Anyone TTC #1 and 30 or older?

Kat, fingers crossed that this month you’ll get a BFP… And I’m sure you wouldn’t even mind having twins :haha:

Thanks Fleur:flower: Nope I wouldn't actually but DH might have a minor heart attack:haha: We did agree though that that's our max, I think 3 would start to become too much and I don't know if it'd be safe at my age to be pregnant with triplets anyway:wacko:

Good that your cycles are getting shorter. Hope you soon can start TTCing for real if you get my meaning:happydance:

Kat- prolactin should be below 25, so I'll just stay on my current dose of meds til I get pregnant. :)

So you're under that which is good:thumbup: Hope that helps and your BFP is just around the corner :dust:

Thank you Fleur! :hugs:
Last month, which was my first temp cycle, I also woke up a few times during the night but I heard that it could happen because you are so afraid of not waking up in time to check your temps. :haha: This time I'm trying to be more relaxed about the whole thing...

Welcome to all the newbies! :flower:

Kat, I'm keeping my fx for you! When are you testing? This month still or is it beginning of March?

AFM: CD8 here and not much to report... :haha: My family is coming to visit this weekend so I'm excited about that! :happydance: Haven't seen them or my 2 nephews since October :sad1:

Good luck everyone and I hope we all get our :bfp: soon :hugs:

The nurse told me to test at 16 dpiui which will be March 5th but if AF comes, I'll test anyway since the clinic wants you to test to be sure:wacko:

How lovely:) I see my niece maybe every once every 2-3 years or so since my brother lives in the USA and doesn't come to Denmark every year even though they have a summer house here:shrug: My sister's kids (also in the USA), well I've only met her daughter and that was a few years ago. Since then she's had a boy but DH and I haven't had the money or opportunity to go to the US (plane tickets are really expensive here because of the insane taxes ) and she talks about coming to Denmark to see us but never does:shrug: DHs job can also make it tricky to plan trips since he sometimes gets sent to other countries for projects and sometimes without much warning (he's a chemical engineer) Although it's a bit easier now since he's not a trainee anymore. Although my brother refused to understand this some years ago since we had to keep pushing a planned trip to the USA forwards every month because of a project DH was on that required him to travel a lot and the delays were hard to predict and he was informed badly.

So we only see DH's niece and nephew on a fairly regular basis but that's mostly during family birthdays and the holidays.

Anyway hope you have a nice visit from your family EElse:happydance:

Thanks Kat! :flower:

I can't imagine only seeing my sisters and/or parents every 2 to 3 years - we have always been very close. I lived with my sister and her husband for almost 4 years and even though we had our fights, we drew even closer during that time (I helped her when her second son was born).

I've read your posts on your brother's attitude towards your TTC journey and I'm really sorry that neither he nor your sister are very supportive. :hugs:

My parents in law live two blocks from us so we see them regularly (we also go to the same church) but the SIL (I have 2) live further away and I see one of them about once a month but the other only once a year.

Good luck and I hope that AF stays away for you and that you get your :bfp:!!

Your very lucky:flower: My family is rather divided, partly due to the 2 matriarchs being mentally ill. My sister was lucky to escape it since her father and our mother divorced when she was very, very young. My brother and I have a very poor relationship because he's so arrogant and constantly tells me how self-absorbed and childish I am:wacko: Don't know why he feels this way since no one else I know has this opinion of me:nope:

Just got the news my DH has been one of the unlucky 50 that has gotten fired from his job:wacko: They've actually let him go from today but he wants to finish some things up before he leaves them so they're gonna let him do that. He's entitled to 5 months pay though and they're giving him 3 extra months pay (so 8 months all together) which is pretty good. Don't know if he can find something in the same field, he works in oil:wacko: So he's gonna be busy networking and sending applications and hoping he finds something soon. The problem is he might have an easier time finding something overseas but we're getting free fertility treatments in this country so it would be best if he can wait with oversea applications until I get my BFP and am at least past the 3 month mark:wacko:

I'm so sorry to hear about your DH losing his job. Hopefully he can find a new one soon and one that allows him to stay there. :hugs: to you and I'm keeping my fx for your :bfp: this time so that if needs must, you can move with your DH without any risks.

Good luck! :flower:

Hi all,
Just thought I'd introduce myself. Trying to conceive #1 aged 35. Currently on CD17. I don't chart as I'm kind of new to this. Managed to BD cd 7, 9, 12, 14. Hate this two week wait!!!

Kat, twins sound perfect, triplets would be overwhelming and a more difficult pregnancy. So sorry to hear about your DH getting laid off. Could he still apply for jobs in Denmark till you get your BFP? It’s good that he’s getting 8 months pay but I hope he'll find another job quickly.

EElse, this is exactly what happened to me! I was so stressed about waking up too late to temp that I slept very restlessly and kept waking up during the night. I’m told it gets easier though. Have a great weekend with you family!

Welcome littlemissb, good luck for the 2WW!

Sorry to hear about your DH job! My DH and I went through that last year but after 4 months of being unemployed he actually makes significantly more money now then he did at his old job and absolutely loves his new location and people he works with!! He couldn't be happier. I totally whole heartedly believe that Everything happens for a reason. I do hope that your hubby can find a local job though so you can continue to receive the free treatments! That is amazing it is free!! Is that covered under your insurance or it's just free without insurance?

Hi all,
Just thought I'd introduce myself. Trying to conceive #1 aged 35. Currently on CD17. I don't chart as I'm kind of new to this. Managed to BD cd 7, 9, 12, 14. Hate this two week wait!!!

Welcome! GL with your TWW! I agree it is excruciating! I'm 12dpo and haven't tested yet. No real signs of feeling prego though so I'll just wait till AF shows her ugly face.. I'm just happy it hasn't come yet! My last few cycles my LP was only 11 dpo so vitex is working!

Hi Fleur, I am here on and off. I am waiting to start my next cycle. I had a hysteroscopy with polypectomy done this cycle so it is hard predict when my next cycle might start. I did do opks and have been temping, I am on dpo 14 today so I should be starting my cycle to today or tomorrow hopefully; temps went up today though not sure. We were not able to try this month so I know that isn't it lol

I have alternated between being hopeful and fearful lol having the procedure done definitely found hopefully the one and only reason we haven't conceived and we will get our BFP soon. However, my cycles were getting different with spotting and being only 24 days long, so that worries me. I have tried to spend less time thinking about it so haven't been on here much.

Hoping for my period to start soon! I haven't had that feeling in 15 months so it is a little new to me again to hope for it. lol

Question: I haven't been tracking temps, but I am thinking of going to buy a BBT thermometer today. My biggest problem with it is that I don't wake up at the same time every day. I work 4 days a week and on those days, I get up way early. But, I usually sleep in on my days off (as in several hours later). So I'm not sure if could get an accurate reading. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks everyone:hugs:

Yes it was truely bad timing but not entirely unexpected since they've warned lay offs for the last 2 weeks. We were hoping DH wasn't going to be one of them but there you go:dohh: Truely bad timing. I've told him we need to stay in Denmark since assisted conception is free here so he's going to use the first 3-4 months to apply in Denmark only. He's also going to be asking around in his network if they can help or know anyone. Networking is kinda important here and while it's much more important when you're newly educated, can help you as an experienced person get a job quicker. There was a company interested in him some months ago so he's going to try them first but it's not for sure they have any positions for him at the moment. And extremly many companies refuse to accept unsolicited applications since they receive so many so that's not an option:nope:

The only good thing is he was starting to get boring projects so on that account, he might be able to find something more exciting. But it would've been better if he could've applied while he was working. He won't be allowed back after the end of the month so he'll be able to concentrate completely on writing applications. Since companies shy away from unemployed people, I've told him she should accept his boss' offer to write him a recommendation so future employers can see he wasn't fired because he was being impossible or doing a poor job, it was simply because they needed to save Money and cut his job.

But you can bet I feel extra horrible not having a job now because then we could've relied on that for a while if it takes him more than 8 months. But nothing to be done now:shrug: It's not my fault biotech companies refuse to hire newly-educated without connections, especially if they're female and in their child-bearing years although they of course never say it outright but it's pretty obvious:growlmad:

As to your question Twinsie: In Denmark it's only free if you've been trying for at least 12 months on your own so you get a referral. Those 12 months are no matter if your 22 or 32 or 42. No referral = you pay for it yourself if you don't want to wait to get it. But it's only if you're trying for baby #1, for #2 or more you pay for it yourself. There's in principle an unlimited number of free IUI tries but they never do more than 6 anyway. After that there's 3 free IVF tries. If none of that works, you start paying for it yourself if you want to keep trying. Hormones you always pay for yourself though.

Health insurance is free here although you pay a certain fee every 3 months (depends on what group you want to be in) if you want extra help to pay e.g. for dentist bills and prescription drugs. The higher the group, the higher amount you pay to be a member but also results in they help you pay for a higher amount of these types of bills. I'm in the cheapest group but it still helps:shrug:

But since infertility is seen as a disease here, they pay for the 6 IUIs and 3 IVF tries. As said, the only cost is the hormones.

Hi girls! I definitely still lurk, even though my heart just isn't in the TTC game right now. My goal in creating this thread was to provide a supportive place for ladies over 30, and I'm so pleased that this thread has gained so many lovely ladies! <3 thank you to those of you who keep it up and going.

Nothing really to report here. Just trying to finish graduate school and get on with life! My doctor did say we can shoot for June to start up TTC again, but I may wait until after I graduate (July 31st).

I've been keeping up with all of you and am continually sending you :dust: and positive baby vibes!! Love you guys!

dede, thanks for updating us. I can relate to being impatient for your period to start after struggling for so long, hopefully your chances will be much higher now after the procedure.

TexMel, I’m far from an expert and haven’t been doing it the way I’m supposed to, but you’re apparently supposed to take your temp at the same time every day, give or take half an hour. Could you put an alarm when you’re not working and then go back to sleep? I’ve been taking my temps anytime between 3 am and 8 am so they’re not very accurate but I suppose they do give a general idea of whether my temps are rising or falling.

Kat, don’t feel guilty, it’s not for lack of trying that you haven’t got a job. Your DH should definitely get a recommendation from his boss. Hope he’ll find an even more enjoyable job soon.

Hollyness, it’s good to see you! I’m sure this thread has been immensely helpful to lots of ladies, as it has been to me. June/July will be here very quickly! How are you doing with the diet and insulin etc?

I have a little confession to make : Fertility Friend told me I could test so I did just to get it out of the way and out of my mind, I was shocked to get a faint BFP as we didn’t really try properly this month. I am absolutely not getting my hopes because it’s still very early, I have ZERO symptoms and the line on the BFP was faint. DH is being more optimistic but I’m just expecting the worst honestly. We’ll see.

Fleur!!!! OMG that's great! I hope that line keeps getting darker and I will be praying for a sticky little bean for you!

Yay Fleur! It's really hard to get a false positive, right? I'm sure it'll get darker in the days to come! They always say it happens in the months you try/think about it the least!

No it isn't but I feel guilty anyway. What makes it even worse is DH's little brother very recently got a job although he did have some experience but it wasn't completely related to what he'll be doing now. So makes me look like an incompetent fool to DH's whole family:dohh: It's a completely other field mind you, in music while I'm biotech but still:nope: I don't know, guess I should've stuck with chemistry (I started taking a Bachelor's in chemistry then changed 3/4 of the way to a Master's in biotech because A) it interested me more and B) I though it would be much easier to get a job with a Master's than a Bachelor's) and just taken my Bachelor's, might've had an easier time finding something but it's water under the bridge now:dohh: At least I'm not alone. I forgot to mention my job coach has an aquiantance in the biotech field who's retired that she talked to about me. He says he know about a great deal many talented, newly educated engineers in biotech (like me) that can't get a job in the biotech field and end up working in a totally unrelated field. I'm assuming the vast majority had a helpful Network that helped them get a job though in the field they are in now, my netowrk is unfortunately filled with either people with no useful network or people who are too selfish to help and feel it's my problem:nope:

Oh wow Fleur, I hope it's a sticky bean, do you have a pic:happydance: I don't think lack of symptoms should worry you. Many women don't get many symptoms or any at all until after they've gotten their BFP.

Thanks Praying and TexMel. I’ve had some pinkish/brown discharge after gym today, although I only walked on the treadmill and did some light weights (arms), so I'm stressing out. It’s my birthday on Sunday, hope it’s not going to be an awful day.

Kat, I'm sure DH's family doesn't look down on you, they must know how hard you've tried to find a job, and that your field is particularly hard to get into without a network. After you've had the baby you can start thinking about training again or volunteering with animals as you wanted to. :hugs:

HI there! Yes, I am. 34 and DH who is 40 and I have been TTC #1 on and off (mostly on, with some breaks or separate travel which made BD in the window impossible) since May 2014. It took us a few months to really pinpoint timing and for me to use Preseed instead of reg. lube. So, I'd say roughly 5-6 real cycles TTC. No BFPs and I am a big believer in trying things the natural way and leaving it up to fate (with good timing and trying to skew it a bit in our favor). So, we had basic checkups (pap and some bloodwork which all came back normal so my MDs have said it's just a matter of time, nothing about my cycles and bbt charts signal concerns, either. DH got a sperm analysis which came back only 1% below average on motility and morphology but his count was off the charts. I recently got some annoyed responses from women who did extensive fertility testing pretty much right away and seem to think I am wrong not to. Well, I seek medical help for numerous other things and they just don't get it... I don't want to hear another thing is wrong until I feel ready to deal with it should that be the case. Anyway.......... waiting to O. All bodily signs point to soon but I am still getting -OPK. I'm on CD12 and usually I O 13-14. FX I get a temp dip and +OPK sometime between tomorrow and Sunday. Camping this weekend so that will be a nice distraction AND optimal, fun BD setting ;) How are you all doing today? :dust: to all.
