. He called and told me I did not need to worry about GD as my glucose was 79- which is perfect. So I think I ill just keep checking it at home to see if anything developes. Oh yeah, he is the only doc in town, I forgot to mention that! :haha: Except for the weird acting one and the "new" guy thst I don't know.....So kind of a rock and a hard spot. Sure glad my dh took midwifing classes!

Good Morning everyone!

Ali...did AF make her appearance yet? We need her to come on now so you can start making plans for next month.

Coy...how are you this morning?h Your DH took midwife classes? Really? That's kinda cool!!

Kelly...how are you doing? Didn't hear from you yesterday...did you start making plans? :winkwink: I hope you are trying not to worry :hugs:

Everyone else out there...WHERE ARE YALL!?!? :)

AFM...I did my temp again this morning...I'm kind of excited about how I keep remembering to do it. I didn't think I would be able to. It was slightly lower than yesterday, but still up higher than it has been. I am officially in the midst of my TWW! [-o<
