What do you put in Christmas Eve bags?

I only first heard about these the other day. Are they to keep the kids occupied on Xmas Eve? What goes in them? DVD's etc?

A game each
some reindeer food
a small 99p selection box
a tube of sweets
a dvd box set between them
some little santa chocolates
A hot chocolate snowman mug
