Anyone TTC #1 and 30 or older?

Pihabella- i hv just started temping this month and feel this is one way to know when exactly ovulation happened. Otherwise, it's just a guessing game. Yes, you might have missed the surge.

Kat- hope your doc order antiobiotic for you. I thought it's a standard procedure before HSG.

Hi Ladies,
I am new here (again, I was on here last year in the summer time).
I am 32, my BF is 24 and we are TTC #1 and have been for a while.
I had an HSG on monday and my OPK this morning was "almost there" so I think tonight it should be a straight positive.

Hoping to see a lot of success stories here.

Our RE didn't mention it but I think Danish doctors aren't interested in giving people antibiotics unless they have a condition that requires it, they don't give it as a preventative thing:nope: Think it's due to the rise on multi antibiotic resistant bacteria which is happening because some doctors have been giving people antibiotics for minor things where it wasn't necessary.

I'll see what the doc at the HSG place does but no one has mentioned anything about giving me a preventative antibiotic:shrug:

Welcome, MissMac! :flower:

Fleur- I hadn't heard that from anyone else, either, but it does seem that the ones whose cycles return normal quickly and they conceive quickly weren't on it as long as those that took a while to regulate. But then again, look at me, I've been off of it for 5 years and still am having issues! :haha: It might be one of those things that are different for each person.

Pihabella- I agree, temping is really the best way to confirm O. Just to be a on the safe side, you could keep up the BD every other day for a few more days just to cover your bases :)

I am over the age of 30 (currently 32 now). We have been trying for ttc #1 since 2010. After a year passed, and no bfp, we had the doctors take a look and figure out what was going on. Apparently we have what is considered male infertility factor, azoospermia. After the second IUI, we kinda have put it on hold to try and enjoy life (besides we spent so much money and nothing to show for it). I was a mess after the 2nd IUI, hormones were all over the place. We're hoping to try again next year after summer is over - home insemination route instead of through the dr/clinic as a way to save money. I probably don't quite fit in this group but I thought I would join anyways and see.

You absolutely fit deafgal, and welcome! :flower: I'm so sorry to hear about the complex journey you've been through so far :hugs:

Welcome deafgal! Sorry you've had so many struggles.

How is everyone going with their current cycles?

9DPO today. AF is due on 23/11. Don't really feel that this is my month though I did have some symptoms.

4-6DPO - AF cramps and backache
7-8DPO - Head cold
9 DPO - craving for sourish food

But all these symptoms were the same before AF. So nothing really special.

Still sounds positive zen! Good luck this month :thumbup:When will you test?
AFM- CD20 now and my OPK is getting lighter again which leads me to believe I did miss my surge around thurs/fri on the tests (CD 16-17). I will try and put a pic up of my progression so maybe those more experienced with OPKs can give me their thoughts? Hopefully you can read them- the lighting is a bit crap. CM has been creamy for 3 days now since saturday. Will still keep testing to make sure I don't have a second surge (or first!).

I will test on 27 Nov. But usually don't need to wait that long as AF would have arrive by then. :winkwink:

Like what Holly said, to be on the safe side, keep on BD-ing.

5dpo, got at least one BD in, the effort wasn't really there this Cycle :-/ I should get AF next week 11/24. First appointment in three weeks....

How is everyone going with their current cycles?

I'm currently waiting for 1 more temp to confirm O. I don't feel like we have much of a chance this cycle as hubby's work and school schedule have exhausted him the past couple weeks so we only BD'd twice. If my temps are right (first cycle correctly temping), we may have timed it okay but still not getting my hopes too high.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Still waiting for AF after the D&C - 4 weeks ago today  - so I don't have any normal cycles to speak of. My pregnancy test last week was still giving a faint BFP so I don't know if my hormone levels have gone down. Going to test again in a few days to check.

I hate this wait, and reading about women who haven't had their AF return till 12 weeks after D&C isn't helping!

Good luck everyone, hoping you for a few BFPs this month.

Kat and Praying, hope everything goes well for your HSGs, that you'll get some answers AND a quick BFP afterwards!

Welcome miss.mac and deafgal. So sorry to hear about your issues with TTC. deafgal, is there any way to improve sperm quality?

Hollyness, yes unfortunately we never know which category we'll fall into until we start trying...

Fleur, wishing u luck for a real BFP this month. I understand the wait plus the BFP's due to hormones must be really hard on u.
I had a positive OPK yesterday after HSG on 12 Nov.
We BD'd twice last night and will again today.
Like I have mentioned before, I really have my hopes up high now after the HSG.

I hope it works out for all of us

Thanks Fleur! :flower: The closer it gets, the more nervous I am about it... I guess they could find something really bad. I've been lying here awake for the past couple hours with my silly worries. It's not helping things, I know. 5 more days until DH is home. Just keep swimming...

miss.mac, I'm not trying again till January (maybe end of December if I have 2 normal cycles by then but it's looking highly unlikely). In the meantime I'm just here cheering you all on! :happydance: for your positive OPK, fingers crossed for you.

Praying, I won't tell you not to stress because I would be so nervous too in your place, but try to remain positive. I've heard the HSG actually clears things out and makes pregnancy easier. Even if they do find something not quite right, they'll be able to help you. Don't forget about 98% of women do manage to fall pregnant and carry to term, either on their own or with some assistance! I didn't realise your DH wouldn't be with you, we're here for you in the meantime, and you'll get lots of TLC from him this weekend :hugs:
