any other over 35 first time mums?

storm - it's the royal belfast academical institution? I'm hoping that there aren't many people who could teach Latin in Belfast? and as it's a part-time position, might be more difficult to fill?

got three applications (cover letters, statement of intent based on a close reading of the job description, etc) done this weekend - two had to be hand-written and then posted - who does that nowadays? so silly and time-consuming and the worst thing is that you spend hours filling out and they don't even have the courtesy to acknowledge receipt (yes, I appreciate that they might get 100+ applications, but why not have a standard postcard that can be addressed and posted?)....

It's been great not having OH home as well - just like before when he was working -- I was able to do a little housework, check internet occasionally and spend loads of quality time with LO (and Shaun the sheep) - LOL! better go as am making penne and carrots and fish sticks (on one plate, but not all mixed together)

bye!

Ohhhhh SK I read that and thought what? Never heard of it! So a two second Google and all is clear, it's known locally as Inst, and dh went there lol. It's in the middle of Belfast but I'm not sure how the commute would be from the train? I think it might take you a lot longer than you think? Don't let that put you off though cause I'm just guessing. Its a grammar school, so one of the better schools :) You should certainly apply and go for interview and meet me for coffee :)

Storm....when did L stop napping? How old was she?

Well, it's almost 3pm here & DH just took him up to try for a nap.
My god, I hope this is just a short-lived thing, because I NEED him to nap.

His overnight sleep is the same. He falls asleep 8:30-ish & wakes at 7:30-ish.

After 3 ice days, it's 66F (18.9C) today & he's been spending most of his time outside while I'm inside cooking for the week. I wish I had a cook. & a cleaning lady. & a gardener. & a driver. & a shopper.

Anything else happening besides BHs, Storm?

SK...that position sounds almost perfect & maybe moving away from your noisy neighbors will give you some peace at home. GL & FXed.....& how cool would it be if you taught there!!!

N didn't nap yesterday or today...very unusual...

Do yours ever do this?

Sophia has the occasional moment of either no nap, or a very short nap and it is usually developmental with her and then she settles back into naps as usual after a week or so.

Well, it seems he is going through the language explosion everyone talks about....does that count?

Sabrina you would commute from Dublin to Belfast and that only takes and hour and a half? Wow I thought it would be much more? FX you get it!

well...the train would be about 1 1/2 hours, but the first train isn't until 7.30! However, there is a bus which takes about 2 hours each way and it does leave early enough, but I think the 1 1/2 hours would be driving, so I think I might have to get a car (and my license, but I do have my provisonal in the UK and could take the test in NI, I think).....the thing is that it would be three very full days, but I would have a total of 4 days 'off', so it might work....

OH came home and looked after LO for about half an hour (in the same room), and I was able to read a bit of Latin, but I am so far behind!

hugs to all!
bye!

A big leap I would say. I was thinking that he 's at the right age for a language explosion. We have just come through the other end of nap nightmare. I am guessing this has been all the new found running around like a nutter! When I was trying to cuddle her to sleep her little legs would just keep on moving! Hopefully this is short lived for you :flower:

L didn't nap for a couple of weeks and yesterday decided she needed a bobo and a lie down on mummies bed, I was so knackered I went with the flow and she didn't go to bed til nearly ten, was nearly late for nursery (tiny tunes at 10am) and now I'm at the drs to see the midwife, half parked cause the asshole in the car in front won't move forward 1m while they sit in their car... I'm gonna have to move soon and there are no spaces!

Aha problem sortedbthe car behind went so I'm ok. But I'd like to get out and slap Mr Audi A4 who apparently needs a huge gap infront... And letting it go, I'm such an angry person!

Sk I was saying to dh about inst, he obviously knew it by it's proper name lol. He confirmed it's an all boys school, tbh he really struggled there, his mum was adamant her boys would go there but they were pretty poor and dh is not academic at all. Not the schools fault, his stupid mum and her wanting to be able to say her boys went there! I went to Belfast Royal Academy where I had a fine 7 years of faffing around lol. Then Queens for my degree and masters for lots of socialising, some more faffing and some hard work :)

So no sign of baby, horrendous heartburn and acid reflux, I know why L couldn't sleep as a child now! Lots of bhs, random cramping and I'm finding it hard to drive. 39 weeks tomorrow! Why do I think I'm going overdue now? I haven't dropped either...

Today I intend to cook a pile of spag bol and chilli and freeze it all as I can't see me cooking much with a newborn and Miss L... What's the chances I go into labour halfway through the cooking lol...

Better go see mw...

Happy 2nd birthday Finn! I hope you will have lots of fun and get spoiled by mommy and daddy! :D Sabrina I hope you will manage to take piccies and share them with us?:D

thanks, guys - I will try to take pictures!

It's a wet, miserable day so nowhere to take LO, but hopefully, cake will be enough....?

hugs,

bye!

Oh SK the weather here is terrible too, I can't even face walking the dog, I know my clothes will get soaked and I'm down to my last pair of jeans I can squeeze my big fat pregnant butt into.. I'm sure F will be happy with cake! L just wanted a cake with candles so she could blow them out :)

Sabrina: Happy birthday Finn!!! Can you believe he is 2!!!! What kind of cake did you make? You know I love cake and thiago and I would love to be close by to have a piece and play with Finn:).
I was thinking Sabrina that Finn came 3 weeks earlier? So his due date was going to be around thiago's due date if he had come on time feb. 24. We were having some fun around the same time girl :haha:!!!
And I meant to ask you if now that you live in Ireland you have an Irish accent? Or still a NY one?

Indigo: :happydance: for a 2 hour nap!!! I don't know what I do if thiago wouldn't take a nap :dohh:!!!

Storm: how did the appointment with the mw went?

Charlie: love the pic of S in her rain boots!! She is having so much fun!! Something about water puddles just draw kids in :dohh:!! Thiago does the same thing :haha:.

Claire: hope the dentist visit goes well .

We had a good weekend with OH's birthday on Saturday. We made Mediterranean food and it was lovely :winkwink:. Thiago the picky eater likes tabule :dohh:!!!! It is beyond me why :haha:!! Kids :haha:!!! And he likes falafel too. Didn't touch the rice or the meat.
I would love to know what goes on In his mind. When he does something really cool and OH's family is here, they all clap for him but I think he doesn't like all that attention because he starts moaning and throws himself on the floor ! Like saying "can you stop that!! No big deal!". Maybe he is just not used to it because when I am with him I just say "that looks great thiago", or " good job" but I don't jump up and down and clap my hands and scream yayyy . I don't know...
And we started working on his birthday. Got the invites figured it out and now we just need to print them. I found out about Pinterest and am very impressed with it :haha:. That is how I found pocoyo's invitation. I will try to take a picture and post on fb for you ladies to see it. And talking about thiag being overwhelmed, we will have about 50 people invited to his party :dohh:!! 16 are kids , most of them his age group . Already reversed the children's museum for his party and put a deposit for the cake lady to make his cake this year again . I just love birthdays and I think thiago will be so happy to see all the pocoyo plates and cups and cake and cookies . He was already excited when he saw us picking the plates and cups in the website .
It is 7am and he is still sleeping. He went down at 7:45pm yesterday .

Hugs everyone:).

Happy birthday Finn! :cake::wohoo: hope he enjoys his cake!

Aggggrh Storm, I feel your pain, I hated been 39 weeks pregnant, you just can never get comfortable. I think baby will arrive this week.... Did someone suggest bets on due dates? I am going for the 7th. Don't worry about baby not dropping, after your first they can drop literally just as you go into labour.

Borboleta, little T sounds so sweet and quite shy, not liking all that clapping and attention, bless him. Sophia is quite the opposite, OH claps her a lot when she does something new, or right., such as getting off the sofa safely, so Sophia claps herself and looks at us for a round of applause! :dohh:

Charlie: you are so right. I guess I always imagine a shy baby as someone that hides behind your leg ( he doesn't do that) but I guess there is shy that is like thiago. My nephew was quite the opposite and loved all the attention he could get :haha:. He would dance and jump and do all this tricks so we could clap for him :haha:. Too cute:).

Clio: I forgot to thank you for the two diapers idea at night time :happydance:!!! Best invention ever!!! He hasn't licked for 2 night in a row :happydance:!!!

Charlie I was told not to expect her to drop til labour. The good thing is my bladder is fine, the bad thing is my lungs are squished and the acid is shocking.

Borboleta L likes a good round of applause too, I think T is just a little shy. She's used the potty and toilet a few times over the last few days and she practically demands a standing ovation! I seriously hope she doesn't demand the toilet trips too much when the newbie arrives!

LO is definitely in the terrible twos today - already had 5+ tantrums! For his b-day, lots of Shaun the Sheep (I don't think I can watch any more)....

will try to take pictures...

hugs!
