Breastfeeding Support - 6 months and beyond!

I've just had an op, can't feed for 24 hours (anaesthetics, sp?) Ollie is clawing at my boobs...I don't like it!! He really wants some mummy milk and cuddles, It's breaking my heart!

Jellybean, I feel for you; it's horrid when they claw at your top wanting some boobie n can't have it, for whatever reason. I hope he settles ok & that the 24hrs goes by quickly. xxx

Hope you dont mind but i have a quick question,

My AF showed up yesterday after, almost 24 months without it, it was not a happy surprise!

Anyway my friend said that LO wont want my milk before long as the hormones and stuff in my body will change the taste and amount and he wont want it.

Is this true?

It shouldn't cause any problems; I've had AF back since Alyssa was about 3 months old. She has never refused to nurse, and we're still going really strong after 2 years. The only time I've heard of changes in BM affecting some LOs wanting to nurse is during a subsequent pregnancy. Even that isn't always the casethough asmany women successfully nurse throughout x

I think your friend may have it a bit confused. The only thing that may be affected by a period is your milk supply could possibly dip. Therefore, making your LO struggle and fuss a bit at the breast because they want more milk and it's not coming as fast or as strong during AF weeks.

Mine has been back since 9.5 months and Emma is still going strong.

They must be having a bit of a BF campaign on the go just now. I've noticed an advert on TV about it a few times now. I've tried to find it on the net to show you's but no luck Then today, I was reading through our local paper and they had a whole page on the benefits of BF.

We are getting a massive snow storm right now, but I'm still glad it's the weekend hehe!
I get to sleep in maybe, snuggle with my luvs, sounds good to me! Just wish Jacob were home to enjoy the lazy snowed in Saturday...

hello everyone :wave:
hope u dont mind me posting in here a few weeks early i cant believe my lo is nearly 6 months old! we had several probs in the beginning with bfing my lo had tongue tie and wouldnt latch once my milk came in we ended up back in hospital when he was few days old but luckly he had the tie snipped.
i pumped for 3 days and then used nipple shields for a month untill one day he just latched on!
i love bfing and want to feed for as long as possible!
