Any big momma's out there?

lozzy not in any way whatsoever; I do have a tilted uterus but it had lifted forwards by the time I had all my scans. With my first one he jammed himself right in my pelvis at a funny angle from very early on which exacerbated my SPD and made him born with a malformed skull at the back (it looked like he had a ducks beak on the back of his head thankfully by the age of 2 it had totally flattened out); so on one occasion when scanning him they did have trouble but only because he was so low down; otherwise they have had no problems with me whatsoever and I do have most of my weight around my stomach (typical 'apple shape')...

Oh n Mum of Plenty I am originally from Manchester too; I find up there its very common for women to be big-boned; tall and strong, how many of those stories you read in the paper about babies being born suddenly at home within 30 minutes are from Manchester or Yorkshire and so often it is bigger ladies, my husband always says 'boy these Northern ladies are strong I wouldn't want to mess with them'.

Its in our genetics, were build to work on farms and help out with manual labour

Lozzy - I had a lot of scans last time (12 week scan, 20 week scan, 24 weeks scan as she kept her legs crossed at 20 weeks and kind sonographer booked me in again 4 weeks later!, 28 week scan for kidney infection, 30 week measuring scan, 36 weeks measuring scan - they had it in their heads I was going have a ginormous baby because I am big, whereas she was only 9lb 5 at 42+1, and my skinny sisters baby was 9lb 14 and she was a few days early - sorry another rant on fatness lol)., and only had a problem once with a very rude woman who made a point of really jabbing the scanner in to me quite unnecessarily!

its lovely to feel your not alone.. im scared ill be judge like im the only over weight person that ever had a baby lol.. midwife is gona lecture me about my weight and im depressed about it as it is i was loosen weight ttc but i got pregnant so what can i do :( x

I had my scan today. At booking I was 98kg and at 5'1 that put my BMI at 41. I had to have an internal as baby was being a pain and she couldn't get all the measurements. Saying that I was measuring small so she put my dates back to 11+2. Baby is fine though, which is a huge relief after or rather during awful morning sickness. It perked me up seeing baby though :)

Girls who have had scans, did your extra padding affect your scans?

Iv got mine tomorrow and iv read it can make things harder to see

I'm just on my way to bed, but I popped in here first.. I've not had a problem at any scan at all, just make sure you drink a pint of water or 'clear' fluid (or just as much as you can), and it will be fine.. If it's too difficult then they will do one of those vaginal thingies but tbh you should be aye-okay and have no probs. :thumbup:Luck for tomorrow!

I'm from Kent originally! Proper country girl, born 'n bred out in the sticks, unfortunately I think I was bred for carrying a pig under each arm.

Im out ladies. Woke up this morning bleeding heavily, so guess it just wasn't meant to be this time. Not a total surprise as this pregnancy just didn't feel right from the very beginning, so better it ends now rather than later if it has to end at all.

Love to you all and hope you all have happy and healthy pregnancies x

Oh PrincessTiana Im so sorry :hugs:are you sure youve miscarried though there was a girl on 1 of the other sites who bleed heavily they did think at 1st she had but they did a scan to be sure found out it was twins and she had lost 1 she went on to give birth to a healthy little girl.Maybe this is the case with you and its best getting it checked out. xxxxx

Just been to see my lovely lovely GP. Told her what had happened and she was brilliant. Advised me to keep taking the folic acid for now, basically keep an eye on the bleeding - if it gets very heavy or I feel ill to call Dr's back or got to A and E if its out of hours. Oh and re-test in a week - if positive they will arrange a scan and blood tests to see whats going on. But she warned me what with it being so early its unlikely the pregnancy will continue, which I pretty much expected really.

I'll be ok, just got to take it easy and brace myself to try again!

Its good your Dr is being so supportive some Drs couldnt care less. When you say it didnt feel right what do you mean cos Ive heard other people say it and often wondered what they mean?

Oh PrincessTiana I'm sorry to hear that :hugs:

I hope things go the way you want, I totally know what you mean about a 'feeling' that it's not right, maybe it is or isn't meant to be, but thankfully you've got a good doc there, and lots of support too. Good luck with whatever happens.

Thinking of you :) Chin up xxx

I don't know really - it's hard to describe, I just didn't feel very optomistic about this pregnancy from the word go. Last time I was pregnant I got a very strong BFP straight away, my nipples changed quickly and I went up 2 cup sizes between 4 and 5 weeks. I also had raging thrush from conception right through to birth and had an implantation bleed.

This time i didn't have a bleed (not necessarily important - some women have them, some don't!), no thrush, my boobs are big and heavy but not necessarily more so than when AF is due. I didn't get my BFP until day after AF was due this time but it wasn't very strong and took a good 5 minutes to appear. No doubting it was there, it just wasnt strong.

Im ok though - taken some nice strong painkillers and about to have a nice kip as have been up since about 4am. Was doing ok until the deliveryman bought the pregnancy books i bought from amazon - that caused a few tears!!!

this is sooo great, that im not alone:) i belong in here too:)

we should open up a group or make a banner:)

is there a way we can really open up a group and all be buddies? that would be so great:)

Hi my name is clare im a big momma Im 5'4 my bmi is 35...
But at the moment i feel so good i have a baby growing inside me couldnt be happier...
Ive always been big boned but from the age of age of 16 i went on the depo i gained so much weight then i came off it and couldnt shift it i then got diagonosed with Fibromyalgia which caused me to put on more weight.
I went to see a doc at my surgery few years back cos me and OH were trying for a baby for about 2 half years with no success the doc told me " your too fat to concieve" with that it knocked my confidence.
Altogether me and my OH been trying for 8 years we fell dec 08 but we sadly lost it jan 09. Then we went another year trying and here we are now 14 + 5 gone.
My midwife doesnt seem worried as im healthy and well why should we be judged cos we aint a size 0.
I hate it when people look at me when i eat a chip so what i like chips im happy im not starving myself or have a eating disorder i am who i am if they dont like it im not asking them to look at me.
