Beach Bump Graduates!

Now to catch up on the news...

Caz - wow, potty training - well done and good luck! Hope ajay takes to it well. Are you following any kind of regime with it, or just going on your gut?

Maria, hope you find something that works for your tummy troubles. Is it IBS?

Mel, well done on finishing your website, looks fab! Have you had many bookings yet? And appointments? Do you go to people's houses?

Hann, how did the proper potty training with annabelle go? has it made any difference to the night time wake ups? Really hope so! Gosh your trip to bristol sounds a mare, it's so stressful driving when the baby is screaming :(

SB, you are so organised with your christmas list!

My goodness Simmy what a nightmare! Such a freaky thing to happen as its so random! I hope he I back to himself soon. Hope you are okay too, what a time you've had!

Caz - well done on the potty training, i did 2 days of it and only got 3 wees in the potty so have stopped it and will try again in a few weeks. It's still very early. Because of her constant wake ups I took her to the doctor and she has another ear infection, she must have got it a month ago on holiday as she has been waking since then but it prob got a lot worse over the past week hence disturbed nap times too. Feel terrible for not going sooner bit I had asked her if anything hurt and she kept saying no! Anyway on antibiotics again and she's slept through the night again last night! The doctor also suspects she has a urine infection too because she's been dribbling out her wee, apparently they don't have to be painful bit can just cause incontinence which is why we have struggled to get her to wee on the potty. Anyway the antibiotics we have should kill that too. Such a pain but with all that going on the potty training is on hold. I need her to have positive associations with it and at the moment she's just getting distressed.

Had fun yesterday as had a BBQ at a friends and we were both drinking, Henry came with is and my parents took Annabelle. Henry was passed around and cuddled by everyone and everyone said he was amazing, which of course he is! He's been really unsettled today though, fighting sleep. Hoping he sleeps okay tonight. Annabelle is also exhausted as she didn't nap either as we were driving a lot today.
No big plans for tomorrow except tidying up etc.
hope you are all enjoying the long weekend :)

Gosh Simmy you poor thing!! I'm glad Leo is OK and didn't need a blood transfusion. That is very random about the broad beans- at least you know now before he might have been given any of the drugs on the list that he could react too. Hopefully that will be it with hospital visits for you!

I hope Annabelle gets better soon Hann! Hopefully her sleeping will be better from now on.
BBQ sounds fun!

I've barely seen Martyn as he's on call and has pretty much worked solidly all weekend so far. Hopefully he won't be home too late tonight. It wouldn't be so bad except he can barely walk at the moment as he managed to dislocate his knee yesterday, he was screaming, it was awful! Apparently he will be in a bit of pain for a while now, hopefully he gets better soon- he's so accident prone!!

We only have a week and a half of summer holidays left :( Before Holly was at school I hated the summer holidays as everything is always so busy but now she's at school I love it as she is home! We've managed to do a lot over the holidays so that's been nice.

Not much else to report really. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Simmy you poor thing. I can't believe it poor Leo. You must have been beside yourself with worry. You deserve some good luck my dear. Hope the rest of the weekend has been ok.

Han you need some luck too - annabelle has been so poorly recently as well with her ear infections. I was worried as you hadn't been on here for a few days and didn't see anything on fb :(

Maria - it must be lovely to have both girls home for te summer. Especially as I bet they play together now too! Enjoy the last week.

We had friends over today from NCT who are also potty training so it was crazy. Me and the other mum are both worriers so we were fussing and the boys were clueless as always! But we had some lovely food and went through it together which was nice. He is doing ok - he is naked though and every time we out pants on he wets himself so unless he stays naked everywhere its not that wonderful!

It's y birthday tomorrow and we will be home again potty training! I need to clean all of the windows (how glam!) and not much else planned except we might go to see the Alan partridge movie tomorrow night if Neel's parents can baby sit x

Caz I know you said Neel wanted to potty train now but if you're on day 2/3 and he's not clicking then he probably isn't ready. They say that day 1 expect a lot of accidents, day 2 expect a few and if they are ready it should all click in day 3. I did two days with Annabelle and it wasn't clicking enough so I stopped. Just at 2 is very early still especially for boys.
I saw this article on another group and I thought it was really useful so copying it for here as its such a relevant topic to us all. By the way I'm not saying don't do it but just that if its not clicking then its probably better to hold off for a few weeks and try again.

Hope this link works!

I hope you've had a nice birthday Caz. Hopefully you manage to get to the cinema :)

That link's really helpful as I've been toying with the idea of starting Naomi soon as for pre school in January she has to have a pull up at least but I really don't think she's ready, if she's still not there by January I will have a word with them. I think she may be ready by then but we'll see. I think Holly was 2.5 so not early or anything.

Right, I'm off to jump in the bath (oh the exciting life I lead!) x

Hi girls,

Having a horrible day - yesterday Ajay started to stutter quite badly. Myt heart is breaking for him. I can only associate it with the potty training as that is all that has changed but he has started to stutter through certain words - not specific ones but at the start of words. His speech was so clear before and you can just see the frustration in his face. It's horrible. I called the HV and she said that it might be connected or might not - it's not common as an issue. She said that we should keep going but keep an eye on it....... but it's heart breaking :( feeling awful x

Oh Caz you can't blame yourself for that, it could be a passing thing and hopefully will be. How has potty training gone? Has he got the hang of it or are you holding off for a while? I hope you weren't offended by what I said before, was trying to be helpful after the experience I had after trying annabelle for 1.5 days. Our situation is a bit different though as annabelle clearly has bowel issues

Just did a quick google search and toilet training looks like can cause stuttering as its anxiety coming out, people say they stopped with toilet training and the stuttering stopped. Maybe put him in nappies tomorrow and see if the stuttering stops over the next few days, if it does then maybe he's just anxious and not ready and try again when you think he is more ready :hugs:

Thanks Han - the hv told me to keep going as she said its more confusing to stop. He is doing really well - all wee's and poo's on te potty - tonight he announced he needed a wee so I took him to the potty and he did it easily. The poo's worry him though.

I know it's my anxious nature but I feel like we've ruined him and caused this. I was just hugging him tonight and felt so bad for him.hv said not to worry, can be nothing to worry about and just ignore it but its awful :(

And of course I don't mind! I value your opinion totally - I was thinking of stopping until the hv said keep on...... Blimey :(

Fair enough, especially if he's doing them in three. Annabelle wasn't, she does poos in it no problem but wees not in there but since reading that article I am convinces that her Bowel is not functioning effectively and is actually preventing her from having control over her bladder. The dr said the same thing so hopefully the laxatives we now have will help. She talks about going on the potty all the time bit just doesn't seem able to release properly. It's sad. The whole potty training thing is really tough!

Thanks guys for all your comments. Leo is getting better day by day, he has slept a lot but yesterday refused to have his nap. So today I sent him to nursery (not the whole day, just 10-4). But he came back totally exhausted and seemed more yellow so I probably shouldn't have sent him :(

Caz, oh no how strange about the stuttering, as others have said I'm sure it's just a phase especially as he was fine before. Just remember everyone in their lives has to be potty trained so don't worry about that having an effect on him. Glad to hear the training is going well too, what a clever little boy he is! Xx

Hann thanks for the article link, very interesting! Glad annabelles sleep has got better, poor thing has been through the wars with infections hasn't she. Have the antibiotics helped with her sleep then?

Maria, that's quite strict of Naomi's preschool to require potty training or pull ups isn't it? Given she will only be 2 and a bit? I guess pull ups will be ok though. Sorry to hear about Martyn's leg, I hope he's ok! It must be hard not having spent much time with him lately too, hope you get a break together soon.

Afm not much going on, just debating whether or not to wake Sophia to feed before I go to sleep, or risk two night time wake ups. Hmm, decisions!

We have our 8 week post natal check tomorrow and Sophia's jabs.

Oh does anyone remember, are you supposed to give calpol before they have the jabs or after??

You don't have to give calpol with jabs, I haven't with Henry at all and he's been fine, I think it's a common misconception that we need to dose them up - you'd never bother taking a paracetamol before a jab after all.

So glad Leo is on the mend Simmy!

Busy day here, did library rhyme time and then a play date. Annabelle finally had a longer nap of 1 hour 30!! She only woke because Henry started crying.
Been trying to sort my diet out too this week as been feeling faint and sick from all the calorie burning at bmf and from bf. Think I must need much more than I'm eating right now.
Got another busy day tomorrow - Nct meet in the morning then to a friends in the afternoon. Then fri I am out drinking in London in the evening. I have been pumping all week to leave enough bottles for Henry while I'm gone. He will take a bottle pretty well so I'm really excited to be going out! Won't be able to leave here until 7pm but still excited!

A night out will be awesome hann! Gosh you must have lost so much weight from all the exercising and bf-ing, do take it easy and eat some more! That's great that you're sticking at it though. Wish I could cut down on how much I'm eating. Paul and I tried to start our diet last week but I was so tired from being up half the night with Sophia that I just needed the energy of proper food. My mum asked me today when I was going on a diet. Thanks mum!! I can't exercise properly yet either as every time I lift heavy things I feel a pull on my stomach muscle, I guess it's taking me longer than I thought it would to recover from the section.

Sophia has been a bit upset tonight so I gave her some calpol just in case, she was doing a 'wail' type of cry so I figured she was hurting, bless her.

It's different if you actually think they are suffering afterwards to give calpol, it's more the giving in case that I find a bit odd, but plenty of people do it!

As for diet, I wouldn't rush to do it, you've had a lot happen and got to recover from a major operation. I have been lucky it fell off, but I am convinced BF has a lot to do with that. I am still stuffing my face with things really not good for me - working my way through all the types of chocolate I can find!

Ha I would love to have the weight fall off an still eat chocolate! It was def much easier last time when I was bf-ing.

Caz, how's Ajay now? X

In fairness I'm also burning a minimum of 1300 a week in exercise so that will make a difference too.

Yes, wow that is incredible. Well done, you are inspiring me to kick into action!

Wow Han that's amazing exercise - how you manage with two I will never know! For my birthday is asked Neel for personal training sessions so my first one is tomorrow, argh!

Simmy thanks for asking. He is good - haven't noticed the stutter tonight and he is in good spirits. He is fine on the potty at home but they said at nursery that he just didn't want to use it so had lots of accidents. So time will tell x

Simmy don't worry about te weight you look fab :) I'm sure. And I loved the video of Leo on Facebook - what a clever boy starting to read letters! Wow! x
