Canadian Moms & Moms to be!

I grew up with a hodge podge tree with homemade ornaments and my parents gave us each an ornament every year. We each had a shoe box of our ornaments to hang up every year. I want to continue that tradition with my kids.

I have a crazy hodge podge tree. Growing up we had THE WORST Charlie Brown fake tree that my mom bought from Eaton's window display or something  It was missing branches and stuff. Actually, I just almost cried thinking about it sitting in the dump  That tree had a history! Anyways, I have like the coolest tree on earth :haha:

I have my old school Sesame Street decorations that fit over the lights, except they don't make the old school lights anymore, so I have to like balance them on a branch so they don't fall off the light  I have Hello Kitty, Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, Peter Rabbit (like 3 or more of each of those) Helena has like 3 or 4 first Christmas ones. Elliot has one so far. I will buy each of us an ornament each year that has to do with the kid that year. Last year Helena got a Tinkerbell one because that was her obsession, this year she has the Timbit Snowman from Tim Hortons  because she is addicted to "ONE chocolate timbit please" :) Oh and I also collect ornaments that have to do with coffee...because I love coffee

Hodge podge is a nice word for it haha
we had a downright tacky tree growing up!!! :haha:

I put mine up the other day, and I was happy to see Helena so excited to open up all the ornaments. I also am anal about keeping all the boxes and packaging for them :haha:

I forgot I also have Cabbage Patch ornaments, My Little Pony and tons of musical Rudolph ones :D

Gotta get some boy ornaments for poor Elliot haha

I can't find an online picture of my favorite ornament but it's a Frosty one :)

I was looking at ornaments online and found one of Gizmo from the Gremlin movie and for some reason thought of you Wendy

I like doing white lights and silver garland etc... But we have alot of different actual decorations. I have some from when I was a kid, and some from family members etc that have passed away. Jasmine and Peyton have their first xmas ornaments.

Vickie, I HAD to get out of there!!!! If I had stayed home, I knew it would have gotten worse!
Okay, any ideas how to make chiselling porridge off the ceiling any easier?

I'm thinking steam it... get it warm and moist and it should come off easier... hopefully you have a flat ceiling!

hmm on second thought scratch that... knowing the day you had you'll end up falling off a chair while holding a boiling kettle with the cord stretched out across the kitchen - of course you fell off the chair because someone walked into the cord! :haha: I can see it all now...

Our condo is so small so we only have a really tiny tree ha ha ha. I think my SIL got it on sale from Loblaws after Christmas one year, its pre-lit and was orginally like $90 and she got it for $10. :haha:

Its perfect for our little place though! Fave ornament? I think its my Las Vegas one that I got this year. Its pink and is a replica of the famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign.

Growing up we always had a real tree. Like go deep in the bush and chop down your own type of christmas tree when I was really young, when we got older we would buy them from the guy who set up shop outside the A&P on Lakeshore Drive in North Bay (I think its now a Value Village?).

I don't want anyone to outbid me but live auctions are going on here:
https://www.facebook.com/GreenBabyAuctions

I've bought a few Christmas gifts from them so far
Some cute dresses!!

ETA: They end in 30 mins and she puts more on through out the night, at least thats what she did last time, and your bid INCLUDES shipping

that's awesome Sara! :happydance:

some nice stuff on that website Wendy! unfortunately no spending for me today  I already spent a lot

I'm faaar too broke to bid on anything atm. We had a LOT of bills this month and I was really needing to work last night and tonight so I could get some spending money. However me being on death's door this past week has spoiled that plan, so woohoo.

My friend was like "I think you need antibiotics" and I was thinking how that's nice and all, but we don't have benefits and I don't think I have the extra money right now to get them. :haha: I'll be fine in a week or two... its the here and now that sucks friggin' buttholes. :haha:
