What To Pack In Your Hospital Bag - Suggestions

Chapstick! From panting, etc, my lips were cracking. I won't forget it this time!

Ehh I rather be prepared then not have something there. And to be honest my bag is only a medium to small one and its not over flowing or anything at all... at least I'm not going in there with a suitcase! :haha: (And I totally would too for the extra peace at mind haha)

And my LO's bag has lots of extra stuff but that's because I'm using his diaper bag as his hospital bag so a lot of stuff in there just belongs in there.. When I organized his whole nursery and put everything away that's where it goes! Not to mention you never know what might happen...

I dont know if this has been mentioned but take a small amount of olive oil with you. Its the best thing to clean up babys first poos. Put it on soon after babys bottom once there born and when they do first poo it will just be sooo easy to clean. Hope im making sense have a real bad headache.

I did this with my first and it was amazing! :D

Thank goodness for this post, I've spent all morning ironing baby clothes (after washing them) and need to think about what to pack sooner rather than later! Only need baby toiletries now so we'll be getting them this weekend and this post has been a lifesaver!

When you say baby toiletries what do you mean? It's best to avoid all products at first. Allow their natural oils to develop. Just use water and cotton wool and olive oil if really needed and possibly for first poo's like pp said.

Yes, agree. All the midwives have said no products for at least a few weeks as baby's skin is so sensitive. Just water in the bath etc

Not needed and not really that good for baby. Just water and cotton wool. Maybe some olive oil. Babies don't need products def not baby powder. It's all marketing.

Yep I was told no wipes to start, just water and cotton wool. Although the tip for Vaseline before first poo sounds like a good idea!

I think olive oil should work as well as Vaseline. I'm just not happy putting petroleum on a babies bum.

If you wear contacts take a little bottle of solution as air con dries ur eyes as I found out to my discomforts last night.

Sleep mask can be handy too if like my hos the antenatal/postnatal ward looks over the carpark and their security lights are crazy bright!

I'm all packed. Just need cereal bars juice cartons and cotton wool
