Sorry to hear you're feeling frustrated, Daphne. If it makes you feel any better, I feel exactly the same way and I work, but I feel like I never have any money for myself. I think it's awesome you spent your birthday money to buy Finn some clothes and as you said it was necessary so it's not like your money went down the drain on things you didn't need. The only thing I could recommend is buying things second hand. Most if not all of Kenny's clothes are second hand from used baby stores and if not, they're gifts from other people. I can't fathom spending money on brand new clothes when you can get gently used clothes elsewhere. Might make me cheap, but it saves lots of $$$.

Thankfully where I live, it's in a big city so I could literally get a job and if I didn't have a car we have lots of public transport so I don't completely have to depend on a car. But, OH drives me to work every single day and I'm really lucky, without him I'd have to borrow my mom's car and it'd just be really stressful. I'd love to get my own car but realistically, I can't afford to and thinking about car payments, car insurance, etc freaks me out because I just literally can't afford it.

Do you have any local home daycares or maybe friends/relatives that would be willing to watch him? Like a SAHM? Home daycares tend to be A LOT cheaper than ordinary daycares. I know here a daycare costs like $185/week but I found a hom daycare that charged $25/day! Sorry to hear you're frustrated though, just wanted to let you know I can relate and I think you'll find a lot of other girls on here relate as well. If you ever want to vent I'm here :hugs:

:hugs: Daphne! I'm really sorry. Money goes way too fast! Everytime there's money in the account suddenly it's gone! Gas, food, bills, ugh. If you don't mind me asking, what happened with your mom? (not to be stalkerish) but I see you guys posting on fb sometimes and I wondered if you have a good relationship or not.
Maybe you could do something online to make money? I'm not really sure what kind of things your into, but there's etsy where you can sell homemade stuff, or try selling something local (Mary Kay, Avon, purses)
I know I'm not much help but I'm always around if you want to talk!! <3

I do actually like Mary Kay. Never thought I would because I thought I would just loose money but I haven't bought myself anything except for face wash. I'm not sure about Avon but Mary Kay is 50% commission. I've heard good things about Avon though, because they Have a bigger variety.

Etsy is cool because you could literally make anything lol. You find the most random homemade stuff on there. You can google what kind of homemade items sell well to get some ideas.

And eek I know I have a reallllyyyy hard time selling Karinnas stuff. I have a lot of nice brands like gap and gymboree for her and I always want to put it on eBay but I get sad lol. I just can't do it.

I was wondering the same thing about your mom. As for the money Avon you could make really good money off of if you know people that would buy!

Last time I saw money was when it was going to the manager's hands for rent :( :haha:

Does anyone else never carry cash? When I lived at my mom's there was hardcore sticky fingers and I've always used my debit/credit card since then!

I'm sorry, Daphne :hugs: You're lucky you got $1,000 for you birthday though .. I never get anything for mine.

The best thing to do would be to sell Finns old clothes. Realistically are you going to use them any time soon? And think how much money you probably have folded in drawers. I sold all of Maxs old clothes and some toys and I have £200 to show from it. So I've put that towards bigger sizes for him.

I think to be successful selling avon you have to be the right kind of person, I know several people who have tried and failed...
This is a long shot and the money is probably shite but it's better than nothing - when I was younger I used to stuff newspapers? Like put the leaflets inside? You could do something like that at home. And I used to deliver phonebooks, although that's probably a no go without a car. I know you're in the US so it's probably different out there as well but is there anything in that sort of line you could consider?

I never carry cash! And recently I've been visiting more of OHs family who live out in the middle of bloody nowhere, and all the little village shops only take cash, and there are no cashpoints for miles - I was properly penniless for days! My OHs family all think I'm a proper townie princess now, I whinged so much, lol!

Money does suck. :( $1000 is a lot though, you're lucky you got that and it was nice of you to spend it on Finn, especially when it was on essentials! :flower:

I don't really have any advice because it is so different here.. But I hope you sort something out that works for you :flow: :D

I never carry cash either unless i'm on a night out. And I take my card too just in case :haha: And I agree with Laura on selling clothes! I've kept a few bits I'm most attached to but the rest can go! x

I actually like carrying cash if we're going out somewhere because I can be like "Okay I have x amount of cash, that's all I can spend." where as the money just keep coming out of the card if I want it to. :haha:

Thats why I like it ;) Handing over cash feels too real

I only carry enough cash to fill up on petrol or to buy food if I go out. My purse is full of coppers because I always try to top up £10 on petrol at a time but usually end up putting £10.03 or something in..

I agree with Laura on selling finns old clothes. I have so much of Lylas stuff that needs to be sold because she has outgrown it and I have no space at all and she is only 3.5 months old!! lol hope things work out money wise, its so hard sometimes xx
