Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Melly- of course we care!! :hugs: So glad to get an update from you! Re:doctors office weight scales. They suck. My doc's is always 5-7 pounds heavier--so I try to skip scales in general. Hey- it's all about how we look in jeans anyway, who cares what the scale says?!!:growlmad: lol Oh, after 3 babies I have found myself becoming somewhat desensitized to male Obgyns as well

Ali- are you up to 2 patches now? rather than just the one? Hey- so if this month goes well why cant they just do ET rather than waiting??

Sams- how are you feeling lady?

Babywhisperer- I am excited, I really hope this IUI works for you! When do we start counting down to bfp???

Chantal- I wonder if the anesthetic didn't make you sick? Sometimes it does. That's why they recommend not eating before surgery. How are you feeling today? Glad your dh stayed home :hugs: it's always nice to have a good supporter :hugs:
btw- my bleeding all but stopped right after also.

AFM- hm. K, well-- I have this problem where I only remember to eat once a day OR I eat a yogurt or something. Since I have to take my cednifil with food I usually take it with a yogurt or I eat dinner and take it tigether with my vitamins. Well I find out yesterday that taking cednifil (omnicef) with calcium ( dairy) or iron (vitamins) it binds the antibiotic and it flushes out w/o doing any good :dohh: :dohh: I wish they'd have let me know sooner! Anyway so I call the bee-otch PA. She says "finish out your prescription- I do not want to give you a new prescription". So I tell her I only have one dose left and still have spots of infection. She says "I seriously DO NOT want to give you a new prescription":saywhat: So I lost my temper and demanded "what the hell? Do you WANT me to get worse? It's not like I'm a drug hound lady, begging you for pain meds! I need antibiotic for infection.: Sonuva-B!
btw, thanks ladies re:wood cutting. I have been avoiding my sledge and axe, just using whaat I can for now

Coy... I can't believe the luck you have with doctors! Did you get the prescription in the end?

Chantal... glad to see you on, I've heard a lot of ladies dont bleed after, some do, some might get a bit a few days later. Give yourself time to heal. Your mum is only trying to protect you from more hurt, I'm sure once things settle a bit and she realises your longing to have a child, or at least try she will support you xo

Ali, Sam, Babywhisperer and everybody else, Hi, sorry my brain s=is mush at the moment. I am lurking.

I've been in bed since yesterday and I've just managed to keep some food down this evening, I'm refusing to let it come back up. I have a UTI, a chest cold and I'm constipated on top of MS so I'm feeling a bit low. I really do not want to complain or sound like a moaning mnnie. I am about, I just dont have much energy to post at the moment xo

Melly. Of couse we care. Now visit us more often!!! The scale was broke

Chantal. Im praying for you. You are one strong lady!!!!

Coy. I dont know how you are keeping your cool. Did she end up giving you your prescription? And you need to eat! You look good in your jeans!!!

AFM and TMI. I swear today I bled more than I ever have in my life. WTF!!!! At one point I had to run to the bathroom bc I felt like I was passing something. Well I did, and then there was a gush. I know gross! Well this happened most of the day, Im lucky I was wearing layers and black. I felt weak at one moment. Is this supposed to happen. Ive never been through a miscarriage so I dont know if this is normal?????

I did have a similar issue after my first IVF. I believe it is perfectly normal, in fact my FS told me to expect it to be heavy and painful. I think it's due to the meds, mostly the progesterone. If you are worried, then call your FS. It sucked, I spent my 40th birthday doubled over and crampy. :(. Come to think about it I had a crappy 40th and a crappy Christmas due to failed IVF! :grr:

Wow.. I'm already thinking of the next one. Is this what happens? I'm obsessed.

Sams.. yes it is normal. I did an amazing amount of research trying to find out what I can do to make more eggs! To improve the quality of my eggs!

I'm still trying to figure if all out!

I was going to suggest you talk to your FS about freezing all embryos and waiting a month and doing FET with the eggs. There has been some research lately that as we age the stim meds make the uterus lining less conducive to implantation. So freezing all and waiting a month or 2 can improve your chances.

Food for thought!

Coy..

I hope you get your spots dealt with!!! No fun being sick!
Stay away from the wood pile! Make your DH do it. He should get up and do the manly stuff in the house

AFM.. I'm up to 3 patches. I wonder if that is causing my headache? Can't waif until Thursday to see what my lining looks like! Yes, if the biopsies show that my implantation window is normal, then we repeat the same protocol and do the real FET. If things come back gnarly, then we retry the biopsy in another test cycle and see if the recommendations improve the receptivity of my lining. Then if that looks good then we do the FET in June. I'm getting close to my Cabadian trip so I hope that May works!!

When I spoke to the doctor he stated my problem is thr embryo, not my lining. Seems some didnt make it. Remember I only had 2 left to implant. He said the 2 probably were chromosomally defective.

Sams- nuts for such a bad post-ivf AF :sad1: When will you do it again? Are you going to skip a cycle, or.......?

Ali- wow 3 already? Now what happens?

Chantal- take it easy, give your body time to heal :hugs:

Angel: aw, that sucks, it's like being sick 3 times but all at once! :hugs: rest!

AFM- nope, no prescription...just a culture swab and a promise of maybe an answer maybe days from now, so...... Fc'd I don't die anytime soon :growlmad: JK! lol...no sore throat, just stupid spots

Today I am poooopped! Kat slept soOoo restless last night- I didn't get to sleep til 0530! :saywhat: Her throat makes her snore and each time she snores it scares her and she wakes and runs to mama :haha: kinda cute :laugh2: but sad and tiring too  and up again at 0830. I got wood, shopped, ran errands, bank, bathed the dog (post-skunk  ), and retrieved my bigger co-sleeper from storage...Aeryn is already head/toe in the other one!!

Now I am cooking dinner and looking for something terrible, fattening, and sweet to eat.....anybody know the stats on drinking wine w/bacterial infection??

Coy. Vodka or whiskey may help! Like in the good old days. Well Im skipping this month. Debating april or may.

Ya.. that is probably true, but my lining looked perfect on each visit, so who knows? IMO get yourself on CoQ10, Royal Jelly, Maca Root, Tapioca, and get your DH on CoQ10 and the stuff Chantal suggests for make fertility.

I read somewhere that by the time we are 40, only 25% of our eggs are chromosomally viable. I had 17 eggs and ended up with 6 great embryos. Thing is that just because they look good doesn't mean they are chromosomally viable  The only thing that will tell us that is PGD. So I figure 4 of the 6 embryos are probably OK. I came to that number by considering that most chromosomally inferior eggs will not make it to day 5, then it stands to reason that the good eggs did make it to day 5. So hopefully I still have some good ones left!

pgd???? Maybe they need to do a day 5 transfer next time? So depressing.

Ok Ali, show-off! :haha: Once again you amaze me w/your knowledge of fertility and IVF....

I think the reason I want to try for another is we don't have a boy yet  Dh wants a son, but he is very happy with our 3 dd's, no regrets, just I think innate in men to want a son :)

Sams- gots no Vodka here, but would love to try it someday...Also, I wonder how it affects milk, re:I don't want to compromise Aeryn's immunity at this point. So maybe I should wait  Last night I settled for a huge mug of hot tea

Sams, I remember Ali having some of the same questions on her first IVF...like day 3 or 5? etc....I am not sure what difference it make, I think 5 they are just further along in development so maybe chances for success are higher? But then I thought there was something w/implantation too...don't be depressed! IVF is a helper but it's still largely up to our bodies to perform the big tasks. try to relax and not worry to much :hugs:

Coy.. the trial is boring :coffee: I just stick patches on my body every couple of days and go in for US. I should be ovulating this weekend, then we do the biopsies next week. They are tentatively scheduled for Wed and Fri of next week. Then I get AF, and we wait :coffee: for the results. Then we decide if we're doing the FET or another test cycle.

I don't want to waste my embryos, so they won't be going back in unless I'm convinced we have left no stone unturned!

So when we finally do the FET I will also be doing an IVIg transfusion. It lasts for 4 hours and I've read it sucks. By the last hour you have a fever and the chills and are sweating and shaky. I am dreading that  If I get pregnant I'll have to repeat it for 3 more transfusions

Ok.....WTF is IVIg transfusion? :haha: Is this in regard to NK cells?? Sounds ominous but necessary :hugs:

Sams.. Coy is right. The difference between day 3 and 5 is the development of the embryo. Your FS did the right thing and implanted what you had on day 3. They only recommend day 5 if you have more than 10 fertilized eggs, they figure that up to 60% of them won't make it to day 5, so if they don't have a lot to work with then they do a day 3.

PGD.. is the genetic testing they can do on a day 3 embryo to test the embryo and determine if it is genetically sound, they can also determine the sex. It is expensive and my Dr didn't think it was necessary for me. He said I had great embryos and he didn't think it was necessary unless I wanted a particular sex. Oh, and they also suggested it if I had any genetic issues when they did my initial genetic testing. Since I was OK he said it wasn't necessary. Worked for me! PGD at my clinic was $4800!!!

Off I go to watch NCIS and drinka hot cup of tea :cloud9:........K, not as good as :wine: but it'll do :winkwink: Oh and we rented Maverick's dh used to surf, so  lol

Can your Dr give this PA a talking to? I have never heard of a medical professional being so combative.

Melly Hi girl! Your OB sound great. As far as those scales, they are never correct! Drs don't even weigh me anymore b/c I weigh myself and know my weight. I have a digital Ironman scale that measures body fat and water weight too.

I have no idea when I am getting the IUI yet. Tomorrow is another blood work and u/s day so maybe I will know more then. I am getting a full feeling around my ovaries and the fatigue has started as of Monday.

Chantal my heart breaks for you. I hope the cramps and tummy upset passes soon. Gingerale and Saltines should help.
