Hi Ladies.....wow Sarah, I thought Leo was A BIGGIE! Oscars gonna be a chunky monkey!
How is everyone and their LO's coping in this weather? Oh its awful here, sticky and humid...poor Leo doesnt know what to do with himself and if I change my underwear again it will be the 10th time today LMAO!

Update on Leo, he's also on the baby rice at his tea time feed. Ive taken this step due to him not being satisfied on the reflux milk but not being able to put him on hungry baby as they dont do it It does its job though (stops reflux) so I wont take him off it, hence the rice. He's had it twice now and really likes it! Hes also cut out his 11 pm feed too, so hoping this routine stays this way for a while!
Ive also made the decision to change Leo over to cloth nappies after reading the 'ask a mum' thread. Me and Oh talked about it and decided it would be a good idea, so his credit card is now nearly £400 lighter But they last until hes potty trained so I should never have to buy another nappy, plus its better for babies bum IMHO.

alex is a warm baby anyway but has had a nasty heat rash so has been in his vest for the last two days but seems to be getting better now.

Leo's been a grouch all day and hes taken to sucking his fist! If he could get his whole hand in there I think he would chew it right off!

Hows the weaning going Jaqui? I had to give Oscar his rice this morning today as he had 2 x 9oz bottles and was still hungry, I made him wait 3 hours for a feed after his rice and would only give him water and when i did feed him he still had 13oz's of sma hungrier baby milk all this was before midday, I think i should have started weaning earlier as he wants loads and a few teaspoons of rice just aint cutting the mustard! my little man wants steak and chips! how much is leo taking? xx

she said he was 62cm's yday but me and oh measured him and he was 67cm not sure now I would of thought top of head to flat foot right maybe she's just a loon and really he is an average 55cm's and 10lbs now xxx

I give Leo his at his 5 pm feed before his bottle, but I have to time it right cos if he starts screaming for his bottle he wont take the rice. He ate about a tablesppon full today, only because he was soooo enjoying it! He would have taken more but Imnot up for that yet! He then took a 5 oz bottle and promptly feel asleep. He usually has a 6 oz bottle at around 8/9 but hes still flat out in his cosy

Try giving him a tablesppon or so, certainly seems to be ok with Leo. x

I think it depends on what type/brand you buy. Ive been following the ask a mum thread which is all about cloth diapering this week and got some really good advice on brands/types etc. I cant wait to start tomorrow!

was thinking i might try 2 smaller baby rice feeds and seeing if that does the trick, he had about 10 spoons yday (HV said 1-2) and about 15 today (oops) you really would have to live with Oscar to believe it. he's the most hungry baby ive ever met in my life... period. seems like you have cracked leo and good on you, my HV hasnt even got kids i'm battling the fine balance of keeping my hungry baby satisfied and getting approval from my HV, I know its not the end of the world what the HV thinks but I wouldnt want to be arrogant enough that i think i know better (even if i think i do lol) xx

Awww no, on a serious note, cant you try feed thickeners? He would then not take as much milk but still be full? Has nobody recommended this to you? I would get the doc/hv's advice on this though as im not sure if you can buy it or is prescription only.
You could try 2 rice feeds as he is obviously getting enough milk! Just make them small for the first few weeks though so as not to overload his little digestive system. Maybe one in the morning and one in the evening and say 1-2 teaspoons full.....? I dont know what else to suggest hun, other than go with what you feel is best for your baby.

The latter is exactly what i was thinking. Feed Thickener? I have never heard of that ill go google it and see what i can find out sometimes I just wish I had given birth to a 7lb baby who would be happy to be weaned at 6 months when ready 'sigh'

How are you all doing ? Jacqui/Sarah well done on the weaning if there hungry babies thats good i reckon better than a baby not ever putting on weight!

I thought Ridley was going to be the same and i would be weaning him very quickly but as it happens he has really settled on the C&G comfort and takes 4 bottles in the day then his night feed! xx

Hope all is well ... lost 4lbs this week.... so pleased half a stone in 2weeks, how is eveyone doing with there diets if there on one ? x

Hello april mums,

I think I have pnd, I've been so down for a week now. I cried yesterday for an hour after my local pool was closed. *sigh*

UH sarah you love your big baby and have a secret sense of pride I know I loved fact my baby was 9lb 4.5oz, hehe. and followed a very similar pattern to oscar. At first I felt a bit cheated cos everyone had these tiny babies, but soon grew to love the fact he was sooo sturdy!

Olivia was 7lb 3oz at birth and she's ready for weening now, she had a good appetite, she loves watching food, and now as two 8oz bottles and two 7 oz bottles and sometimes an extra 3-4 oz come evening. She's also had some spoonfuls of babyfood come evening time inbetween bottles too, she loves the taste! She was weighed on weds and is 13lb 13oz now, so last two weeks she's slowed a little but we'll see what she does next.

anyway hope all is well ladies about the meet if it's the first week in aug can we make it the tuesday seeing as no one else had managed to arrange a set day.
