Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

snooklepoodle, I bled like a light period afterwards as well so take a pad, as the pad they gave me was like a carpet pmsl, I only had light period pains that lasted a couple of hours when I had it done but my tubes were clear.

Suzi course you can join more the merrier lol

Hi Ladies!
Can I join you guys on here? I never realized how hard ttc was going to be at this age! Had I known all this I def would have started earlier. After 2 losses in 5 months I am convinced I just have "old eggs" Another girl suggested I get tested for MTHFR. I am going to call my Dr. today about that. But, I really do think it's my eggs. I've done a lot of research about coq10 and PQQ for egg quality, as well as wheatgrass and I just started taking all of these about 3 days ago. I guess it takes about 3 months to go in affect so I am remaining hopeful that we can still do this naturally since we really don't have the money for IVF. I would love to hear from anyone else who is trying the COQ10. I also would like to try Femara but I don't think it would even be worth it to do until the 3 months has passed. My Dr. wanted me to do Clomid but I heard Femara is much better esp. for us older girls lol. I guess there's less side effects, doesn't affect lining or CM which is good. Hope to hear from some of you as it would be nice to talk to someone who is going through the same thing I am. It's hard to talk to your friends esp since most of them already have their kids and just don't get it. Here's to hoping for some BFPs that stick!!! :)

Welcome to the board!

I would suggest ubiquinol form of CoQ10; it's the natural form and highly recommended for fertility. It's not cheap, but hopefully worth it! I've been taking it for quite awhile, prior to TTC. I haven't been told that I have poor quality eggs and my tests have come back normal. I also take Maca root, l-Arginine (Suppose to help with quality as well), Royal Jelly, Omega with DHA, Primose Oil, Vitex, and a fertility blend. Hope that helps! All these ladies have great suggestions on this board.

Sounds like you are in the know about the tests and treatments to help you. RPL (repeat pregnancy loss) can have several different causes:
* chromosomal issues (you can test the fetus if you save it)
* clotting factors (like MTHFR, but there are others)
* auto immune issues like NK cells (which I have)
* LPD (luteal phase defect) or low progesterone

Some of these issues are easier to solve than others:
I would get your Dr to prescribe progesterone that you start taking after ovulation. I would also start taking a low dose aspirin (this will help any clotting factors), and also improve blood flow to your ovaries and uterus. These things on their own (and with the addition of the vitamins and supplements below) might be all you need.

To improve your eggs, you can definitely use CoQ10, Royal Jelly, Maca Root, Tapioca, and get on a good prenatal.

Yes, I am taking the Ubiquinol and you're right about it being expensive but I'm sure will be worth it. I am going to have my levels checked too. (FSH and AMH). Now, can your regular OBGYN do those test or does that have to be done by a fertility specialist?

allicat: yes, I have been doing tons of research lol. And I have the progesterone in my nightstand all ready to go! The DR. did say about the aspirin but I also heard it might conteract with the COQ10 so I decided to stop it until a BFP????? Do you happen to know anything about that?

Hello Suziq :)

Thank-you for your info about the aspirin! I was on aspirin last pregnancy and I had been taking COQ10. I had crawling feeling (restless leg) in one foot that kept me up at night. This time I took aspirin till I got bfp. Then stopped both aspirin and COQ10 since the Ob did tests and assured me I didnt have any clotting issues. I had noticed the restless leg in my right foot a week before my :bfp: As soon as I stopped the aspirin the crawling feeling in my foot stopped too.

Hi never give up! hmm that's weird about that feeling in your legs and feet. See I know I have poor circulation but not too sure about taking the aspirin right now. I'm just not sure about it affecting the COQ10. I am going to try to get tested for any clotting issues ASAP so that I can figure out what I really need to be doing as far as that goes. I see a few of you guys are already pregnant! Congrats on that! I hope to be joining you verrrry soon! :)

never give up: I noticed you are pregnant and you had 2 failed IVF cycles. Was this pregnancy natural?

Chantal ok Wow see that is sooo inspiring!!!!! Love it!!

coy not got frer as yet but my spotting has stopped was just a little bit when I wiped last night about 10pm,pinky/orange tinge and this morning nothing, but cheapie still negative

My husband and I are both 35, and we didn't feel 'old' in any way until we started TTC. in between my doc telling me to come back if nothing happened in six months so we could 'get a little more aggressive", to DH not feeling "in the mood" unless it was totally the wrong time of the month, to MY lowered drive...I swear my periods were like clockwork before we started trying, and now the anxiety has my damn numbers all over the place. Late, early, weird ovulation day, etc... And my friends that are a bit younger than us are getting their families started left and right. I'm still really optimistic! Just needed to vent.

Hugs and BFP dust to all who need it!

I haven't heard about the contraindications of CoQ10 and aspirin. My FS said to take both until I ovulated and then just take the aspirin. I'm almost 6 weeks and still taking the aspirin. They will re-evaluate it after my U/S next week. I don't have any clotting issues at all. My FS puts all women on it to improve blood flow, and circulation. If you are concerned then just take the CoQ10 from AF to ovulation and take the aspirin from ovulation to BFP!

Get a FRER! My cheapies were BFN for days after the FRER was positive! :dust:

Yes Suziq! It is a spontaneous pregnancy and I am going to be 42 next month! Actually all 3 of my pregnancies were spontaneous. The fertility specialist said the first time had been a fluke and it was impossible for it to happen again!

Hello Isobel :dust:

Ali I was taking coq10 all month long! I didnt know I wasn't supposed to take coq10 after ovulation and I did. so maybe that is why I had a reaction taking them as the same time? I am so happy not to have that crawling feeling in my foot anymore. I knew about taking Primrose oil only before ovulation.

Hi Isobel. I am fairly new to all this too. I too never felt old until all of this! it gets frustrating sometimes but I'm tryin not to let that get me down. A lot of us are doing natural things to help with our fertility and it is def working for a lot of women who felt just like you do I'm sure.

Ali: yea I did some more research today and found that it should be ok to take the aspirin, I am going to add that back. I also decided to add Royal Jelly.

never give up: That is so exciting!!!! Gives me so much hope! Can I ask how long did you do all the supps and were you on them prior to your failed IVFs?

spotting again tonight grr

Sorry hun but maybe you're not out just yet!

Hi Susiq, Isobel, welcome. You are in the right place for advice and support.

Sorry for the fast note but I have a splitting headache and phone is dying.
My NT scan and blood tests are Monday. No nausea yesterday or today! I hope all is normal!!!

Miss you ladies. Chat more soon. Xo

Mental hugs to you all! I take Vit D3, prenatals, folic acid, magnesium, and now inositol (for anxiety). May we all have a healthy 2013 :)
