35 and over and ltttc for baby #2 for over 2.5yrs!

Sequenna it will depend on the size of the cysts. It sounds like PCOS, which will explain the irregular cycles. I would think your first line of attack will be clomid or letrozol/femara. I have a friend who conceived both her boys with clomid. It is normally given for 6 mths, she got her eldest on round 6. And youngest on round 1.

Failing that IUI.

It isn't the end of the road.

Thank you x yes I think it is pcos but I did some quick research and it's possible I have pcos of unknown origin (ie my hormonal levels and normal).

We shall see. I feel quite positive now that I know there is an issue but it doesn't mean I won't ever have another.

Sequena - lots of cysts does sound like pcos. I was diagnosed as 19 and am 36 now. Do you have symptoms? Usual are irregular cycles, acne, excess hair and weight problem. You can have it without having many symptoms. If it is then there are many ways to help yourself. Least if you know what it is you can battle it.

Wish and Bex -very pleased you are both recovering well. I hope that having these ops makes a big difference with trying to conceive.

Tommy - I hope the cold is a good sign. I had a stomach bug in the 2 week wait I conceived, my son had it too but I was worse and hubby didn't have it. Wondered if my immune system was already lowering. Keeping everything crossed for you. Xxx

I'm exactly 20 weeks today and finally feeling a little movement, not a great deal and it's only like nudges but least I'm feeling him. Been quite distracted recently my son started school yesterday and organising my friends baby shower including baking a cake so I've not thought about my scan on Monday
Which is good, haven't had a chance to get nervous.

Orchid -hope you are OK.

Xx

Cookie hope your DS enjoyed his first day. Good luck for Monday will be thinking about you.

Hello to everyone else, thinking about everyone.

AFM not feeling overly hopeful and scared to test and loose the glimmer of hope I have.

Sequeena - i was found to have one of my ovaries polycystic although i don't have the syndrome. Dr put me on metformin which I'm still taking now. Do you have any other symptoms of pcos? Weight gain, hair growth, abnormal cycles?

My cycles are usually regular but maybe 4 times a year (I've not counted) I just won't get a period. I am overweight, have horrendous acne and excess hair on My toes, thighs, lower back etc.

My little guy started reception today. The carer said he was very good :) he is starving though since getting home he has had a banana, a salami sandwich, a babybel cheese, a small cake bar, strawberrues and grapes :haha:

Definitely sounds like PCOS then. Hopefully doc will put you on something to help that!

Glad to hear his day at school went well...and funny that he cones home hungry, my boy would be the same. ..no snacks at school!!

Cookie how did your boy find school?

Tommy - not long to wait now, I'm sure it's dragging!

AFM I've been struck down with tonsilitis!! Feeling rotten but doc has given me antibiotics so i just need to wait for them to kick in. Have my follow up appointment with my consultant on monday. And i think AF due by then too and it will be all systems go!

Sequeena that is all symptoms of PCOS. Fingers crossed clomid works for you. Periods 4 times per year is not classed as regular, while it might be "normal" to you, the medical profession regard cycles over 35 days in length as "irregular". If you are as old fashioned as me to still use a paper diary, Try circling the first date of my periods in the Calendar at the front, it might help you to count how long your cycles actually are.

Other than the obvious you are only releasing 4 eggs a year as opposed to the regular 12 or 13, given the long cycles their is a chance the eggs may not be of the best quality because of the lenght of time they've taking to produce. I hope now you have the issue the solution should be straight forward.

Hey girls!

Sorry I am still reading along but I am so sick I am only ever on for a few minutes so generally not enough time to write! But I am here reading and cheering everyone on!

I had my last scan with my clinic on Thursday and it was amazing. The scan before was so bittersweet because of the news about the 2nd baby so I left incredibly upset but this time I was so happy and relieved because my one baby is doing perfectly, measuring right on time and was dancing about for me to see - it was incredible. As the Dr said baby #2 is no more but we could still see the sac... Still I am officially done with my clinic and now just waiting for my referral. I am SO sick so not a lot happening and the last week has been a blur of nausea, throwing up and sleeping! But I am so grateful and know it won't last forever!

Moving has been a bit of a nightmare as I just can't get anything done but we are slowly getting there - I just need to pick away at it when I can...My DS starts Kindergarten on Tuesday which I can't believe but they do a very gradual entry system so isn't in for a full day til the following week.

Bex - so sorry about your tonsilitis, that really sucks! I hope you are on the mend!

Tommy - have you tested? I am hoping desperately for you that this is your month so sending as much :dust: as is possible!!! :dust: :dust: :dust:

Ok - sorry I know I am missing so many of you out but my burst of energy and opportunity has gone and the sickness is returning so it's time for me to admit defeat, take my meds and head to bedfordshire!

Thinking of you all though x

Good Morning Ladies. Hope everyone is doing well.

Fantastic news Orchard that one baby is growing strong. Take your time with the unpacking. Remember once you get to 2nd tri which is only a few weeks away you should have more energy. That should tie in with his going full time to kindergarten. Which in turn will also give you time to rest and unpack.

Bex hope you are over the tonsillitis. I take it the consultant is just checking all is ok with the op.

Sequena when do you next see the consultant?
Little might starting reception. Just being curious what is the
'carers' role? We don't have reception in Scotland we go from part time preschool to Primary 1, which I think is closer to your Year 1.

Cookie is all going well with you? How is DS settling into school?

Braven how are you?

I just seems crazy so many of you have kids starting school.

AFM Still not tested, and I don't even have one in the house. I'm dreading seeing a BFN, I'm not feeling overly hopeful but still have a bit of hope. AF due tomorrow.

Wish, are you completely recovered?

Fingers crossed for you Tommy!! I'm holding out hope for you and sending you loads of babydust!

AFM, no news here. Cd2 today. Previous cycle was ridiculously long at 38 days. I just took part in a 7 day clean eating challenge and hubby and I have gone vegetarian for a month. Kind of like a detox from crappy summer eating and preparation for our upcoming cruise.

LO starts school next Monday, preschool, and she's soo excited. Hubby finally has a job, so stress is down over that. Just getting by.

Hope everyone is well.

Braven - Love you and the DH's idea of detoxing from summer eating - its so true we eat crazy in the summer (although for me I eat bad year around - as the bacon cooks in the kitchen!!) my daughter wants to start the paleo diet - which is kind like what you are doing... good luck and pants about that 38 days cycle!!! (sorry I love using Tommy's word - pants!!):haha:
school and a job - things sound like they are turning around lady!! That's awesome!!

tommy - you have nerves of steel... so tomorrow is your beta? man I am so HOH for you that this is IT!!!!!!!!!

Orchid - I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU... not because you are sick but because you are sick  I am glad the scan went awesome and now we just have to get you through the 1st tri so you can feel better!!!

bex - that stinks about tonisilitis.. :( I hate sore throats of any kind!!! hope its gone by now!!! :hugs:

sequeena - I don't have PCOS - but those symptoms sound awful - I hope this Dr can help you get it undercontrol and you can get your sticky bean soon!!!!

cookie - 20 weeks - almost 21 now - awesome!! your little man will be here before we know it!!!

AFM: just recovering... doing fine - I will go wednesday and get cleared from the Dr... can't wait I miss my running... my hubby is in Colorado and I leave for Nashville Thursday... I will be glad to get back and catch up proper with him!!! He has had quite a string of bad luck - four flat tires on trailer and a blown transmission... i just am praying he gets an elk... that will make it all better!!!
went to my nieces wedding Saturday - here are a couple pics of my and brother n sister... I am in long dress (just in case you don't know):haha:

Any news Tommy?? Really hoping that this is it for you!! xxx

Orchid - I'm really glad baby is doing well, how many weeks are you now? Hope you start feeling better soon. The first trimester can be really hard going. x

Bex - oh no you must feel horrible, tonsilitis is hideous. I hope you feel better very soon. x

Sequena - alot of women with PCOS use Inositol, maybe have a look into it. x

Brave - good luck with this cycle and the healthy eating x

Wish - glad you are recovering and you look lovely in that dress x

AFM - I'm doing fine, yesterday I had my 20 week scan, baby is looking good, I was out of interest comparing measurements on line, I think I'm going to have another long, skinny, big headed baby lol! Definitely a boy and my anterior placenta was confirmed, I actually felt some decent movements yesterday, he was really going for it when I got in bed. Think he was still protesting at being squished by the sonographer.

Here's a pic of him, the sonographer said she hadn't expected to get a good pic as when she started he was lying face down but he flipped mid scan so managed to get a few nice pictures, this is the best one because you can see his little nose and also the going home from the hospital outfit that my son chose...couldn't resist the hat to go with it.

Oh and tommy forgot to say my son has got on great at school, loves it. He's on half days til Friday then will be full time from next week and having school dinners...which will be interesting. How about your boy? xxx

Quick reply good to hear all is well Cookie.
Bfn yesterday but no AF. Living in a dream world of no real hope but can't understand AF being late.

When was was/is your AF due? Keeping everything crossed for you xxx

Ah tommy bfns suck! Do you have any feelings whether you think af will come or not? Boobs etc!! Haha only on this forum could i inquire as to the nature of someone's boobs!!

Sorry Tommy, I meant that I miss 4 periods a year not have 4 periods a year... though that is not very regular either!! I won't get in to see the doctor until thursday now. Very interested to see what he says and suggests.

The carers are the people who sit with him on the bus to and from school. He is in a special needs unit xx

Bfn sucks :( being in limbo is probably worse than getting your period!!

I hope you are all well. Love the scan cookie yay for a boy!!

I have never heard of inositol I will look into it xx

I think I missed ov... I had such horrendous pains on saturday. In my ovary area it was a mix of stabbing pain and a neverending deep ache (a bit like muscle ache). It has gone now. I wonder if it was the cysts.

Hi ladies time for a proper reply.

Braven a cruse sounds bliss, did you find the detox diet hard to stick to? Good to hear DH has a new job, the uncertainly around job hunting is so unsettling.

Wish I'm thinking you have a long drive back to see the Doctor tomorrow. Safe journey. I laugh at your nerves of steel comment, really it was fear of a BFN that held me off testing. Your dress for the wedding was gorgeous, I trust all went well on the day. Your poor DH getting 4 flat tyres, 1 is unlucky, 4 is a nightmare. My last flat tyre was on my due date with DS!! I remember looking at it thinking "oh no! I'm going to have to call somebody out, and wait for ages"
Curious question do cars in the US have spare tyres? About 50% of the cars sold in the Uk Only come with a can of foam repair kit.

Cookie time is flying 20 weeks already, he'll be here before you know it. Is your little boy excited about baby brother? Glad he is enjoying school. DS doesn't start until next year, Scotland has a different cut off date with the youngest in the year the option to defer entry for a year.

Bex lol it is so true, no where else in the world would anybody ask such personal questions esp bodily fluids ones lol. Downstairs I think cm makes me think AF is enroute, but boobs just starting to get tender but that might be me poking them to see what they are doing. Lol

Sequeena, I didn't mean to be prying when I asked about carers. I'd keep a record of your dates and see if any patterns show up with your dates. It sounds like you have ovulated, I assume you don't think you have any sort of endo going on?

AFM I'm ok, was a bit down last night but hey I know better than to build my hopes up. This being in limo is hard but glad I know not to build my hopes up. Will see what the clinic say when the witch shows up.

I didn't think you were tommy don't worry. I'm very open about Thomas' issues and the support he receives.

I hope you get a bfp rather than the witch xx
