My OH has been out in the field, working 60 hour weeks. Out for 12 hours a day and under a
lot of pressure and stress. He left the running of the office to his office manager, who has been with us since we started the business earlier this year. Anyway, things started going really badly at the office - targets were
nowhere near being met, staff not performing - is was a mess. So, after doing a bit of digging, we found out that the manager was telling fibs about the hours she was working - i.e. she was saying she was in 9-5 but was actually just popping in at lunchtime for twenty minutes. As she was on an hourly rate, she was obviously getting paid for a full day. So, OH asked about a bit and found out that she's dating a junkie. To cut a long story short, it then became blatant that she was using too, and so he sacked her.
I went into the office last weekend to try and sort some of the paperwork out. I was in there for two hours - it was a fucking shambles. Then I noticed that she'd moved her PC around so the other staff couldn't see what was on the screen. I decided to go through the internet history and nearly fell off my chair. She had done no work for WEEKS - had been sitting watching porn (and not your run of the mill stuff either
) and trawling the web for sex. She had her profile on several sexual contact sites, complete with graphic photos of her genitalia - double
. So, I cleaned it all up, jaw on the floor all the while.
Cut to today. OH is now running the office himself. It means he's home a lot more which is great.... but he found out yesterday that the manager had been sending the staff all home early, but getting OH to pay them
overtime for hours they hadn't done
OH was working a 60 hour week but not drawing a wage himself, just to make sure the staff were all paid and that the business stayed afloat. I am so angry and upset that not one of them came forward and said anything. We have a toddler and a tiny baby who missed their daddy
