Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Sams! I love the witches brew comment! Royal jelly is bee pollen that only the queen bee gets. Hence it's name. It's supposed to really improve egg quality. I know that ginkgo biloba is a supplement for improving brain function, have not heard of its use in fertility treatments. I'm sure your acupuncturist knows what he is going!

AFM.. it's not that difficult to stick a patch on! :haha: The constant headaches and the emotions are getting to me! I think I cried 3-4 times at the TV tonight! :saywhat: Insane! I just want to get a great lining and do the biopsies!

OK, Zach is sitting beside me making pitiful whining noises, you'd think he didn't get any attention tonight.. Silly boy! More like spoiled boy! Better take him out and get them to bed. Night ladies!

Ali can I borrow one of your dogs? I just got back from the Dr and as I pulled in my neighbors dog was pressing his face up against the glass door wanting to come out. He's a beagle puppy and he always gets excited to see me bc I play with him on the lawn. I am laying on the couch and wishing I had a furry little cuddle buddy. I hear you on the crying, but for me it's not like normal crying its just tears and over the silliest little thing on TV.

When are your biopsies? I'm excited for your FET!!! Coy how ya doing lady? Get some sleep? Sams follow what the Chinese medicine dr says. I'm a total believer. I had acupuncture yesterday and I swear it helps. My follies went from 15.5 to 18, 15 to 17 and 13 to 14.5. Dr is 99% sure I will trigger tonight and IUI will be Sunday. He will know for sure when he sees my bw.

Ali if I do the IUI on Sunday is Mon too late for acupuncture? I'm going to continue to go 2x a week but curious about the timing post IUI. Do you think the trigger might help the 14.5 follie to reach maturity by Sun?

BabyW! YAY for follicle growth! I'm not sure I would trigger tonight. They usually don't trigger until the lead follicle is above 19. If they give you another day you could get more mature follicles. You can have both of them right now! Someone got up in the middle of the night and peed. :growlmad: I have quite the migraine right now  and they both won't stop barking :nope: I'm positive it's the extra estrogen patch
I have to keep doing 4 patches until I see them Monday. This is not going to be a fun weekend.

If you want more of those follicles to mature, use a heating pad or hot water bottle! It will move them along! Don't forget your FS may not want to see more than 3 follicles mature! Too much risk of multiples.

Enjoy your day off! I'm working til 9 tonight and then I'm on call

Yes Ali Vladimir sounds like a cool nickname! I love it
No fun that those patches are making your skin all blotchy :nope: Hope you enjoyed your sleep in this morning! :hugs:

Shady Grove is the team that is affiliated with UMMS. Dh worked for them for 7 years so both my ivf's were inexpensive. I am going to stay with them as the Donor egg is a totally different FS. From sperm analysis the first RE did see that dh had poor sperm morphology but like he said ICSI fixes that since they are able to choose the best ones. However when we had poor embryos with 2 ivf cycles he then said there was also an issue with my eggs. After the spontaneous pregnancy I had to wonder how did the embryo get past blastocyst and to 5 weeks 5 days? Still there could be chromosomal issues. Not genetic issues, since i had the genetic testing done and I tested negative for everything.

How are you all today?

Hello ladies :hi:

Ali you always make me laugh :haha: That was pretty funny and you only said V and not his whole name so it could be any V right? lol I tried watching a comedy but it didn't make me laugh but came on here and you succeeded! Gettign excited for you FET!:hugs:

Angel That is such great news that you heard the baby's heartbeat! :yipee: You must be so relieved. Shame your scan was short but you heard a heartbeat that is the most important thing! :happydance: how did your dh react? You were probably feeling sick before because you were worried. Now you can breathe... :hugs:

Babywhisperer Why are you nervous and stalling?

Coy how is your throat? Any better since you stopped taking the meds with yogurt? I hope you are taking the time to eat!! What cycle day are you on?

afm- I have to keep taking the 800 mg ibuprofen. Still get cramps if I go longer than 6 hours without taking it. Coy you said you thought it was the medicine that made me vomit but no. I vomitted like that for several hours when I miscarried naturally. Just how my body reacts to pain.

Glad I was able to make you laugh! It was actually Coy that had me  last night when she got confused, thinking I was talking about V playing with his junk during our lunch date. :haha: No! I figured I could at least disguise his name, maybe we should give him some exotic name like Vladimir? :haha:

Sorry you are still having the after effects, hopefully things will return to normal soon! Have you made your appointment to see the FS about DE yet? Are you going to go back to your original FS? Or try a different one? I think you should try someone else, I got bad vibes from your last one the one that wasn't sure what the issue was and said it was your DH then you etc. :nope: I think i saw something about an IVF team affiliated with the univ of Maryland? Maybe try them? Or at least go in for a consult before you choose a FS.

Babywhisperer so exciting that you are having your trigger! Fingers crossed for you! Will Ferrell is dh's favorite comedian! He doesn't make me laugh though. I cringe as dh cracks up at the anchorman :nope: I much prefer Steve Carell.

Did they analyze the tissue after your D&C? Between that and your clotting and immune tests, they should have some answers for you.

I understand wanting to find an inexpensive DE program, but sometimes it's best to spend a little more to get something done right. If you feel they are competent and can get you pregnant then go for it, but if you have any concerns, I'd look elsewhere! Especially after they refused to help during your spontaneous pregnancy. That would have pissed me off, and made me want to seek other options. AHH.. yes, Johns Hopkins, what about them? I just googled them and they have a Fertility center! Just a thought. Wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion! Oh and I was reading how they are using PGD with women like us during IVF to select the chromosomally complete embryos and having great success, so you might find that to be a better option? It's something that is proving to give women in their late 30s and early 40s the same chances of a woman in their early 30s!

They sample all the embryos at day 3 then put only the good ones back. By doing the testing they know which ones are OK and they only need to put 1 back and voila! Baby!

Check out the research, check out the other clinics! :flower:

Angel what a lovely scan pic. Please stop worrying about the radiologist not spending much time. With me they spent ALOT of time and it was cause to worry because they couldn't find the fetal pole or heartbeat. The very first scan were I was 5 weeks 2 days they said there's a yolk sac good sign and it was short and sweet. Stay positive.

Hi ladies, thanks for the wishes. Me being me, I have analysed the scan and I'm convinced they measured it wrong. The scan pic below is crap but if you follow the top dark round shadow to where I have put the arrow ths shadow as far as I can tell is the edge of the sac, not to where he has pointed in my opinion. I know he isnt worried but when you have been through 6 losses, which are always triggered by showing I'm behind at scans you worry!:growlmad: Even if it is only a couple of days which is a very common human error, you hear about it all the time throughout pergnancies. My SIL dates shifted by 3 weeks at one stage:dohh:. But if this helps settle my mind for the next fortnight who cares. I'm not sure if anybody can follow my rambling about the pic?

It is not an inexpensive DE program! It costs 30 k (shared risk) and not covered by insurance! We did some research and found that we can claim on our taxes though. I did check out some other clinics but Shady Grove had the best success rates. I think the PGD will only confirm that our embryos have chromosome issues and it is very expensive (thousands and not covered by insurance). I am scared to make embryos with my own eggs now.

Ali I will send you a private message regarding the tissue analysis since this is a ttc board I really don't want to upset anyone here. Bottom line is they didn't do it and I was angry because it was the whole reason for having a d & c. :growlmad: I go to the OB Monday for clotting and immune tests results. Get this, she phoned me a few days after I had them done to ask if I ever went cuz she couldn't find my bloodwork in the computer system. I told her I had them done the same day.

Sam I am surprised that your Chinese doctor gave you herbs that you have to boil in a pot. Dh's friend who is chinese told me how awful they taste! His parents boiled them when he was a child. My acupuncturist also practices traditional chinese medicine and he prescribed herbs that are tiny little pills and tasteless. They are called Ba Zhen Wan (women's treasure) Herbal times was the brand I used which he recommended as they were stronger than the other brands I used before. I can't wait to be done my antibiotics so I can start taking them again.

Hi Guys!!!!!:flasher:

Missed you!:flower:

I haven't gotten a chance to read all your posts!!!!!:cry::cry::cry::cry:

Coy - How are you doing!!!!!!!!! Sometime during the night.. I'll catch up on your posts! Eat!!!!! and yes sleep! Hope you are sleeping well

Alicatt- I don't know how you do it with the patches and continual poking and prodding. So I guess the lining is good?!

AFM- My Chinese Dr. gave me royal jelly, bikogoloba something and tea. I have to brew the tea. I feel like a witch with her big pot boiling it. Its gross:nope:

I'll report back when I'm finished with this long process. What have I become!

Who exhausted? ME too! lol. Off I go to eat and sleep---I hope ;)

I think he might trigger me tonight bc I grew from 15.5 to 18 in 1 day on the lead follicle and the second was 15 and is now 17. The trigger shot will also make them grow a little and I think from trigger to ovu can give them more time to grow. He also said it depends on what the blood results look like. They look for 100-200 E2 per follicle to see if they are mature. I guess I will wait and see. I hope it's not too early, but I already have fertile cm starting yesterday.

Uh oh doggie accident. I guess I'm going to have to settle for seeing my brothers dog on Easter. Greta is a German short haired pointer. I love her!

Chantal would you consider coming up to NY? North Shore participates with Attain which makes IVF and DE more affordable. My friend just had twins from their DE program and it was her first try with DE.

Good morning ladies! :flower:
Sams-- lol @ Witches brew! :haha: Bet it does look gross. Do you have a thingy-ma-bob, you know--it looks like a little metal egg that pops apart and has holes in it. You put your herbs in there and close it then boil that.........That way you don't have floaters :laugh2: Sounds like all good stuff though, I am glad you are taking it

Babywhisperer- I agree with Ali, nothing more disastrous than a premature trigger! Might mean a Monday iui tho....

Twiggers- glad you are relaxed, that helps immensely on all levels......work is good too but don't overdo yourself! :hugs:

Ali- hm, somebody got up in the middle of the night and peed? It wasn't you, I'm pretty sure. I'm gonna use my doggy sleuthing I have acquired over years and years...K. It could be Zoe's response to going to the vet. Sometimes they have a bit of drama packed away about it all. BUT my biggest guess is Zach. I bet he's p'd about all the attention Zoe is getting, plus he whining at you last night, I think he's being a normal emotional puppy-- maybe give him special cuddles or something? Know what I would do? I would take him over to the spot where the pee was at. If he ducks his head you'll know it was him. Then make him sit there in doggy shame for a few minutes. Aaargh, right? lol

AFM- sitting here :coffee: waiting for Aeryn to wake up and her bright little eyes just popped open! :cloud9: Talk atcha all soon!

Chantal - You have to do what you feel is right for you, I'm just giving you my opinion, and to quote Angel your treatment thus far has been PANTS! But seriously, just because their numbers are higher doesn't mean they are better. Some clinics are selective in the patients they take, like yours, they say, well your eggs are too poor and you need DE, that then stops them from having to include your 2-3 more failures in their stats. Not that DE is a bad idea. I just think that finding a Dr that is willing to think outside the box and treat you personally with your specific needs is more important than stats. You are right PGD is expensive, but not as expensive as DE! This is why I think you need to go and talk to a few more Dr's and find out what their recommendation is. You have plenty in the area to choose from, its just a matter of calling and setting up appointments. It is like interviewing a candidate for a position. Don't you want to speak to 3-4 before you make a decision? Especially if you are looking at 25-35K! I want to make sure I have the right FS, one that gets me and my quirks, my incessant questions, and is willing to take the time to answer my questions. For you, I think you need someone that is aware of your health issues, and is willing to work with your Acupuncturist and together they can treat you. That would be optimal for you IMO. That FS is out there! You just have to make those calls. Be empowered to find the right Dr to give you that miracle baby! You can do it

BabyW yes you are right, they will mature between trigger and IUI. Thing is that even with trigger anything under 16mm is not likely to make it to maturity. So you really only have 2 that would be mature by ovulation. Which is why I suggested you wait another day. I had IUIs with follicles in the 20-24 range, and a few in the 16-18 range. So unless your E2 is 600 or above, or your LH is over 10 or your P4 is over 1 I would ask if it made more sense to wait until tomorrow to trigger. I had a great Dr in Canada when I did the 2 IUIs up there, she explained how they decide, and what makes for a good trigger point. So that is how I know all of this stuff! So that would be my suggestion, but your FS is right.. wait for the blood results before making the decision. As your follicles stand right now, I think they need 1 more day, however if any of your bloods show above the thresholds:

E2 > 600
P4 > 1
LH > 10

I would wait!

I think they call it a tea cage? Or something strange like that, to put your herbs in to steep.

As for my pee issues, I think its more that I was here all last week and this week I've been gone a lot, and so they are rebelling. Zoe has always done that, and I retaliated by shutting them out of the second floor (where the carpet is) while I'm not here. That has reduced the accidents quite a bit. However in the last 24 hours they've had 2 accidents. One was Zach, and the other was Zoe. I can tell who is who by the pattern. Boys lift their leg so the pee is more like a line, and girls squat so its more of a puddle. So last night's was Zoe and the one from yesterday was Zach   I guess I have to put the gate back up  I was hoping I wouldn't have to. Good news is that I'm going to be replacing the darn carpet in another month or 2, so soon there won't be any left to pee on! Strangely enough they don't like peeing on the area rugs  So I think that will be my long term solution.

AFM - migraine is finally kicked.. but not before taking enough migraine meds to put a horse to sleep (well not fully to sleep, just a nap). I am 100% convinced my body DOES NOT LIKE THE ESTROGEN PATCH. Even as I type it is getting worse again. :growlmad:

Not fully asleep, just a nap? A horse? :haha: That must have been some migraine! Glad you got it kicked! Yes, one thing I cannot stand is piddling pups, especially when they know better :growlmad: They can just go rebel OUTside, lol!

May the spirit of hope
That Easter brings
Help you find
Contentment in little things
And restore your faith
In the Lord above
Who gave His life
For the ones He loves

I know.. I think it is also a function of them marking their territory. I keep cleaning up the messes and using that stuff to get rid of the smell and the enzymes that dogs can smell, so that could be it too.

All I can say is that I want to get this carpet up and outta my house! Only issue is that I don't know when I should plan to have it done. They'll have to get the product ordered so that takes a week to 10 days I'm sure. Then I'll be doing my FET so maybe I should wait until after the transfer? I just want to make sure it works with my FET cycle and my job! Last thing I want is to have them moving my furniture around when I'm supposed to be on bed rest! Oh and I have decided to take off extra time this time around. With both of my IVF cycles I've had really stressful 7-8 DPO's which is prime implantation time. Additionally I read that if you are stressed your body releases adrenaline and that can activate NK cells to attack! So I think I will lie low from 5-8 DPO (that is day of transfer + 3) and just be on the safe side.

Oh, I've decided how to deal with my paint issue!!! :happydance: I'm going with the creamy color, its called champagne tickle! :haha: My mom said, my lord how do they come up with these names? I said they put a bunch of women in a room with paint samples and several gallons of good wine  So it will be champagne tickle in the entryway, living room, dining room, and hallway on the first floor. Then the arch into the family room/kitchen will be the spring cactus, along with the attaching wall that also goes up the stairs and into the upstairs hallway. This will give the stairs a bit of a feature wall type look, and a pop of color. I decided that I wanted a more neutral color in the living room/dining room so that I can let the floor and the bright colors of my furniture POP! :wohoo: A decision made! My painter is happy and thinks it is a grand idea (although I wonder if he is just saying that to shut me up ) :haha:

Glad the migraine is kicked. They are awful!!

Well it's confirmed I am triggering tonight. Blood came back and he doesn't want me to stim another night. He said he likes the follies to be 18 or thereabouts but seeing that I grew 2-2.5 per follie in 1 day he feels confident tonight is the night.

I have been using a hot water bottle as I am cramping today a lot more than I have been. I had a very deep treatment at acupuncture yesterday and anytime I have done the treatment I cramp the next day and follies go thru a growth spurt. I think that's what is causing the cramping and fatigue. I'm afraid of the trigger shot!! Is it bigger than the Gonal F needle? I also looked at where I am in my cycle I was set to possibly ovu on Sunday so I'm glad we bd last night!

:growlmad:

The trigger is easy peasy. It goes into the abdomen so the needle isn't any bigger or scarier! The trigger makes you ovulate at about 29-40 hours after trigger. You'll feel it and know it is happening!! So when is IUI? Sunday morning? Did he say anything about BD tonight? I think I would, then let them recoup for Sunday. We want lots of swimmers up there to meet those eggs!!

Champagne tickle? :haha: Ahhh I could use some :wine: about now lol

Ah, so I called round - no docs in today  so I hope I don't die over the weekend :growlmad: lol! JK- I am tougher than that. Thinking of taking colloidal silver, maybe that will work? Kicked a tooth infection I had a few years ago, and I think I was nursing Kat at the time...I'll check it out.
