All these riots everywhere!!!

The royal family don't really say much in situations like this and they don't make any real decisions. There is a cobra meeting this morning at 9 with prime minister etc x

Just saw this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-14471405

How awful :(

People in London were ready to defend their properties last night. About 400 of them because they heard that their high street was going to be next. Bless them, they're doing a better job than the government. Just hope everyone innocent stays safe. It seems we have strength in numbers if everyone stands together.

Nothing in Norwich last night...rumours that Anglia Square and PC world were looted..but they were untrue.xx

people died trying to defend their community in birmingham last night, some seriously injured. It was right by my in laws and now we can get in touch with them. This is so out of hand. There's rumours of police being shot at too. R.I.P to those who have passed

3 young men die in Birmingham last night as a result of rioters running over them

This is all so awful it seems unreal that this is going on

Thats one reason why I feel so angry when I see people taking pictures of the damage and stuff on their phones. Just go home or get out of the area :( your life is at risk doing that. Not that they should need to but ya know. Esp in Birmingham where gun crime is quite prevalent!

I'd seen a facebook group 'the legend that planked during the Manchester riots'

Legend? More like flaiming idiot, how does that make you a legend?!!

For those overseas asking what the royal family do, they do nothing. Whatever powers they have are never (or very very rarely) exercised. They'll probably issue a statement at some point saying how shocked they are but generally they have no part in the running of the country. They are for tradition and tourism and nothing else in my opinion.

I'm only asking because I'm curious... but what's the Royal Family's take on this? Are they saying anything? Doing anything?

Have they thought to call in reinforcements? Sorry, our updates here are so few and far between.

The Royal Family don't comment on anything like this. They are just figureheads really and have no input in the running of the country so tend to stay neutral. At most, after things calm down, they may comment on the good work of the emergency services.

glad its not spreading up north tbh. IDG why a few individuals are trying to incite violence.. not gonna happen!

:hugs: to anyone in affected areas, seems to have spread quite a bit overnight. Not really surprised that london was quiet and the rest of the UK worse considering london had all the police :dohh:

Did you see the story about the twat in Glasgow trying to start something? Honestly, Strathclyde police deal with the chaos of Old Firm Matches- they would wipe the floor with them.

Ditto the posts about the royal family, they're just for show.

I'm heading in to Manchester shortly with the kids. Hoping things are ok at the uni which is just down the road from Piccadilly Gardens where it started off last night. Haven't seen much detail about what happened in Manchester.

So sorry for lives lost in Birmingham. :(

I agree the army should've been brought in for all this. As far as I'm concerned civil unrest and natural disaster should be the primary role of the army.

What about the TA in situations like this?

Apparently they were trying to protect there families business, so i guess they felt they needed to be there at that time!

Just seems like Londons halted and now everywhere else is starting...never imagined Brum to be so bad, i more expected Bradford/Oldham/Manc to be the main areas of trouble outside of London :(

:nope: I'm sure their parents would have rather seen their business go than their children, neices and nephews. Very sad. I guess you never think it will happen to you. Hopefully now people wont hestitate to get out of a situation before its too late.

The royal family do nothing at all really, they are just there for show now, they are completely powerless.
