Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Hi, I am new to this posting on boards but I have been stressed and I do not know how to handle it. Since reading of the posts I figured why not get some support. I am 36 yrs old and I have been trying to get pregnant for the past 6 months. 3 months ago we visited a fertility specialist and she suggested we use ovulation kits for 3 months and if no success then come back to start the clomid treatment. Well this is month 3 snd no luck. We were intimate on 8/31, 9/1 and 9/4. Had a + ovulation test on 9/3 in the evening. So just waiting now. I hope by using this board and reading others posts it will help with the stress. Thanks.

Hello! This is a good place to be. All the ladies are helpful and willing to share their most personal experiences.

I'm 40 and trying for the 4th cycle. Haven't talked to any RE at this point but considering it if I do not conceive this round.

Your dr may be looking for some baseline information...by asking you to do OPKs for several months. I've read that many cases of perceived infertility actually result from us not knowing what is happening when within our bodies.

Use an app like FertilityFriend to manage and track all you experience during your cycles. Having data will take you a long way! Once you getting through maybe 3 months of good data gathering (shortening this based on your age and your total TTC time so far) take that back to the specialist for the next move.

Come on in, we are all in the same boat. I conceived #1 on my 1st round of IUI so it can happen, and on another thread a woman who is 39 just had the same thing happen. I am trying for #2 and have had 2 failed cycles of IUI. I am about to start on my 3rd and going in for cd3 u/s and b/w tomorrow. I didn't respond to the same dose of meds for my 1st cycle this g around so they increased it. I responded great but for some reason I didn't get prego. I will update after I have a conversation with the Dr tomorrow. So much for #2 being easier to conceive.

Hi Kwanna,
I'm also a stressed 36 year old seeking support! I'm on my fourth cycle of Clomid and I can't stop worrying day in, day out! Just wish I could see into the future and know what's in store for me!

Anyone in 2ww?

I am. Had positive OPK on Friday, 9/5/14, and again on Saturday, 9/6/14. DTD Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Fingers are crossed for you! Hopefully all of us who are in the TWW will get a BFP this month!

***Baby Dust*** to you all!

HI, Im new, just joined. Im 36 and trying for a baby with my new partner. I have 4 children aged 16 - 8. My youngest has a genetic syndrome and needs full time care which sadly led to my marriage break down and we decided my 3 eldest children were best living with their Dad so I could give all of myself to my youngest son. This was extremely painful and I was alone with him for a few years before meeting my current partner. I feel horribly guilty about trying for another child when my 3 eldest dont live with me. I never thought I'd be doing this again but my new partner has no children. We are very happy and he's not pressuring me but with his full support I think I could cope with a baby and my youngest son's needs.
Anyway, thats my quick background.
Im currently 5/6 days po. If im in the wrong group here please let me know. I dont want to upset anyone who sees me as having more than my share iykwim? My new partner is 45 and has never got anyone pregnant before so Im a bit wary as to whether his fertility is ok. I used opks with my last baby and they worked very fast for me. Im 8 years older though so fingers crossed!
Good luck everyone. Ive read back through a few pages of introductions. I hope to get to know some of you better <3

I am currently in 2ww. 7dpo. I'm 36 and ttc again after my last mc. Good luck ladies, and keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!

I'm currently in 2ww. 7dpo.

Good luck to you!

I just got a call from my Dr that my blood work and u/s monitoring will not be covered and neither will iui. I have to give them $3500m on Monday. This might change how we proceed if this cycle doesn't work. Ugh.

Babywhisperer, I'm truly sorry. I hope and pray things work out for you!

It's hard enough going through this and these dang insurance companies make it harder!! xo good luck in whatever decide!

My boobs are getting more sore everyday but I'm trying not to assess every symptom b/c my body loves to play tricks! I've decided to hold out on testing until one day after AF is due! She's due around 20th-22nd. I hope and pray this is it for us all!! It's not over til AF arrives.

I hope so too!!! Good luck!

Pretty sure I am here now in the tww; but I am wondering if I might have received a false positive on the OPK because of clomid. sigh. Temp went up this morning, hopefully it stays up, and the one night of BD worked. ;)

Just took another OPK negative again hopefully BD once was enough. oops, however my right ovary feels like its on fire.

Very excited and a little nervous to be joining this forum after 19 years of preventing pregnancy!! I'm 37 and DH is 31. I'm hoping my "old" eggs will be balanced out by his "younger" healthier swimmers. :muaha:
DH and i have been married for 2 months and started actively trying this week when I got my smiley face on my Clearblue digital ovulation kit. I've used the period tracker on my iphone for a few years now and my cycles are regular and for the most part, predictable. I laughed when I read all the ways we're trying to get our sig others to BD. I thought it would be much easier but with full time jobs and busy schedules it can be exhausting to fit it in during the work week. So far we've tried different rooms in the house, lingerie, and a candlelit soak in the tub!!!! We're in the 2ww now so we'll see what happens. Not trying to put too much pressure on myself since it's only our first month trying, but my sister got pregnant second month at age 35 so I'm hoping I'll be ok too.

Hi jessiecat,

Welcome and congrats on getting married! Wishing u lots of luck!

This thread has been pretty quiet but wanted to respond:hugs:

BD more ! :)

It was brutal on him, after 17 years getting a VR. He was allergic to the antibiotic and started throwing up after we left the Dr's office. We had no idea for the first 24 hours what was wrong until we went in for the check up the next day and told him what was happening. My poor baby. We have been trying for almost 17 months since then. I changed my diet, started exercising more. We also use Preseed, it's supposed to be almost magic, but we will see. I'm in my 2 week wait and every month my rising progesterone levels give me false hope and different symptoms...so I'll just have to wait.
