Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Tiatammy-

Maybe you could start a FF chart and just type your temps in for the last few months--I wonder if they will let you do that? I don't see why not  then maybe we could get a look at your temps. But if your cycle has been 26-28 days forever then there's nothing "poopie" about that! Sounds like my cycle as a matter of fact. Did oyu ask him to explain his comment? Oh, another question--what info is included in the charts you email him? Like, basal body temps, AF days, cm charting, stuff like that? I'd love to take a look at them but if they aren't transferable then that's just poopie, lol! I wouldn't worry too much about his comment if your cycle is coming regularly. So, my list of questions:

1) Do you chart your temps?
2) Do you monitor cm?
3) Do you use OPK's (and temping) to verify that you are Ovulating?

grey eyes I do chart my temps, I monitor cm which to me doesnt seem to be getting thin anough it always seems lotiony white and thick, have tried the robbiyussin and musinex and doesnt seem to work for me, I dont seem to get the egg white like I should. and do use OPKs, and normally get my smiley anywhere from cd 9 to cd 12, and this month I got none, the charting he u, ses is the temping everyday, plotting the day of your cycle how long you have it, if you spot during your cycle, and plotting your LH serge, he doesnt want his patienece checking cm, because of introducing infection, but I do anyway. FRIENDS

Ah, okay...so far it sounds to me like you knw what your doing! As far as your opk not showing a smiley this month...that could be a fluke as it is so easy to miss  BUT if you are not getting EWCM that could be an issue right there...it can be preventing the :spermy: from reaching your egg. If that is the case you may try something like, oh what do you call it...It's basically a cream that resembles sperm and it is sperm friendly. I just forget what the name is :dohh: Also- have you considered IUI to pass up the cm issue altogether?

well doc says may be IUI but need to have the tubal x-ray and then a repeated SA then on the first day of cycle for june to call office to scedule for the x-ray and the SA., He has really got me confused with the charting as him saying that I am not on cd 17 I should know, It makes me wonder if he was looking at someone elses chart I dont know. I have looked at my charts and looked and they still keep coming up with the same cd as today cd 17. FRIENDS

grey eyes I quess I will talk with you tomm. I am getting myself to frustrated with what this doc. said and I am getting tired sweeitie hope I can sleep. you have a good night. thanks for the listening ear it means alot my friend. HUGS HUGS FRIENDS

Tiatammy- yes, it sounds like CD17 to me also- no other way to view it! So he must have been confused somewhere--please don't get too frustrated, I know it is hard, especially when your doc isn't all that clear about things. Alicatt is going in for her x-ray tomorrow for pre-IUI. Sounds like routine from what I can tell as far as getting things set for IUI.

Sleep is just what you need! Sometimes it works wonders :hugs: Keep in touch, I look forward to your post tomorow  :friends:

greyeyes ~ are you talking about preceed oil to mimic eggwhite

He wasnt too bad to be honest, I kinda skimmed over it so didnt give him a chance lol. I was more thank feck I got him to do it and it was clear, I'm the one with the issues and made that point and we just had to tick the SA box to know for sure. He was a bit moody but it was all over within a fortnight and I made sure he was well pampered during the waiting process :winkwink:

JM - totally agree with what the others say! My DH had the same attitude so we bought a home testing kit for his SA and when it came up with a problem he realised he needed to get tested properly. Turns out he was fine, we probably just didnt use the kit properly or mis-read the results.

Could this be an option?

Oh man, was he totally irked with you after that ? :haha: Poor guy :nope: lol, all that stress! But hey- at least he got tested and everything was okay! That is the important part and why have the woman go through all of these intensive and often physically intrusive tests when it may be the man's issue? My dh was willing but we got pg so  got to skip that part thank goodness.

There's definitely 2 lines there ali. I'm not too clued up with all the possibilities using an OPK instead etc but know others who have had false positives if they have used them. If I'm reading right youre using an OPK to check atm?

Perhaps this may help - https://www.babymed.com/opk-as-hpt-test-pregnancy-test

Fingers crossed for you chick, get out and get a test! xo

Angel,

I had no idea that there were home testing kits for the men....I might have to look into that. Thanks for the info!! :)

Hi grey eyes hope all is well with you and you had a good night, as for me I qwas very restless finally got to sleep, but am still upset about the charting thing and this doc. telling that I couldnt be on cd 17, well I looked again this morning and it is still coming up the same. OOOH how I wish I could sent my chart, I dont know anything about fertility friend and how to chart it or even attach it to this to let you see, Is it a free sight or do you have to pay for it? All this computer stuff is new to me, so I just started getting the hang of getting on here to post and all that comes along with it. HUGS HUGS FRIENDS

Morning All,

So I went in for my test this morning. First off I had to wait almost 30 minutes, then I get in there and he can't insert the catheter, apparently my cervix is slammed shut! LOL! So he says, drink some water and we'll be back. Well drinking some water meant 40 oz! EEK! I felt like I was going to float away! Finally he came back and was able to insert the catheter and we could do the procedure. OMG was it uncomfortable! I would not like to do that again. Plus at the end he tried to force the dye into one of my tubes, and that REALLY hurt.
On top of all of that I got some not so great news :( My right ovary is still missing, and my right tube is blocked. At least the left tube and ovary are in working order! So now we have to hope that there are some follicles on the left ovary so we can proceed with the IUI next week. Now I have to wait until Monday before we can check my ovary to see if there are any follicles. UGH.

Ali! That is quite an ordeal! How do you handle it when you are going through a procedure that hurts really bad? I usually curl up my toes...it doesn't really help but it gives me something else to focus on. I have not done the check to see if my tubes are blocked. Doesn't sound like fun either. So, I wonder who came and snatched up your right ovary? Ever see the movie "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"? Might rename it to "Invasion of the Ovary Snatchers".

Just joking...just trying to make you smile. :hugs:

So, we need you to ovulate from the left side huh? Ok...at least I have something specific to pray for for you.

I am feeling better about not being PG this month. I still have not had my second interview for the new job I want. I am convinced that I will get it. And it really would not be good to start a new job and be on maternity leave 9 months later. So I am anticipating being a little more focused on getting PG when I have been there for 90 days. :)

But unitl then, I am still going to do as everyone suggested and monitor my cycle. I might even try doing the temp thing. And continue to leave it in God's hands...

AWW.. thanks! Yes I was thinking invasion of the ovary snatchers! It was there a month ago, my OBGYN saw it. So where did it go? I don't understand! I did have surgery on that ovary back in 2004 to remove a cyst, but it has been fine since then. Oh well, now we just need to focus on my left ovary being happy and healthy and full of EGGS!

Also, thanks for praying for me, that is very sweet and kind of you to do so. I'll need it that is for sure!!! :hugs:

I do hope you get the job, and yes it is a good idea to wait a few months before you get pregnant after starting a new job! I know with my job and their health insurance, I had to wait 6 months I think, before I was eligible. So make sure you read the fine print! :coffee:

I think perhaps waiting and temping and seeing if nature does its course is the best option at the moment, unless BF agrees to get his :spermy: tested.

The tube test probably wouldn't have been that bad if the right side wasn't blocked. It was when he tried to force it into that side that it really hurt. Maybe I'm just a cry baby!! I just held my breath and closed my eyes. It didn't take long, probably 1-2 mins at most. I am being positive, at least the left side is open and happy, and I did ovulate on that side last month so that is another positive!!

Fertility Friend www.fertilityfriend.com has a free membership for basic stuff. It gives you options- you enter the date, your temperature, then it will tell you after however many days if you are Ovulating, etc, you can also include cm and symptoms for it to measure for you. Sort of takes the guess work out  On the site itself it has a button you click to "share" and once you do that it gives you a link to post. Then you can add the link to your signature here on bnb. Phew! Longwinded :haha:

If you have gotten positives of lh on your opk's and temps that indicate Ov then I am pretty sure your left tube must be in proper working order! Try not to worry :hugs: Can't wait to see hoe everything goes with IUI...sorry the test was so uncomfortable. Knowing you (you are a woman and all women do this) you say uncomfortable but what you mean is hurt like a sonuv#@!%! Poor lady! :hugs: But it's over now and you are brave for having done it! And now you know what challenges there are to conquer! :friends:

Yep.. both months I have tested I have had positive OPKs, and the Dr did see the corpus luteum on my left ovary last month. So that is all good! I am a little confused about how/what happened to the right side though. I wonder if I shouldn't go get more testing?
Wait.. can't you still get a positive OPK on your right ovary even if it is blocked? I don't think that the blocked tube would stop the OPK from detecting the LH surge. It wouldn't do much good though, as the sperm will never find the egg on that side.
I am being positive, I have 1 open tube and one happy ovary :haha:

How are you feeling today? Everything going well?

Ali-

Yes, you can have lh surges even if the tube is blocked. BUT on a positive note the egg released during ovulation only comes from the one ovary--not eggs from both each month-- so you are in no way crippled here. So I am glad you are staying positive! You only need one ovary/open tube to ovulate and conceive

AFM- feeling good today! We have our gender/growth ultra sound tomorrow :happydance: So I will know if I should shop for baby boy or baby girl :)

I would love to have a boy this time around but it is all in God's hands. I will be overjoyed at either boy or girl! It is at 2 p.m. Idaho (MST) time tomorrow.

Does anybody know anything about eating spicy foods in pregnancy?? I have heard stories about it causing labor in late pregnancy but sort of feel that is an old wives tale... I have not done any major study but read that tobasco is safe,e tc...and lately I have been craving cayenne on everything...
