Me and OH are getting married in December but not honeymooning until april/may when the weather in Turkey hots up lol.

I was just wondering if anybody has any idea on the best contraception to use in the meantime? I don't get on well with the pill because of migraines and I want something that isn't going to affect my chances of *hopefully* conceiving baby number 2 very soon after we start trying

I love the diaphragm because it doesn't interfere with your hormones. You can use a spermicide (I used VCF which is a film so it doesn't ooze out the way creams and foams do).

Alternatively you could use FAM https://www.birth-control-comparison.info/fam.htm

Have you thought about the implant?
pretty painless procuduere hun it lasts for UP to three years but you can remove it any time :)

it also doesnt affect your fertitlity :)

Just popping in to suggest perhaps a completely non-hormonal bC, such as condoms?
Unless of course there is an allergy or something, but they shouldn't give you headaches as they are completely non-hormonal! :)
I know many couples who swear by them.

Hi, yeh were using them at the moment but worried about them splitting lol. Think we're just going to stick with them and look into the implant. Thanks everyone x

We've been using FAM and condoms successfully for about five years now, with no unexpected surprises in that time! We don't use condoms all month, only using them certain days of my cycle.

We have successfully been using condoms as the only form of BC for about 18 months now. I have to admit that I only stopped taking the pill once we felt that a little accident wouldn't be a problem, but we're certainly hoping that condoms will continue to do their job until we're ready to TTC.

Hi  Just a bit of a warning, I'm on the implant now and love it, once it is in you can just forget about it, and I was told that it doesn't affect your fertility, but only today I looked for when I should have it taken out (we are planning on TTC, June/July next year) and there are loads of women out there that have had the implant out for 6+ months and are still not getting a regular cycle. Just didn't want you to be miss informed. If you look on google for 'when should i have my implant removed before trying for a baby, loads of chat groups come up. Hope this helps, and good luck. :wohoo:

Would you midn using a thermometer and a pen and paper? , Charting can be used for contraception too, and the good thing is once you start ttcing you already now how your cycle ticks :). It is not hard and there is some good info about it in 'taking charge of your fertility' for example.

I just wanted to second this - my husband and I are using a combination of charting/NFP and condoms during my fertile time. And one benefit I've noticed is that I'm way more in tune with my body and what it's doing, which can be VERY helpful once you're ready to TTC! It's also worth considering in light of what else hormonal methods do to your body, not including migraines, such as increased risks for heart disease.

Whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck!

I know many who have had the implant with no problems at all and loved it. However, I had mine in for a year and then had it taken out 3 years ago as I was constantly spotting. The first year after having it out AF totally disappeared and now still I'm irregular :nope:

I'm really worried about this, hence why I was looking it up in the first place, I'm on my second implant and before that I was on the pill. I have been trying to stop having a baby for so long, I'm worried that now I want one it is going to be a nightmare.
