+ WTT baby number 1 +

I've spent so much time today looking at nurseries. :dohh: Why do I do this to myself?

i do it too, its like an obsession. Scarily I keep looking at double prams - never single ones!!! both my family and my wife's family keep saying babies (instead of baby).... eek!!!

:growlmad: OH still thinks that a baby is going to cost more than £15 a week  even though i plan to breast feed and use washable nappies :( he doesnt believe me when i see its not that expensive

maybe you need to work out a financial plan? show it to OH and make him see!!! remembering clothes, toiletries etc... can you do it for £15 a week?

Yeah thats what im going to do, write down all the figures and show him, i plan to breast feed and use washable nappies, i dont think i will use washable wipes (not sure yet) but i want to be as green as i can be :) the money left over each week from family allowance i would like to put aside to save for when the baby needs new clothes etc, and sell on the clothes that no longer fits LO :) see whether he will believe me or not :dohh: All the start up essentials i have savings aside for those so that part of it isnt an issue, going to save up even more before TTC too :)

Do you already have space in your house Odd_Socks? Our biggest expense is going to be finding a bigger place!

If you want good baby clothes, my SIL goes to clothing exchanges with other Mums. You can get rid of the stuff they've outgrown and pick up some bargains. eBay also looks pretty good (Yes, i've been browsing. Naughty!)

OH my god, so cannot wait to start trying!
I'm only a few months off right now (providing all continues to go well), but I am so looking forward to it! Nervous to start, but excitable about it!
Today I've been looking at clothes in mothercare and OMG I am so looking forward to it...

i think that is all totally doable - i've never heard of washable wipes tho!!! maybe look in charity shops and Ebay for clothes - they are both fab!!! can you sew? you could make some.

Sooo broody today, haha! Fortunately not in a depressing way.. just so looking forward to when DH is finally ready and we can start that chapter. Had a loooong conversation with my mom last night and it was nice to finally talk to someone about my broodiness and have her be supportive and just listening.. and excited for it to come too (she can't wait to have a little grand baby)! :)

DH and I have had some conversations about babies recently, but not in a "when can we try" context.. just in general. I point them out when we're around campus (we both work full time for the university, he graduated a few years ago, I graduate in Dec, and we're HUGE fans) to show him that life doesn't end with children, you just have someone new to indoctrinate. ;) He seems to be a lot more open to discussing them now that the "pressure" is off so to speak.

I think after we pass the 1 year mark in August, I'll bring the "when" conversation back to the table and I'm really really hoping he'll have warmed up to it more. I would *love* to NTNP during the fall/winter.

At the very least, thinking of it as just having to get through the summer settles my heart a bit and doesn't make it feel so far away.. even if I have to just start a second chunk of time after that. ;)
