Anyone TTC #1 and 30 or older?

Hello! I'm 32 and DH is 35. It is definitely hard sometimes to see friends with multiple kids already and sending them off to elementary school, but I'm glad I waited. I got married in my early 20s and it didn't work out, so I'm very thankful to now be with a man who is truly my partner to raise a family with. Impossible not to hear the clock ticking, but I am mostly financially and emotionally secure at this point in my life (well, at least more than ever before!), and as ready as I can be to tackle parenting.

This is cycle 1 for us and I'm CD 9. I've been temping and seeing a drop the last few mornings, so I don't know if I'm going to O early. I just came off Natazia BCPs almost 2 months ago, so I think things are probably still a little wonky. We are so early in the game that I'm trying not to worry about anything and just start getting to know what my body is up to.

Welcome to the wild ride! Good luck!

Welcome, bluebird! :flower:

How is everyone? I am currently 1dpo and hoping for the best! Our timing was great this cycle :happydance:

Yeah, that's good news.

Yay Holly! :happydance: FX'd for your BFP!!

I finally went to the RE yesterday. Good news: he doesn't think my thyroid is the issue, but we are waiting on some more blood work to confirm. But in other news, he put me on Clomid to shorten my cycles and get rid of all that mid-cycle bleeding. There was a lot of science explained to me yesterday that I'm not sure I understand fully- but basically, the longer my body waits to ovulate, the weaker the corpus luteum, and thus the spotting that happens four days before ovulation. The fact this is happening consistently and ovulation is taking longer and longer to occur each cycle was concerning. So this go 'round, we'll see if inducing ovulation a week earlier helps the spotting. DH's work schedule shouldn't line up with BD again until December, so this first cycle is a trial run.

I am a little sad about resorting to this so early in the journey :sad1: but at least my RE seems very helpful. And for everyone in this group, he reassured me WE HAVE PLENTY OF TIME! And that I am "very young." That made me :D

I'm 9 DPO today.

We'll see, I'm not too optimistic though but I guess TTCing for 1 year does that to you:nope: If it's yet another BFN, I'll be trying the Conceive Plus again:thumbup: Then we'll see when I start assisted conception but I'll probably have 1 more normal cycle after the next one to try naturally. That'll be because I won't be able to get the HSG done shortly after the 1st meeting as I'll have Oed 4-5 days before and they won't let me do an HSG if there's the slightest chance the egg is fertilized. So I have 2 cycles more to try naturally before I can earliest start assisted conception, I think.

Hihi!

I'm 30 and my wife is 36. Using donor sperm, no idea the age of the donor.

Hard to believe I have friends who have kids in Jr. high already. Lucky!

Hoping for this cycle to be the one!

Welcome, vanessamegan and amigone! :flower:

Praying- that is good news! Hopefully the Clomid will help work things out, if nothing else than to get your body back on a regular rhythm. Don't feel bad about going this route so early. Its always better to address issues earlier rather than too late! :hugs: That is great to hear your doctor call us young!! :haha:

Kat- Ive got my fingers crossed for you!!

Hello ladies, been trying to avoid the Internet so I don't spend hours Googling, but just checking in on you.

Hollyness and Kat, I've got everything crossed for you.

Praying, good news about the thyroid. Your RE sounds great! Hope that the Clomid will sort things out.

Welcome bluebird, vanessamegan and Amigone!

Physically I'm feeling fine, no symptoms at all, carrying on with my usual activities. Wish I could say the same for my emotional state lol. Have got another scan on Saturday and I want to cancel!

I lost track of this thread for a bit! How is everybody?! Any new BFPs to report?? I'm on CD3 of our now 4th cycle trying. It is so frustrating when you time everything perfectly, but still don't have any success. Oh well, onto the next cycle!

I hope you are all doing well! Any fun Halloween plans this weekend?

Nothing yet. I'm on cycle #15 and trying Conceive Plus for the second cycle. I've upped my dosage from a bit over 1 mg to 2 mg since I've been thinking maybe I'm not using enough. I'm CD11 today and tried this upped dosage for the first time late last night. I'm sure DH will want to get 1 more BDing session before I O Saturday so I'll be trying with the 2 mg again. Here's hoping it works:thumbup:

I have my 1st meeting with the fertility clinic on the 5th so it'll be exciting to hear what my hormone results are plus what the ultrasound will show. So hoping that they don't find anything seriously wrong:nope:

In other new it's my cat's birthday Saturday:) Well we don't know for sure she was born November 1st as her previous abusive owner didn't know and the vet at the shelter guessed her to be from November 2011 so DH and I chose November 1st as her birthday. Never had a cat before where I didn't know their exact birthday so it's still a bit weird.

I hope all goes well at the doctor, Kat! It can't hurt to try a bigger dose, so hopefully it helps :)

Happy birthday to your cat!!

Happy birthday to your cat!!

Thanks Hollynesss:hugs:

Since DH did't complain of it being too slippery in there, I'm thinking I can keep trying the upped dose:haha: DH is feeling optimisic about that meeting as he doubts there are any serious issues going on, mostly because I'm so regular. Here's hoping I'm worrying for nothing and DH is right:thumbup:

My cat thanks you:flower:

Hey ladies, sorry for being so MIA- I've been trying to stay off the forums to keep myself from panicking about what is wrong with my body, but then I realized I have no one else to talk/vent to about any of this right now!

I had high hopes that this first Clomid cycle would make me O at a more normal time, but it looks like the same old story- another late ovulation and long cycle. I'm on CD 21 with no positive OPK yet. Temps are so super wacky that FF detected O already, but I know better, this happens every month. Every month I think I may have missed the surge and O'd on time, but every month I am unpleasantly surprised when I do actually get my positive OPK on CD 23-26.

The next step is to up my dose I suppose, but I am scared about the long term effects of fertility drugs. The more I read, the more I don't feel comfortable with this at all :nope: I feel like I could be more hopeful if I'd had one normal cycle since getting off BCP, but I haven't had a single one. And gosh darn it... I would love for DH to be around once in a while so we could actually have decent timing! Maybe despite my body being screwy, there would at least be a chance!

Okay. Rant complete. Sorry for being

In other news, I'm thinking about adding CoQ10 to my ever-growing list of supplements in case poor egg quality is to blame... anyone taking it and if so, in what dose?

Kat- good luck at the clinic!! I hope you get some good news and reassurance, or news that something is an easy fix! Keep us posted :)

I will:)

And I've been taking CoQ10 for about 4-5 months and it hasn't seemed to help me, at least not yet. I was taking 100 mg at first but upped it after the first round to 160 mg which is my current dose. I think I read somewhere that you're supposed to take about 4-600 mg a day (don't quote me though but it was up there somewhere) but DH thought it sounded insane (since we don't have any proof or more tangible indication my egg quality stinks) and those pills are pretty expensive here, hence the lower dose.

Praying- I'm sorry you're having a rough time :hugs: You should ask your doctor about CoQ10, she can probably tell you the best dose to take for you.

I worry about taking too many supplements as you never know if some of them could be cross-reacting, or if you're getting too much of certain nutrients. Right now I only take prenatal vitamins, but I would really love to give Fertilaid a try.

I will definitely ask him about it! I will probably be heading back in next week since I didn't O by the prescripted date. Checking egg quality was one of the next steps he mentioned last time. While it would be great to get answers once and for all, part of me wants to return to NTNP and just let God do His thing. Everything feels so forced at this point.

Hi, can I join you ladies?

A little about me - I'm turning 34 next week and celebrating 5 years with DH in two weeks. We starting TTC #1 in Feb this year and I got pregnant on the first try, but m/c just a week later, so I was 5 wks. We tried unsuccessfully for another 5 months.

I had my CD3 blood work done and found out that my FSH was 15 (which is bad). After I got that test result I started doing acupuncture & Chinese herbs. On the advice of my acupuncturist, we stopped trying for 2 months while she worked on getting my cycles healthy. We just tried again in Oct but BFN...CD1 is today.

Surprisingly this is the first month that I haven't cried on CD1...probably because we are going to Napa in a week where I will be enjoying plenty of wine! I was sort of stressing out that if I did get my BFP right before Napa that I'd be worried about m/c early again the whole time we are in Napa (plus of course I wouldn't be drinking, which kind of defeats the point of going!).

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. Hopefully we will all get our take-home babies soon. 2014 has not been a good year for me and I'm just hoping that next year will bring some better luck.

Kat - I just ordered CoQ10 but I got the more absorbent form - I think it's called ubiquional or ubiquinone or something weird like that. I'm going to take 200 mg per day for improved egg quality. You're right - it is very pricey! You might want to get your Cycle Day 3 blood work done to confirm if you have any issues with your hormone levels.
