Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

K ladies, I skimmed through the posts as I caught wind of a :bfp: so was scanning for it! :laugh2: I saw something about wine slushies, Ali finally getting a silent "don't mess with me" alarm  and hating humid weather.

I am in agreement with all of it! :haha:

AFM- Started getting EWCM yesterday so guess I will probably start testing opk today. Still oficially NTNP but at this point- Fx'd :)

YES!!! I think we are on a roll on this thread.. much more positive news than a few short weeks ago. :happydance:

I'm looking forward to my :wine: slushies!!! At this point I think I need a :wine: IV!!!

You have no idea how happy I am to hear that Angel is at 9+ weeks and BabyWhisperer got her BFP on her first IUI!!!! :wohoo: I understand you being worried but don't worry too much, we don't want that little bean getting wind of that worry. Just think happy thoughts and hope for the best :thumbup:

I hope I'm next.. 5 weeks to wait :coffee:

Congrats on all the wonderful news. This is great to hear and always gives me hope.

I'm with Ali, I'm drinking tonight (and probably tomorrow, too) Cheers! :wine:

Ali- you are next girl! Get ready  :dust:

My mother has always said be careful what you wish for!!! I used to be so sad :sadangel: I was one of the last to develop BBs and I used to get teased and oh it was horrible. She would say be patient your time will come, and try to make me feel better, I would  and  well now I'm blessed with GIANT ones. I mean not Dolly Parton ones by any means, but definitely more than I need. :haha: So if this baby thing goes anything like that.. I'll probably have quadruplets! Please just kill me now!!! :haha:

I know, we are doing everything right.. I'm just impatient. I want it NOOOOOOWWWWWW. You know?

Sending you loads of :dust::dust::dust::dust::dust:

I find spending time on here and books the best distraction. The tiredness will kick in around 6-7 weeks so all you will want to do then is sleep!

Is anyone else finding that the minutes feel like hours this afternoon?
Oh and there is a monster thunder cloud making all sorts of noise as it moves closer. My luck it is going to hit at 5PM and then my commute home will be a terror. :dohh: If it is I'll stop at whole foods on my way home, I can easily kill some time there with all their YUMMY FOODS!!!

Babywhisperer- Yay! :happydance: :headspin: OMG, this is awesome! I don't think you have anything to worry about with the trigger at this point--I thought about that too, but they wouldn't schedule you for BETA for Monday if your trigger was still there on Friday  I am so excited! And those aren't like super faint lines either girl--those are strong lines! Yay! Congrats hon, I am so happy for you! :hugs:

Now- you are going to be hit with myriad of emotions (ahem)

1) shock
2) worry
3) disbelief
4) OMG AM I READY FOR A BABY??!!

LOL! We all go through it. You try and try then when it happens you're like "how in hell did this happen?!" lol. My dh always looks stunned for a second then like "Whaa....??" lol

I know you will stress about losing it, just relax- no reason for you to worry about that. Congrats and looking forward to that beta! :hugs:

Quick---send some of your super sticky :dust: :dust: out here!!

You hit the nail on the head. I'm feeling all of the above. Still in shock. Not much of an appetite today, probably from nerves. Sending sticky vibes your way.

Now how do I pass the time without going crazy?

you can't do it without being a little crazy! I kept POAS 2-3 times a day for the first couple of months- until I heard the baby's heartbeat at 9 weeks.... then I just POAS a couple of times per week!

I was crazy all the way through! we bought a fetal doppler so I could keep hearing the heartbeat and I was checking for it ALL the time!!

So excited for you! miracles can happen! Yay for yours!!!

Thank you. I had to laugh bc I am not going to believe this until its screaming in my lap. Neurotic much, yes I am.

Babywhisperer- Re: passing time w/o going crazy. K, you are going to go a little bit crazy- just roll with it :haha: On passing time- go browsing baby clothes- dreaming of the future can be soOoo much fun and that is a very positive and relaxing and joyful pasttime  Maybe think baby names? Think positive

Be careful what you eat- no fish, sushi, etc, no alcohol or heavy caffeine....

No recreational drugs :haha: LOL! Doc always asks me that and I'm like :saywhat: As if I would!

I would love to get swept away in what comes next, planning, clothes, names but I want to make sure this is real. Too much heartache on these forums to not take a little pause. I'm even thinking of not telling my Mom until the beta shows good results.

I hear you, it is a scary time the first few weeks. For some reason there is a higher risk of MC in ART or as we age  I know you know this, which is why you are being cautious. Thing is that you beat the odds, getting pregnant on your first IUI!!! So that is great! So just keep thinking positive, and keep busy, and you'll be OK!!!!

Ali- why can't you drive in a thunderstorm?

Babywhisperer- understood! Be cautious (but be happy too! :shhh: ) Yes, dh and I waited to tell anyone until it was, well, obvious!:haha:

Angel- yay for getting the job! Send me some luck-- I am taking an assessment exam for a government job today...8-[ Fx'd!

Good luck, you'll ace it!!

I can drive in rain or snow or sleet.. it just makes traffic gnarly! My commute goes from 25-50 minutes :(

JandK- looking at your chart you are probably expecting to ov in about a week or so, right?
I havent been charting on there. I am temping and doing OPK. Expecting to inseminate this weekend

Well I ordered 2 vials of sperm today. There was a sale of sorts at the sperm bank. 25% off total price. Just thinking of a sperm sale would make me giggle if i was in the mood for laughter. My best friend of 30 years called last night and said she was pregnant after trying since her wedding in November. Needless to say last night included tons of crying and 2 desserts from Dairy Queen. Why do some people get to ride on the float while others drag along behind? Ugh..2 chances this month. Heres to hoping...

Sale?!?! Which sperm bank did you use? Seriously, I'm considering this as my ol' man's count just aint' cutting it. Perhaps I should load up while there's a sale. :happydance:
Midwest sperm bank. 2 vials for 600 in april for select donors

Hi All! I am new here! Will be 35 in a few weeks and TTC...just heard someone say today how women should have kids in their 20's and not wait. Does anyone else want to punch someone when they say this?? :) Seriously, like I had a choice...if I had a baby with THAT guy...UGH! It's just tough to hear. It's like I'm doomed because I chose to wait for the right man and that my future kid is going to have major problems because of MY choices. I am already an anxious person so this doesn't help...just joined for support. I test on 4/20. Fingers crossed!

Welcome!
I am just new here too, but the ladies here are so nice and supportive:happydance:

Speaking from my own experience, I had my first when I was 23 and I honestly think I was too young. He started having seizures when he was 6 months old and is considered to be severely mentally handicapped. Of course at the time we just dealt with it (thats all you can do), but looking back, I really think I could have coped better had I been in my 30's. We figured we would have our kids young, have them away from home when we were still young and enjoy our 40's as empty nesters:haha: The jokes on us!

I am a much better mum now that I am 35. Im calmer, more settled. I am so excited about expanding our family and think that I will cope significantly better because I am older now. I get the reasoning for having kids in your 20's, but sometimes life throws you a curve ball. And sometimes people just aren't ready that young or circumstances aren't quite right. Its quite frankly no-one else's business when or why people decide to start a family. As I said in another post, 35 is the new 25! Good luck with your testing! :flower:

Hey Mapleroo,
Really good post , have been having a lot of feelings of regret that I didn't try earlier and looking at stats etc is kind of even more scary. Still I am sure that this is still possible.

I am in the 2ww limbo and probably will be sympton watching for the next 8 days!

Good luck in your 2ww Fbs! I'm not there yet, this is our ahem.. 'busy' week so I will definately join you in your symptom spotting for your final week :)
I think it is absolutely still possible! Keep us updated!
