what if i fart during labor??

Myk's mummy :rofl::rofl:

Brings a whole new meaning to 'Gas and air' LOL

Just thinking of all those women who eat curries to bring on labour too - maybe I should pack a clothes peg in my hospital bag - the MAT unit must stink :haha:

hahah im going to bring in a gas mask and hand it to my doctor and tell him he will need it with me :nope:

Jesus when I was in labour with my son farting was the least of my problems, I was like something off the exorcist, I kept swearing at the midwife because I was convinced that she was hurting me (it was the contractions lol) and the gas and air kept making me sick so I was throwing up green bile!! I bet the midwives half expected my head to start spinning around, I was like the devil incarnate lol!!! xx

lol i dont think you'd care if you did, im more worried if i had a bowl movement, im sure they tell you to go b4 going to the hospital?.. but people ive spoken to say nothing mattes at the time of you giving birth

LOL You will.

That is exactly what I was thinking. You won't necessarily know/care, but you will likely be puking, pooping, farting..etc. Add to it the screaming and stuff.. These people deliver babies all day.. they have seen EVERYTHING.

"pushing" is going to be like having a poo anyhow. Actually, thats why you aren't allowed to go to the bathroom to go... you may push...

Try not to worry about it.. you have other things to focus on that day :)

haha iv just had visions of me doing that, saying the midwife was trying to kill me when it was just contractions made me giggle and i know il be sick :( any pain makes me sick im not bothered about pooping or pumping i can scream over pumps and poos will mix with other things... hopefully

Ahahahaha- this brings back memories!!!

I had a 2nd degree tear after the birth of my DD that required stitching. My OB came in to assess the damage and work his magic... I was chatting away on a hormone high and while my OB was putting my stitches in I let fly. Not once, but a few times! I'd had an epidural and I don't really know where all the wind was coming from! I giggled my head off nervously and apologised saying 'It wasn't me. I didn't mean that.' (WTF???). My OB actually leaned back on his stool until he was sure I'd stopped. My hubby laughed so hard he cried and I was mortified.

I can laugh about it now though :)

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I was actually crying with laughter reading this:rofl::rofl::rofl:

ditto, i hadnt thought about it but now im crying with laughter!

OH MY! im laughing so hard im starting to sound like a donkey!

lol this thread is funny! During my first birth I wasn't worried about poo as I was in labour for 36 hours and all I had to eat was one cracker. At that stage you're not even hungry so had nothing in my system.

Towards the end though, I had to have an emergency c-section so when they did the epidural I had no control or feeling of my lower body. At one point before they operated I heard a funny noise and asked what it was, the doc said it was me passing wind. I found that hilarious and not at all embarrassing. Couldn't care less at that stage. :)

At least I will my own personal jacuzzi that hubby won't want to go near :) :)

tbh you proberbly wont give a damn or notice wether you poop or parp in labour lmao i didnt ! xx

Trust me, you won't care! I was really worried about pooing/farting but when it came down to it I just wanted baby OUT! It didnt even cross my mind until afterwards :haha: x

with my son i had a bowel movement. didnt know it either, they wisk it away, like its nothing. really. but, frm the time my water broke till delivery was 1.5 hours...so 35 mins from when i got into the hospital...it was all so fast. usually during labor you have to poo....your body just does and you have time. but like in my case, my body didnt have time and it was all at once. i didnt have an epidural, but sitll didnt know

LOL I pooped in the midst of pushing out DD...and EVERYONE could smell it (thankfully the three nurses and doctor were WOMEN)! My doctor's face was non-too impressed and I said I was too scared/embaressed to keep pushing. The doctor assured me that it could happen to anybody, but I still felt awful.

update: at that point the contractions felt like I had to take a giant POO.

:huh: Pooping won't be so bad...I just hope it doesn't smell....oh dear...or isn't freakishly large...:wacko:

Fart, bowel movement, need to use a catheter etc ... believe me, by the pushing stage you really won't care!

lmao this thread cracked me up!! i doubt i'll give a crap once i'm in labor but at the moment i really don't wanna poop on the table. i could care less if i fart. my OH probably will anyways cause he's gross like that. :) but pooping won't be that bad. i'm sure those doctors have seen MUCH worse!! and at least they clean it up right away :)

Yeah...um...you really won't care, you will do anything to get that baby out, and trust me, you may actually rationalize in your state that farting will work! :rofl: Plus, don't think they haven't already seen it all as doctors/nurses/midwives that deliver babies. You can't be messing with all those systems down there without sometimes having adverse effects. Plus, you might have a clear out before you go to the hospital or whatever and not have to worry about it. But it really really won't matter. You'll see. :)

I think this happens to the best of us lol!! But in all reality its quite normal and not like we did it on purpose!

I would be more worried about doing a number 2 whilst in labour. Thats one of my fears!

I mentioned this to my husband and he assured me that 1) at the hospital they have seen it all and done it all and 2) he's 99% sure I'll be too busy pushing and yelling at him/nurse/mw to care if I poop or fart..Im not so sure..lol

This thread has made me laugh!! I've had 4 babies and each time I was convinced that I hadn't pooped while pushing. My husband informs me that I did each time!! The midwife cleans it away so fast, that you don't even notice! And they see it with nearly every birth, so I won't be embarrassed if it happens this time! well..... much! lol
