Anyone else about 28 - 30 weeks? Due late November - December.

Hi I'm 30 weeks and due 28th November. Does everybody know if they are having a boy or girl? We are team yellow x

I'm the same due date as you loubylou. Now that we have reached the 30's it feels so real but yet still some time off. We are expecting a boy.

How far along is everyone with their nursery preparations and buying things for baby? We only just started as I'm a bit superstitious. We started our antenatal classes last week.

Ah is it your first? It's our second. We have a boy already and I'm desperate to know what this one is! Just started buying a few bits now I'm 30 weeks. Nice to have a bump buddy!

Thanks for putting together the list. You can update me to team blue!

I would like to join :)
I'm a little over 27 weeks (27weeks 4 days) EDD Dec 19 with boy on the way:happydance:

That list is great! I was just sat here thinking how lovely a big list would be because my baby brain was struggling to keep up, I'm very glad you are more proactive than I!

Speaking of baby brain I completely forgot to reply properly to Jennifer - you said you were anxious over your upcoming c section and possible other surgery. I just wanted to send you a virtual hug. It must be scary but now you have all of us bump buddies to cheer you along and metaphorically hold your hand x

May I join you ladies? I'll be 30 weeks tomorrow. I find myself more exhausted each day! lol

Snap! We have the same due date. I too am exhausted but am blaming the head cold I'm struggling with, went for a nap after work today, so bold! ;)

They have me down for a due date of Dec 17th but all the ultrasounds are showing differently. We will see..... I am having a little :blue:

I hear ya whittnie - I stress out over everything! Is the whole house being remodeled or just a few rooms? I wish we had hardwood in our bedrooms, but first of all DH hates hardwood in bedrooms and second we have to go through a huge process to get approval with our hoa to install them (not something I would like to tackle at the moment). I hope it gets done sooner than you expect so you have some room to breathe. :hugs:

You shouldn't feel silly at all about the clothing, it's one less thing you'll have to worry about when he outgrows some of his clothes and you need the next size up. You should post a pic of the coming home outfit!! My mom is knitting the coming home outfit for our baby girl (it's going to be Christmas-y - I'm excited about it). You might be able to find something similar through google or joining a local online mom's group forum and asking them.

Thanks again Creative for making that list; there are a lot more ladies due late Nov through Dec than I expected!!

Just curious if anyone has started on their birth plans? I was given a form to check off for mine that surprisingly included a lot of my preferences, so I'm feeling much more relaxed about the process now.

Thanks creative for making the list :) and welcome to the new ladies of this thread x

For those getting induced early or getting a c-section early, would you mind sharing why? If it's too personal that's fine but I'm just curious!

I have myopia (extreme thin retinas) so pushing for me is out of the question or it could result in me ending up blind . They won't even let me attempt a natural birth because of this x

Wow, seriously?! I have that too, and had to have scleral buckle surgery on my right eye to to reattach my retina in that eye 3 years ago. My doctor hasn't said anything about not being able to push due to this. This has me worrying now.

It was brought up at an eye check up when I was pregnant with DS about 9 years ago (during the usual lecture about no sport or physical activity ,apparently even running isn't good or horse riding  ) he noticed my big belly and asked if I realised pushing was out of the question (I didn't give it any thought up until then and was ready to push ) he said the strain from pushing would be enough to cause damage ,wrote me a note and I gave it to the MW .ever since it's stayed in my notes and just agreed that it's too risky to attempt natural labour . Please don't let it worry you tho , but maybe talk to your eye specialist /gp about it . Perhaps mine was just over cautious .
I'm too scared to test out his theory :hugs:

I actually lost most of the vision in my right eye due to the detachment and subsequent surgery to reattach it, though I still have some (better than none at all). My surgeon said no contact sports and no looping rollercoasters. She said exercise was fine once I recovered from surgery (that took about 6 months). It is in my file that I had this condition and the surgery, but my OB hasn't said anything. Maybe our conditions are a little different?

They most likely are ,I'm glad you will be able to have a natural birth:) as amazing as my c sections were ,it would be nice to have the choice lol x

I've done mine and the consultant has signed and ok'd it.

I agree! Thanks so much for creating the list :) I'm looking forward to hearing everyones birth announcements as we get closer to due dates.

I am not going to write a birth plan... I wouldn't have a clue what to write! Can you ladies fill me in on whether you think they are a good idea and what sort of things you include? Sorry if I sound a bit clueless. I'm a FTM and was just planning to see what happens in terms of the labour process. Start naturally with no drugs but open to doing whatever is needed for safe delivery of bub xxx

I am on baby number 4 and this is actually the first time I have written one. I had my hand forced because I am 44 now and the consultant was erring on me having a hospital birth so I wrote clearly what I wanted. I am having a home birth.
For me the major issues were birth companions, active birth, delayed cord clamping, placenta delivery, vitamin K, tears/ cuts, intervention.
I'll add a copy later

I intend to have an active homebirth.

Birth Companions: I would like my husband Chris and my children Joseph (21) and Eden (14) to be present. (my other Child Oliver (19) is currently away at University, but should he be home and want to attend, he will also attend). I believe that we should welcome this baby as a family and will require everyone be allowed to be present if I do have to transfer and birth in hospital. This is immensely important to me.

Pain relief: I intend to be extremely active through my contractions and to use meditative walking to combat the pain. I wish to be active through every contraction of the first stage as this has worked for me in the past and the focus it gives me helps greatly with pain management. I will use gas and air if I felt overwhelmed during this period.
In transition and second stage I wish to have gas and air available to me should I need it. I will at this time remain in an upright position (either standing or squatting).
I may also require the gas and air to be available until after my placenta is delivered.

Examinations: I would prefer not to have VE performed during most of my labour and instead to “listen to my bodies needs for pushing etc” I do not wish to have my waters “broken”.
If the baby appears to be poorly positioned or labour is not progressing well for some reason, I would appreciate it if the midwife could suggest changes of position or movements which might help.

Birthing: I wish to have a quiet environment for the birth. I am not a shouter in labour, I believe that a peaceful environment with low lighting and gentle music will enable me to focus. I shall probably choose to give birth on the lower level of my house. I may have a bath or use the toilet which are on the upper level. I intend to birth on the floor in a squatting or standing position. I do not want to be on my back as I feel it is not natural for labour.
I would like to be the one to “catch” my baby and intend to have skin to skin contact immediately, so I will lower myself down and bring baby up onto my tummy or chest (cord willing).
My previous births have left my perineum intact, but should an incision be necessary, I would prefer to tear rather than have an episiotomy.
Please do not announce that the baby is a girl or boy as I would like us all to share in that moment of joy and look for ourselves!
Suction may be performed as necessary, but whilst the baby is on me.

Delayed cord clamping: I wish for my cord to remain uncut and unsealed until the pulsating has ceased. I wish to have a physiological third stage, but should it be necessary I will have Syntometrine or other drugs. I am happy to use conventional cord clamps.
I fully accept that if baby fails to respond, that immediate cord clamping, cutting and resuscitation should take place.
I also accept that should I have PPH then immediate clamping and syntrometrin (or other) may be used.

Placenta: I do not wish to keep the placenta

Breast feeding: I intend to breast feed and will offer baby the chance to as soon as possible.

Vitamin K: Oral or IM (not yet decided which)

Stitches: Should these be necessary, I would like to have gas and air as additional pain relief. Do not perform if it felt the tears would repair naturally.

In case of emergency: Should an emergency or transfer be required, I do not wish to be on the ambulance trolley on my back and wish to be laid on my side.
In the event of thick meconium being present I am happy to transfer, but in the case of thin I will remain at home.
I do not wish to have a caesarean and wish to investigate all other processes before having to go down that route.

If hospitalisation is required: I wish to be discharged home as soon as possible. I wish the birth companions listed on the front page to be in attendance during my birthing.

Role of my Midwife: to support and encourage as necessary.

I accept that all eventualities cannot be covered by a birth plan and that my birth may not proceed as I have planned.

Thank you for the list Creative, and WOW what a great birth plan you have!

It just sounds fantastic, you've been there before and so it's great to see that you want to have a natural birth.

I haven't wrote one either, as this is my first I don't feel comfortable having her at home but I will definitely love having a natural birth with no medical intervention, but I guess you never know how things may go.

Excited to hear everyone's birth story ..only few weeks left!

Thanks so much creative! That is brilliant. It's so helpful for a FTM like me to read xxx

Wow Creative that is a comprehensive birthing plan, i havent done one yet but mine will probably consist of 'Lots of drugs please' That is all :)
