Breastfeeding Support - 6 months and beyond!

Well done and also on an easy weaning process - it is sad when it comes to an end.

My 4 year old still occassionally asks but that is because I am BFing my 7 month old now. I weaned her at 26 months so not sure why she is still attached to the idea. I don't encourage it though.

For months I wished my daughter to return to the breast, she weaned due to stress in the home and change when her brother went to the hospital for 10 weeks when she was around 13.5 months old.. she just started refusing boobie and even slapping it away etc.. I would offer a few times a day, manually express what I could for her (which she still wants me to do lol and well.. there isn't much there) and she latched once for a second or two but is still very interested in my breasts, at almost 21 months old. It breaks my heart we didn't continue until 2-3 years old

Im both looking forward to Evie weaning and dreading it too, i will be nice to have my body back as mine but also ill miss the special cuddles we have

She still BF to sleep for her nap and bedtime and about 3 times in the night so i guess it wont be any time soon

Do they tend to self wean once then can self settle?

Thomas was able to self-settle from about four and a half months, so not in this case! But maybe they do wean a bit earlier if they are not depending on boobie to get back to sleep.

Damn you Polaris

I think she is getting better at self settling, she doesnt alwasy need me to get her back to sleep and some nights she will finish her feed and and just cuddle me and go to sleep

Yep, my son's been sleeping through (mostly) since he was 14mths old (and no night feeds what so ever since 18 months old) and even though my pregnancy has caused my milk to pretty much dry up, he's still nursing once a day regardless, lol.

Congrats on the milestones and the to newbies on here and also congrats to Quartz on the easy weaning process with your daughter- it's great it was her choice and obviously the 'right time' for her Polaris, is Thomas weaned or just going through a phase of refusal while he decides?

I think he is weaned. He hasn't had a feed in a week and a half now. We were looking through one of his books the other day and there is a baby breastfeeding in it, and he pointed at it and made the sign for milk and said 'me' but he didn't actually want a feed.

I'm pleased but sad that he doesn't want to feed anymore. Pleased because we are TTC and it might help my cycle get back to normal and also pleased that the whole process was so easy. But sad because my baby is growing up and it's the end of a phase. I still have milk but no engorgement or anything like that.
