Beach Bump Graduates!

Oh yes the comfort sucking! I'm a bit sore today too - she just loves falling asleep sucking! I struggle to get annabelle to take the bottle but I make sure I do it before bed with the gaviscon as then at least she has a slightly longer sleep in the night. I can't give it to her though my husband has to, if I try she ignores it and just wants to BF. I love BF though as I feel so close to her. I also tried using a syringe to administer the gaviscon and she spat it out. I also tried mixing it with water like they say on the packet and she wouldn't take it. If only they could understand it would help. At least she will take one expressed bottle per day!

Hi everyone :)

Hann- that's a lovely site- there's some beautiful pics of Annabelle on there, plus got to see your lovely MIL!

Jenni- sorry you had to listen to little Max crying- I'm sure it was forgotten quickly :hugs: and I'n sure no-one would ever judge you for your decision- please don't feel like you should explain yourself- we're all friends here :)

Caz- I can't really offer much advice on the poo, just what everyone else has said really. Hope you are all doing well and Ajay's letting you get some sleep!

Welcome Lea- sorry to hear you're having reflux problems, I agree about trying the gaviscon in a bottle of EBM or formula.

Amanda- I'm still following your re-lactation, you're going great!

Gw- Hailey sounds like she's gaining well. I hope you get better soon :hugs: LOL though at your son's gross comment! Kids 'eh?!

BV- Did you look that evil fighter thingy (I can't remember what it was now?) up online? What did it say?

I'm glad we all have babies who want to sleep on mummy and it's not just mine! :hugs: for tired mummies all round!

Lovey pic of Daniel Starry! I always loose posts too! So annoying!

Simmy- does Leo settle better on the formula or is he about the same on both? That's a lovely pic on FB btw- is that your dad with Leo?

I'm jealous of all the expressing! I can never express more than about....4-5oz- that's pumping both too! I have a manual pump and it's soul destroying lol!

We are in the middle of a growth spurt so I am currently in zombie mode- it feels like Naomi is drinking my energy! We have weigh-in Monday, I'm hoping she's gained a lot so it'll all be worth it! :)

Welcome Lea, i've definitely seen you around! I'm Simmy. And well done on also having a Leo - best name for a Leo star sign baby! Sorry i can't help with the reflux but seems other girls know better.

Doods thanks for the comments on the picture - it's my elder cousin Neal with Leo - we went over to visit him today. Fingers crossed that N has gained weight - surely she must have with all that feeding?!

Yes Leo does settle slightly better on the formula, or should I say he settles for LONGER. I think that's because I still have supply issues... when i pump I only get a max of 50 mls (around 2oz) from both sides. I think he's not getting enough from me, hence me pumping like hell to try and get supply up. I can't have him on the boob loads as I get very sore (the latch is fine but i still get sore). Hence I'm also following Amanda's relactation story!

Hann - love the website, i might try it too! Seems less maintenance than a journal... Also was it you that ordered cards through Jack & Jill? I just ordered some too (the blue animals design). Have you received them yet and were you happy with them?

Speaking of poos why does AJay decide that the 3.30 feed is the best time to do his poo?I have just changed him and now he is doing the biggest poo!!!

Also hubbie and I are getting really irritable with each other the last couple of days. Think it's the lack of sleep. Ajay is so noisey when he sleeps that he keeps us both awake. I'm sure it will pass but I worry that we are both tired and short with each other.

Man am sooooo tired. Off to do nappy change then praying for sleep!!! x

Caz I've noticed me and Paul getting short with each other too. It'd def related to the lack of sleep... Feel horrible about it though. :(

Congrats on your little one being 3 weeks Samzi!

Simmy - I hate us getting ratty with each other. The first 3-4 weeks we were fine but this week we seem to have been getting on each others nerves for no reason and I feel horrible. Have woken up today and as it's our last day together before he goes to work tomorrow, I'm going to make a real effort to be patient and not get on his nerves so that we can enjoy the day together! Glad it's not just me though!!!

Today we have an engagement party for some wonderful friends of ours so we're off to theirs this afternoon. Also a chance for Ajay to meet more of our friends so he will be a popular boy!

Doodle, I looked up the evil eye thing and it's interesting. I'm not superstitious, so I don't believe in it, but it's an interesting cultural belief:

Also, don't worry, I can't express much either even with a decent electric pump. It's a good day when I can get 4oz.

Yesterday flew by and all we did was chores and then dinner with the in-laws. I hate it when the weekend goes by so fast. I did e-mail a lady from La Leche League about Jill's constant feeding and she said it's likely she'll grow out of it. She said at this stage they digest the milk so fast that they want more. I get lots of wet and dirty diapers so I'm thinking she's getting enough food. Plus, she's putting on more chub. If anyone is interested I can post part of her reply. I'm going to try going to a meeting at the end of the month for ideas and to meet other local moms. I really need to have a good support system, otherwise I'm going to go stir crazy in the house feeding all day. At least she sleeps every 1-4hrs at night.

Simmy, I can relate regarding the crankiness. My husband and I get grumpy at each other too. We usually catch each other doing it and make a joke out of it.

Going back to sleep for a bit. Hope she'll let me :)

hey im another mummy whos lo wants to sleep on them. he sleeps fine in the mosses basket during the day but come to night he just wants to be on my chest.

thankfully he seems to be on the mend from or trip to th hospital and is much happier now.

Hey short post as balancing reply with one hand on iPhone!
But good news..... Annsbelle slept from 11.45am - 5.15am - yes 5.5 hours! Then slept 6am - 7am then from
7.45am - 10am!! I have had sleep!! Both Greg and I needed it badly and we have both had it and feel refreshed. What a good girl! She prob won't do it again but how good would it be if she did?!

Simmy - the cards were good, nice quality and people really liked getting them.

Doods - hope you had a better sleep

Bv - ibteresting what the la leche said - I'd be interested in the reply. Thanks!

Samzi - yay for 3 weeks!

Caz - yes we had a few cross words yesterday. Once about skyping his mother and once when she then called and woke me up at my only nap time and ge was meant to be on duty so should hAve answered the phone. Silly things but when you are tired you just snap! Hoping now we have had sleep we will both be happier!
Have a great time at the party!

Okay that wasn't such a short post!!

Topaz, very cute baby photos! Looking forward to seeing more :)

Hann, great news about finally getting some decent sleep. Jill slept 4hrs, then 1hr, and now has been spitting up like crazy...I didn't know she had that much in her tiny stomach. Here is the reply from that lady at La Leche League:

"Some babies do eat more frequently than others, especially in the first 6-8 weeks. Their systems are so immature and they digest milk so quickly that they seem to always be hungry! Also, some babies need what seems like a lot of "practice time". This pattern is usually just fine and not an issue unless the baby is not gaining well. Has your daughter had weight checks and is her weight steadily increasing? How about wet and dirty diapers? Could you tell me what her pattern is?

You are right that some babies do seem to need to nurse a lot of for comfort as well as food and breastfeeding sure does provide both! It gets the baby picked up and close to mom-just where she wants to be! I wonder if you have ever consider wearing her in a carrier or sling between feedings? Some moms with babies like yours find that the baby is often just as content being close to mom as she is nursing and would be very happy snuggled up next to mom while she moves around doing housework, going for a walk, etc.

I know it seems like right now all you do is nurse, but I just wanted to tell you that things will get easier as she gets older. It is amazing how quickly babies change and their behaviors and needs change as well. In other words, this won't last for ever!!"

Hann - ditto on typing with 1 hand! I have a sleeping Ajay again in one hand!!

Well done Annabelle - what a good girl!!! 5.5 hours is bliss, I hope this is the start of a night time routine for her!!

xx

Thanks for the email BV, it's actually really helpful and reassuring!

Hann :happydance: Yay for the sleep! It must make such a huge difference, I think you have been one of the most sleep-deprived of us all and you've been doing fantastically with the BF. You definitely deserved it :flower:

Topaz... Wow, the pictures are beautiful!

Paul and I tried our hand at some DIY photos yesterday but Leo cried throughout! And we got the lighting a bit wrong, so we could do a lot better. Anyway here's the result - we used these for the birth announcement cards...

we've been on the treatment a week and my thrush is a lot better (feeding still hurts but not swearing and crying sore). Cameron's mouth looks a bit better, definitely stopped the thrush worsening, but it's not gone as much as I would have hoped. I'm also on fluconazole as hv and gp both thought it sounded like it was in my breat tissue. The thrush nappy rash has gone now so it must be getting better.

Thanks for pasting the LLL reply, sometimes it's really hard to cope with feeding constantly, esp when richard is out and I can't do things like go to the loo or get food as Cameron's constantly attached and screams if put down.
As for grumpiness with each other, we're doing that too (me more than dh tbh) I'll need to dig out the list I was given by my friend on how to babyproof relationship. If I remember rightly the first one was to accept that housework would suffer!
Loving all the baby pics. We have ordered thank you postcards from photobox with this image on it (also have his full name, dob and weight photoshopped on)

Good that you don't have the horrible symptoms! Are you treating your nipples anyway? I've heard you can have it without symptoms and pass it back and forward if you aren't both treated (I'm assuming you're bf'ing, if not my comments irrelevant!)

ooh that relationship advice list would be handy fifi! lovely pic too x
