Beach Bump Graduates!

Caz :hugs: I couldn't have said it better than Hann, I truly think you are a fab mummy and I'm sorry you're feeling down, but please don't hesitate to post about it here, i don't mind hearing about it at all, and if a problem shared helps at all then we are here to listen...

Karen welcome back, nice to hear from you and i'm sorry to hear you have suffered too. :hugs:

Hann, that's amazing that annabelle has learned to do her poos on the potty, i'm so glad it's sorted the problem out. What do you do when you're out and about if she needs a poo? just wondering...

Mel - that is FAB weight loss, well done! Naughty H for smearing things on the carpet. Leo loves to scribble on walls and sofas, naughty boy. I can only say that we will have to stop ourselves buying nice things until they are old enough to learn!

Well i'm just sat here waiting for sophia to finish farting and pooing before i change her nappy - quelle glamour! Thanks for asking Caz she is ok now, she's just a regular screaming pooing sleeping baby :) She will need some follow up tests to check her hearing etc but i think she'll be fine.

We had a fabulous day yesterday for Leo's birthday - our friends were here til late and put their kids to bed upstairs so we could drink away til late... Paul's mum and dad were staying and were superstars - they put leo to bed and dealt with sophia so paul and i could get drunk!! Was sooo nice to relax and get tipsy. The weather was great all day and then pelted down with rain and storms in the evening, but we kind of didn't mind by that point.

Hi all! Sorry I've not been on for a few days, we went away at the weekend. I'm just catching up now!

Hiya Karen! Did you have a good Birthday? Sorry to hear you suffer with PND too :( :hugs: Are you on meds for it?

:hugs: Caz. I agree with the others, you're a great mum! Don't feel bad about posting here about it too. We're here to listen! :)

How are the classes going Hann? It sounds really good! They do bootcamp classes here but they're all at awkward times so I can't really go until Naomi starts nursery. I'm starting a new yoga class in September though which I'm excited about.
That's fab about Annabelle using the potty! :D

Glad Leo had a good birthday Simmy! And also pleased to hear you got to relax and have a few drinks too :D

Mel how was the course? I did Indian head massage at college, it was really good! :D
Sounds like the running's going well. 5K's brilliant! :D

I love all of those names SB! Halfway already!!! So exciting!!! Is Katie excited?!

Sorry for the rushed post, it is hectic with them both at home! :D

Where did you go away to Maria, think I saw some pics on Facebook, looked lovely!

Argh soooo tired today, Sophia was up 3 times in the night to feed, I guess she's having a growth spurt as I couldn't get the milk in fast enough. She's having 5-6 oz every 2-3 hours which is insane!

Hann, great news about the potty, hope last night was good too!

Simmy glad Leo had a lovely birthday, at least the weather held off most of the day!

Caz, hope you are ok hun, are you at work at the moment?

Maria, where did you go on hols? Yes the indian head massage was great thanks, really enjoyed it!

Karen, nice to hear from you.

AFM, All ok Harrison has realised hes 2 now and acting like a terrible 2 year old, hes also waking up at 50 every day, has anyone got one of those gro clocks? Im thinking of getting one to try.
We are going to a little birthday party this afternoon, hope the showers stop, and im so tired!

Hi girls,

Mel I've got friends who swear by gro clocks! Some come with a book I've heard and explain how they work - we've not got one but I've heard they're good.

Simmy your weekend sounds awesome! So wonderful to have some drinks too! Hope Sophia sleeps better tonight.

Maria can't wait to hear about your hols!

Han annabelle is so grown up doing her poo on te potty. Hopefully it will help her as well which is great!

Ok here - working hard, big meetings at work tomorrow but Neel is being lovely and looking after me. We should be home for the weekend which would be amazing. Thank you all for your lovely sweet words. I'm tryin to keep positive xxxx

So excited for you to be back at home caz! hopefully that will make a difference to how you're feeling. Glad neel is being great too. Hope your big meeting went well.

Mel we have a gro clock but haven't got around to using it yet, it's in leo's room but we havent bothered to set it or anything! If he wakes early we basically just ignore him for as long as we can and let him trash his room. He does ask for us and we talk to him on the monitor and tell him to go back to sleep. Sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't, but he sort of knows that we're not going to come and get him if it's too early... However this morning he was yelling, "mummy, i done poo poo, change nappy!" so i couldn't really ignore that lol!

We just went to a place near East Grinstead for a couple of nights- keeps the children happy lol! We're going away (in the tent) again in a couple of weeks near Brighton- might as well make the most of the warm weather, I'm certainly not camping in the cold! :D

I haven't used a Gro clock Mel but some friends of mine have and got on quite well with them- got to be worth a go if there's a chance it could help? Naomi's been up a lot in the night recently too- I'm shattered!

Thinking of you Caz, hope your work meetings aren't too hectic. That would be good if you could be home for the weekend! :D

LOL Simmy that's so sweet that Leo was calling you! (although probably didn't feel like it first thing in the morning lol!)
How is Sophia now? Sounds like she's growing fast with all those feeds!- they grow up too quickly!

Rubbish weather here today so we went out and splashed in the puddles for a bit, got halfway through the woods and Naomi did a poo and started to look very tired so we came home. The weather is set to improve luckily so we can get back to not having to plan our days around the weather! :D

I was thinking of getting a gro clock too Mel, I've heard great thing about them!

Maria - your mini break sounds lovely! I know what you mean about the rain and things to do. At least when it's not raining we can pop them out in the garden!

Simmy - I am with you on the exhaustion and rubbish sleep. Finally Annabelle is getting back on track but Henry is still waking twice which is frustrating especially as the second wake up is at 5.30am and by the time I have him asleep Annabelle is waking up, so in general I'm up at 5.30! Today I feel awful and I'm literally forcing myself to go to my class tonight as don't want to let my friend down but I'm so tired I have no idea how I'll do it! Think I am really run down too as have a sore throat.
Henry has also been awake most if the day so is over tired and screaming. I've tired everything to get him back to sleep but nothing's working. He's also bobbing on and off when he feeds, thought it was because he wasn't hungry but it can't be so now I'm having to hold his head in place and its fine if I do that but if I don't he bobs!

Also decided to sell my tandem buggy, not even used it but decided it too long! Put it on ebay for £225 which I think is a good price, really hope someone buys it niw! Have 2 watchers but that can mean nothing! Think I'll get a maclaren double. Actually Mel - what was yours and is it any good?

Hi ladies!

Thanks for the info re gro clocks, Ive ordered one via john lewis for £19.50, a good price as i thoughht they were much more than that!

Maria, glad you had a lovely mini break! We have one planned for Oct, we are going to a Haven park, in a caravan and our friends are going too so should be fun, we did think we were going to have to cancel as Alans shifts are changing again but hes confirmed today we can go so yay for that!

Caz, so glad Neel is looking after you, keep your chin up girl, isnt it Aug you are starting to TTC? Will be so great to get back in your own house!

Simmy! Hows the section recovery going? has the pain gone now? Unfortunatly for us we cant just leave H in his room as he isnt shut in and just comes in our room. Its quite cute as he brings his slippers and lines our slippers up on the bed for us before he actually wakes us, but arrghhh just wish it was a bit later. Anything after six i can deal with but a 5 on the clock just looks so WRONG!

Hann, its funny you should mention your tandem, we too have decided to sell ours due to non use, Im so glad we only paid £100 for it instead of £600 which was what i was looking at! We are gonna get a lightweight side by side pushchair, im looking at them 2nd hand but OBaby do a quite nice one which is cheap, dont want to spend a lot. Oh and we have a safety 1st duo, its a good tandem, but like i said hardly been used.

So all ok here, boys have been good today, Lucas has all of a sudden grown up, hes like a proper little boy now and such a happy one! We got the car walker out and jumperoo and he has sat in both and loved them, he doesnt like being in the swing much now as likes to be upright unless hes tired. I also got him a lamaze tummytime mat has anyone seen them? its a mat with a spinning seat you lie them on tummy down and they can spin themselves around the mat and play with the attached toys. Its really cute i wish id had one with H as he used to hate tummytime.
We are taking Lucas and Harrison swimming in the morning, its the 1st time Lucas has been, hope he likes it! Him and Harrison are really interacting now Lucas loves his older brother, its so cute. Love my boys!!

Oh dear, ive decided i want THIS!

Mel - link didn't work but i assume you mean the out and about nipper (saw on fb!), i've seen it and it looks good! We have the babyjogger city select which i haven't used yet but it's not as long as some of the other ones so i am hoping it will be ok. I only plan to use it on the odd occasion but like you say mel i think i'll need it when i need to contain leo in one place! Aah how cute at harrison giving you your slippers, bless him. Oh and section recovery is much better thanks - i'm 4.5 weeks in, and I think finally it stopped hurting on week 3. I'm still trying to avoid lifting heavy things, will just give it another couple of weeks before I get my fitness back on track. I am sooo weak and unfit at the moment, not least because I spent most of my pregnancy sick on the sofa...

Hann i totally sympathise - have been up since 5 - sophia fed at 11.30, 2.30, and 5.30 and she's still awake and full of beans. And now Leo is awake (am doing the usual ignoring). It takes me an hour to feed sophia and settle/burp her so i'm only getting 2 hours in between feeds, it's like torture!! And I have to take her downstairs to feed her and change her nappy as otherwise her crying wakes Leo up, so i really hardly have any time in bed at all :(

Caz, how are you today, day off today right? Hope you have a lovely day with ajay.

Maria, very cute that you go out and splash in puddles with N!

I called the nursery yesterday and have asked for Leo to now do 3 full days a week. It's going to cost a fortune but i need to do it at least while sophia's not sleeping that well. At least i can get some rest while she's sleeping that way. He was previously doing 2 full days and 2 half days, but now his naps are a bit hit and miss, i decided that the half days were not that useful as by the time i'd dropped him it was time to pick him up again. I do feel a bit bad sticking him in for three days as i really want to spend time with him, but I guess i can pull him out when sophia is more settled...

I'm also really annoyed with paul as he has 2 weekends away, this weekend and next weekend, to go and see the cricket (the ashes) with his friends. He booked it ages ago way before sophia was born, but he knew we'd have a newborn baby! I understand he wants t see his friends and the ashes are only here every 4 years but i think it's still a bit unfair of him, especially to go twice!

Simmy I can totally sympathise on the fact that its knackering, especially with Leo/Annabelle. I am looking forward to her starting preschool in sept. I know that will only give me 3 mornings a week but I'll take anything right now!! Henry was up at 1, 3.30 and then couldn't get him back to sleep, in the end Greg slept with him and I went in the spare room as I'm not feeling well and needed sleep. Think i have a bug as have a really sore tight throat, headache, exhausted and my ears are hurtung a bit too. Its probably my fault he didn't settle as I took his swaddle off and really hes too big for the moses so he was bashing the sides and getting upset. I think we need to move him into his room so he can go into his cotbed.

Mel - thats a nice buggy! Expensive though! I just bought this one:
https://www.mothercare.com/OBaby-Apollo-Twin-Black-Stroller---Turquoise-Hood/564740,default,pd.html

However got it on the baby outlet for £89.99 as it was on sale because someone had returned it and the box was damaged. The next cheapest I could find it was £125 so its a bargain. I think I'll use it a fair bit for local journeys to the park and shops just to keep annabelle contained. No just have to sell the other one but hopefully we'll get a taker on ebay!

Better go, henry is waking up....

Glad greg helped out a bit hann... i feel like i'm coming down with something too, this weird weather doesn't help as i have been drenched a few times while out and about. I'm sure all we both need to feel better is a good night's sleep but that doesn't sound likely does it!!

Good bargain on the buggy - it looks nice! I wish i could get a side by side but i looked into it and our front doorway is really too narrow, so it's pointless if i can't get it in the house.

Did anyone have a good swing or vibrating chair for their babies? We have a couple of bouncers but sophia seems to really need constant movement, and i'm finding it hard to carry her around the whole time - she doesn't like any of my slings either! I might pop to the nearest sling library on monday to try out some different ones, but ideally i would like to put her down. Any recommendations for chairs?

We have a mamaroo one - they retail at £200ish but we got one on that preloved.co.uk site for £100 pick up only. It was barely used and in the box still. We are going to sell it on again when we are done and make our money back. They have a fab re sell value. They give constant movement, take a look!

Just had someone ask me a question about the buggy!! Hoping it sells and the carrycot. Whole thing makes me laugh as the lengths I went through to get a carrycot and now I'm selling them both without using them! I just think a side by side will be much better for us. Thankfully we have a big front door. I'm looking forward to it arriving!

Just had a nap on the sofa while annabelle watched 2 mr tumbles - she loves that show!! Henry is asleep in his bed for the first time. I think he will be in there from now on! Might give us a bit more sleep too I hope as we won't wake at his every noise. He's only going to be in the next room too so not far.

looks good hann did/do your babies both like it?

Think henry will sleep well in his cot. We had Leo in his cot at 6 weeks and he was so much happier. He was just too big for the moses basket by then. Tbh i think we may have to move S soon, she likes to stretch her arms right out and cant do that in the moses.

We only bought it when Henry was 3 weeks but he likes it. A lot of the time it sends him to sleep but on occasion he cries in it, it's not 100% foolproof but if you can do what we did and get one second hand in good condition then resell then you won't lose anything in trying it.

Hann thats a nice pushchair, i was looking at similar Obaby ones. Yes the nipper is pricier, but we have never spent serious money on any of our prams/pushchairs (less that £600 in total) so thats another reason really. We went to look at one today to play with and I love it and Alan is pretty taken with it too. H was the funniest, we usually have to bribe him to get in a pushchair but he got in this one and threw a tantrum because he didnt want to get out! lol It looked so comfy for him and is lovely and padded which i like for lucas, a lot of the pushchair types dont have a lot of padding ive found. Anyhow we have ordered one! Woo hoo, i havent been this excited for ages, how sad!
Great that Henry is in his cot, both of mine slept so much better in their cot, hope it helps you long term.

Simmy, I dont blame you for upping Leos nursery hours, will give you some nice time with Sophia too
I wouldnt be impressed with Paul being away for two weekends in a row either!
Re swings, we have the fisher price rainforest one, i got that 2nd hand too, I dont see the point in buying them new when you can get excellent condition 2nd hand for half the price.

We took both boys swimming this morning, was Lucas first time and he was as chilled out as ever, not batting an eyelid and taking it all in, he was even kicking quite a bit too. it wore him out though bless him, Harrison also had a lovely time, hes got so much more water confidence now its fantastic and he loved it. It was a really nice family morning.
We are going for a meal with friends tonight, Thai, so looking forward to getting out for a couple of hours on our own. My parents are staying the night and tomorrow we are going to a dinosaur theme park thing in norwich, so wonder what that will be like!

Hi girls,

Han - sorry you're not feeling well but glad that Greg helped out - you need your rest.

Simmy - I don't blame you having Leo in nursery three full days. I've said to Neel that if we have another baby, then I want ajay to keep his nursery days up as I know it'll be hard to cope otherwise and also the routine is good for them as they go to pre-school then school so quickly anyway! Leo is a socialable boy too so I'm sure he will be fine.

Mel - dinosaur themed park, sounds like Ajay's idea of heaven! But Norwich is quite a way away from us. Let me know what it's like!

Ok here - went to see my friend this morning as her baby was born 4 days ago. He is so cute but hard work and it made me realise how lovely and quiet things are just with one! Off to the dentist now for a filling (boring) so MIL has taken Ajay to the park. Can't wait to move home on the weekend but got lots of cleaning to do tongith and tomorrow night so full on as always! x

Caz you really are always on the go, it will be worth it once you are home though! And yes you get zero rest with 2 babies!! I look back at my time with just Annabelle and it seems so easy!

Mel - thats great about the buggy! I bet it will be fab. We just can't afford one like that at the moment. Plus I need to sell the other first. Doing loads of selling at the moment to raise funds as bit short on cash :(
I agree the theme park sounds great too.

Simmy - how are you feeling? I'm still feeling pretty exhausted and icky. Hoping I'll be better by the weekend so I can give Greg a rest as he's been getting up at 5.45am every day this week and taking Henry. Henry won't go back to sleep until 6.45 when Annabelle wakes. Even in the cot he had virtually exactly the same wake ups - 1am and 5.30am. The only thing that was better was that because he wasn't next to me I wasn't woken by every little noise. I have a feeling that he might just be a 2 wake up baby from now until he's weaned. If we didn't have Annabelle i would probably perservere more for a few nights with trying not to feed him and trying other techniques to settle but the chance of him waking her makes it really not worth it because once shes up she then wakes constantly until the morning.
Anyway better get on, taking Annabelle (and henry) to a drop in ballet class this morning then no plans for later except going to the post office to post a load of things.
The fitness class later, which I am going to try to do despite feeling rubbish!

Hann how are you feeling today? Hope you got a bit more sleep. It's so much harder to stick to techniques with two kids, for fear of waking the other one! Glad greg has helped out though.

Mel how was the dinosaur park? Sounds fun!

Caz, does it look like you'll get home this weekend? Yes, I agree wtih Hann, in hindsight it is so chilled out with one child. But i guess it's hard to fully appreciate that at the time...

Paul has taken sophia the past two nights, bless him. I still haven't had that much sleep as leo has woken up too, but it has definitely helped, i dont feel like a complete zombie. Sophia only had one wake up the night before last at 4am, but then last night she was up at 3am and refused to settle back to sleep at all, so poor paul is knackered!

Am off out tonight with for dinner with the NCT girls, can't wait to catch up with them without children! I'm going to get a cab too so i can have a few cheeky drinks - still can't drive yet anyway as my 6 weeks aren't up.
