People who dig through our recycle and waste bins and then leave the crap they don't want on the ground around the bins. If you're going to dig through my things like that, at least clean up after your self!

And on that note, litter bugs. Is it really that hard to hold on to whatever it is until you get to a trash bin??! Esp dirty diapers. I can't tell you how many times I've seen dirty diapers in parking lots. Freaking disgusting and RUDE!!

Oh this is a huge peeve of DH and myself!!! HATE when people go through trash, looking for random "treasures". We refuse to even put our trash out anymore until the morning of pickup, and don't set it out until right before we leave for work. The trash pick up is like 15 minutes after we leave, so it doesn't sit there long enough to have people go through that way.

It's one thing to stop and pick up furniture or something clearly in plain view that's being discarded...quite another to go through someone's trash bins. That's really violating.

No, they aren't homeless. I think these people make a kind of business out of going around garbage picking, and then fixing up/cleaning up what they find, and selling it. we see people driving through in trucks with the truck bed full of junk they've picked from people's trash. I'm not actually sure where they are from, but I think they choose to garbage pick our neighborhood because its a nice neighborhood and they find nice things thrown away, many of which are perfectly fine and working condition. Doesn't make it okay at all for them to go through people's trash just because of that, though.

They don't actually cut open trash bags that I know of, its generally just things that are thrown in the trash bins outside of bags. Like large toys that are perfectly fine, and could have actually been donated, but hey its their stuff they can pitch it if they want to. We throw large items like that in the bin, too, outside of trash bags, but generally its broken if I'm trashing it rather than donating it or selling it.

It's mainly homeless people in our area. Or people on public assistance looking for recycling they can make money off of. [There is a woman with a kid and small dog that comes by every two weeks or so, makes me angry and sad - If you can't feed your kid DON'T own a damn dog!! Simple.]
Every once in awhile I see the people with trucks picking through to see if there's anything worth taking to fix up and sell.
I've made a point of making sure the bag of cat litter and poo and dirty diapers are on top, in case the feel the need to break into any of the bags [evil, I know haha]
I've actually yelled at them to get away from our bins if I'm in a mood. They usual ignore me [mostly because they don't speak English ]

We have people like that here but they're scrap metal people, they're normally gypsies (travellers) and have a big speaker phone shouting 'rag and bow' or 'rag bone' never actually understood that part some of them are decent but others will come in your gardens for a nose for anything metal, a few steal copper off buildings too!

Finding scraps by the bins is one thing, it's when someone trespasses into buildings and construction sites to take the copper and other things [tools, wiring, other metal, etc]! That makes me mad. [It's happened to dh when a few of his construction jobs, it's just so rude and selfish!]

Grr the copper/lead theives anger me so much. There was a couple of lads stealing the lead from the roof next door not long after I moved into this house, I didn't know and thought they were breaking in - I was terrified! The police told me it's ridiculously common.
I hate the scrap iron men now too, after they went round taking all the kids outdoor toys/bikes from the gardens in my street, they were turning up during the school run when they knew there was probably no one in to catch them
