BD House Photo Challenge

I was going to post a pic I took of DH from behind, but he's still very identifiable, even when you can't see his face, so I decided not to post it. (I have another one that I really want to post that I took of him in downtown Nashville that looks like it came out of a magazine, but he's smiling right at the camera, so it's out.)

Instead, I will post a picture of my Granny and Papaw (dad's parents) that was taken when they first started dating. I think it was in the early 50's. I LOVE this picture!

Granny is still alive, but Papaw passed away in 2005 at 72.

Bonus:

A few years later, they got to take this awesome picture of my dad wearing Papaw's military combat boots:

What a gorgeous couple GP! It's a lovely pic.

Lilly: that man was a cutie as a wee one!

@GP: your family is super adorable, too!

Loving all the photos today. Muchos love.

Ok so after I was banging on about respecting deadlines, it's 0038 here so I'm late! We got home later than expected.

Here is DH blowing out the candles on his cake at about 10pm as it was getting dark. My crappy camera has worked out quite well as DH remains pretty incognito x

Off to bed! Busy day tomorrow (DHs actual bday)

So for today instead of trying to get a candid yet artsy photo of hubs I'm just going to post these cause they're cute:

My pup and I crusin' the beach and harbor on my beach cruiser on the 4th

And my snuggle pile with the pup and my oldest baby, he sleeps on my neck for whatever reason

I like that its a photo of a photo... :)

Sorry, I'm in the pic AGAIN! This is yours truly sat on the wall of our front garden when I was.... Hmm........ Maybe 4 or 5? The garden always used to be full of lovely flowers and during the summer we were always outside.

My sister and me, dressed up for Halloween. She was a fortune teller; I was Supergirl. For some reason, I insisted on wearing tap shoes. I can't remember why.

@Moo: awww! Cutie! Just wanna pinch those cheeks!!!

@texas: luv your super tap-dance powers!

I should have captioned that - my brother and I playing with a life-sized nutcracker. The best part of this time frame is my awful hair cut and wardrobe. My mom cut off all my hair (a la "pageboy") and then dressed me in all my brother's hand-me-downs. Don't think it was gender disappointment that I was a girl, just didn't see a need to buy other clothes, but it really looked like we were two little boys.

I am loving the baby / child photos. You are all cutie pies!

My crappy camera strikes again. Coincidentally, on childhood memory photo day, I happen to be at my mums house. Just a one night stop over on my way to a work event. I went out into the garden to get this shot when I got back but it was already dark - big love to my mum who helped with the torch! This is my hand print on our patio - my Dad must have made that patio when I was 7 or 8 or something like that, I remember it vividly (it was a big job and a really hot summer) and he left a space for him, my mum, my brother and me to put our hand prints in the concrete. Happy days :)

I drew this in kindergarten. I actually still remember drawing it! It was near Halloween, and the assignment was to draw and write what we were going to be for Halloween. The scan is kind of small (original artwork is now lost), but it says: "I am gowing to be a lin for halowen and my perents ar goig wit me. - Hailey". Then, the teacher decoded what I was actually trying to write as "I am going to be a lion for Halloween, and my parents are going with me." :haha:

Apparently my mother was going to be a witch, my father was going to wear a race-car shirt, and my nephew was going to be a fireman.

If that doesn't work, here's me as a toddler with some bunnies at a mini-golf/petting zoo place:

This is me at my Grandma's house with her dog, Trixie. This picture brings so many memories to mind.

1. The dress I'm wearing is one that my grandma made for me and I loved it so much and always wanted to wear it so one time I wanted to wear it but I'd been walking around the house holding my arm bent for days because I'd gotten a shot and was afraid to move my arm (in case I'd feel the needle) so my mom said if I wanted to wear it I had to straighten my arm. I did. But I still hate needles. :haha: Also, I still have the matching ribbon to the dress.

2. Trixie was an awesome dog, she was trained to close the door behind her when she came in, she would balance her toy on her nose until you told her she could have it and she would run to the gate to look for me when my grandma said I was coming over. She had a stroke just days after my grandma died. It was my first day of a new school and the day after we moved into grandma's house because my parents had just divorced. Before I left for school I pet her while her eyes were rolling around in her head and told her I loved her and that I'd take care of her, she was put down before I got home from school. Talk about traumatic!

3. My mom still lives in this house but we've been through so much shit in it that I like seeing it like it was when it was still a happy place. It was my favorite place in the whole world, I can even remember the texture of the drapes.

I love everyones pics so much! I think this might be my favorite challenge thus far!

My grandma had a store, and I swore I worked there. I got paid (paid myself) in Pepsi and Mexican Pan Dulce (sweet bread)...
Judge me not! This was pre-Paleo diet ok!
