any other over 35 first time mums?

a quick one - I have a bad cold and LO has three (3) bitings in the last two days at creche, so we think he's bored so might move him up to the next group (over 2s) for visits as he might be bored with his same age group. Yes, he's very clever and he's very cute and HE KNOWS IT!

I think OH will take redundancy, which I am encouraging. He would get 1 1/2 years salary after tax, so it would mean that we would have a nest egg to possibly relocate and he could take some time off to relax, recharge and maybe do another IT qualification. We'd keep LO in creche 3 mornings a week and with the savings, I would then pay for our health insurance.

hope everybody is well! I am trying to do applications for jobs and of course, it is impossible with LO! I told OH that if I do get an academic job, we would be getting a part-time nanny as it was very difficult to concentrate with Finn wanting mummy now! Right now, he is taking all the nappy bags out of the bag (clean ones) and arranging them before jumping into the middle of the mess. On a positive note, he at least tries to clean up after himself unlike OH!

hugs!

Hi ladies,

Sabrina: that is great that Finn cleans up after himself!!! Very impressive:). Thiago will dump blocks over his head and say Chuva ( rain) and than pick them up and put them in the bucket again and dump all over himself again. But when he is done playing I am the one that has to clean up :dohh:!!!
And how expensive is health insurance for you? You know that here is it very expensive.

Storm: sorry to hear about your night. But :happydance: for one more day till the scan!! I forgot what I thought you are having but I think that you are going to have a boy:). We will see if I am correct:).

My sister is calling I will write more later:).

Charlie--for me, the biggest difference was that I had to do less work in some areas and more in others. His walking means I don't always have to carry him, but his walking also means running off and me chasing after him (are little L and J the only ones who do this? Everyone else's LOs stay by your side?)

The other thing I loved was that he was able to vocally express his interest and non-interest in things, instead of just crying. Mood-wise, he's basically the same, I've found. He was a really good baby who slept through, eats well and has a good disposition. Now he's a toddler, and he's the same. Even the tantrums are no different yet. I guess the real difference is the skills they develop during this stage; walking and talking make a huge difference. I know you asked this question ages ago, but I've just gotten around to answering now.:flower:

Hi everyone! I'm currently back East at my parents' house, and I can't stop looking at all the gorgeous trees and the flowers which are still blooming.

J is in toddler heaven; my mum dragged out all of our old toys (they're 35-40 years old!), and my sis dropped off things that I couldn't have lived without, but couldn't fit in the suitcases: star turtle and books. When I first put him down for bed last night, he screeched like a banshee until I came back. Then (and this is the cuddliest J has been in ages), he lay on me and we both looked at the stars. He insisted that we lie check to cheek. :cloud9: He soon began to fall asleep, so I put him back in the crib. He began to wail again, so I put the star turtle in the crib with him, gave him a book, and he yelled, "BYE!" He's even down for a nap right now, which is crazy. According to him, naps are for suckers.

We're going to get him new shoes today, because the ones he has right now are "too tight," as he has informed us. Oh, and he's in love with Grandfather. He practiced his name for a week before we came. Now it's clear as a bell. :cloud9: It was also the first word he said when he saw my dad, and my dad is so chuffed.

Sorry for no personals. I'm wiped.

clio - are you in Toronto? If so, walk past the university and whisper: 'give pamela the job!' ..............(application due by 15th October!)

oh, no! another biting and this time on daddy! and he's going for another one!

borboleta - health insurance here is about 300 + dollars a month, not as bad as the US as we have some 'socialised' medicine, but our employers usually don't pay anything and our salaries aren't as good as most professional jobs in the USA, but yes, it is very expensive in the USA so I tend not to complain about health costs here.

must go as LO has realised that I am on the laptop and NOT with him!

bye!

Ah Clio, that is so sweet about J wanting to lie cheek to cheek, bless him! Thanks for your input, I think life will be easier when Sophia can express her likes and dislikes and probably more interesting too. Not that life is that hard with Sophia, she really is an easy baby and and more importantly a very happy one :). Do you miss Toronto when you go back? Do you hope to move back one day?

Kosh, that is so funny that G does that too and in public! I would want the ground to open me up if Sophia got my belly out in public!

SK good luck with you job apps, your plan sounds great.

Yes Storm, it appears that I have a climber too! She is interested in every that is up!

I am poopped after today! Sophia, like J, thinks naps are for pansies! I am not sure what is going on, but I think so much has changed since we have been away and I need to figure things out again, especially with naps and bedtime. I think this one would be more that pleased with one nap, but in no way is she really ready for that, at the moment her second nap at best is only 30 minutes anyway, but she needs it!

Oh Clio I hope you have a lovely time!

Eekkkkk SK that's a lot of bitings, thankfully L seems to have stopped...

Health care is free in the UK but I have private insurance through work, they pay about £115 month for me and I pay an extra £60 for dh and L. It doesn't cover pregnancy mind you :) tbh I only signed dh up at the start as it does cover £15,000 for fertility treatments and hey you never know!

12 hours til scan... Help!

storm - the day has arrived!! :happydance: looking forward to hearing your news!!!!!

Thinking of you Storm and hoping all will be well. Also very excited to hear gender :D :hugs:

Well ladies all looking well  The new baby is a right little wiggler and everything they check looked fine - baby is measuring about 3 days ahead but I'm sure this was the same with L... and she came on that date so fingers crossed.

Oh and the new baby is :pink: I kind of thought it might be a boy so was a little taken aback but I'm really pleased that L will get a sister - I never had a sister and I'm so happy that she gets to have one :) It also evens out the family numbers given DHs brother has 3 boys, and my brothers have 3 boys and 1 girl and the other brother has 2 boys and 1 girl. Not to mention I will save a fortune on baby clothes :happydance:

All I need now is a name... suggestions please!

Oh and if little T or F would like a slightly younger wife then we can accommodate them both now - lol

PS please don't mention :pink: on FB!

Yey yey for a girl! I think girls are fab, no offence to little boys!

Glad all is healthy and wriggly, always a big reassurance. X

How wonderful she is healthy and kicking :D And yay for another little girl :) But I hope your DH is not disappointed to not get a boy? Or maybe he is hoping for a third try ;)?

And btw what about my boys then? Are they not potential husbands in this marriage mart? ;)

LOL Angel there will be no third - I am done! DH was actually ok, he just said - I'm leaving the 3 of you to it I'm going to hide in the garage - lol..

I said T and F as Borboleta and SK have already laid claim to my mad daughter... but hey you live closer so I am sure we can strike a deal ;)

Hm that would be great but I fear Sabrina might actually be closer to you and will most likely object to our deal. lol
As for names, wow this is hard! We had some very traditional oldy worldy names had we had girls, one was Theodora or Thea for short and one was Frederica after OH's mum. Not sure how either of those would fit with Lydia or how you'd like them anyway, names are such personal things aren't they. Shame Julia is out, I liked it and what a shame you named your dog Cara cause I always liked that. In Italian it means dear or love and I understand in Irish it means friend? So doubly lovely :) But this is not helping hmm..

congrats, storm! I like Julia as I said before....maybe Sarah? um.............

not much here. LO threw up twice last night (the first as a result of playing horsey with daddy, but guess who cleaned up? Not daddy!) and then woke up at 5.30am, and wanted to play with mummy. Mummy, however, wanted to sleep, so guess who won that one? Again, not mummy!

hugs and bye!

Angel I love Thea, DHs aunt is called Fredricka so that's a no no. I'm kicking myself for using Cara for the dog and I did love Julia :( Her middle names will be Sarah May after DHs granny and my aunt - both of who died in the last few years.. the only thing is Dhs cousin is having a girl 2 weeks before us so it also depends what she uses! Oh and don't forget SK is looking to move to the other side of the world!

SK that sucks about your night, we actually had a decent one although we do think her ladyship is having bad dreams as she wakes up screaming and really needs comforted at times - but shes forgotten in the morning??? Who knows! I am also the poop/vomit cleaner upper...fun eh???

storm - :pink: :happydance: and glad to hear she' well and wriggly!!

as for names, I went and had a look at my old list :haha:
If you like kind of old fashioned names how about Greta? Audrey?
Shame about Cara, I love it too, but you can have some variations:
Clara, Cora, Ciara, or even Lara?
I had Julia on my list too. Why is it you can't use it? How about Juliet instead?
I really like Mollie too.

Oh, all this name talking makes me want a girl!!

question re names - do all your LOs have middle names?

I don't thinl you'd like my list as not really old fashioned names. Cara is lovely, shame about naming the dog. I did that to with my mums dog, Zoe, would love to have used that! How about Sara or Zara?? Or too much like a rhyme with your dog?!

Sophia has a middle name, Anne. I don't actually like it though, it was OH choice after his grandma, that was the deal, girl he chooses middle name, boy and it would have been after my dad. If we have another, the middle name will be all mine!
